Hi!
"Lorii you look beautiful today. How about a kiss on the cheek"
in tagalog you say it like this:
"Lorii ang ganda mo. Pwede ba mag-pa kiss sa pisngi?"
and "Good Morning"?
"Magandang Umaga!"
Hope this helps you a lot!

Whoooooooo for Tagalog.
tho i dont know it fluently ><
How do you say... "Lorii you look beautiful today. How about a kiss on the cheek"
Ohh and teach me good morning
I know someone already replied, but here's another translation, with pronounciation guide:)
"Lorii you look beautiful today."
Lorii, ang ganda mo ngayon. I just added "ngayon" (today). This is a problem. The english language doesn't have "ng" in its vocabulary, so I don't know how to teach you how to pronounce it. (I now realize why firejin left it out of the translation :laugh )
As for "How about a kiss on the cheek", if you want to kiss her on the cheek then it's: "Puwede ba mahalikan ang (pronounced like the drink "tang" or "rang") pisngi mo?"
If you meant that you want her to kiss you on the cheek then it is: "Puwede ba halikan mo ko sa pisngi?"
Again, that "ng" surfaces in the word "pisngi". So...in order to avoid that, I'd recommend just saying:
"Lorii, ang ganda mo today".
And either "Puwede ba mahalikan ang cheek mo?" or "Puwede ba halikan mo ko sa cheek?", depending on who's going to kiss who.

i used to live in Baguio but I don't speak the dialect, my mom does though.
i only speak Tagalog...but can Chinese be considered a dialect, since there's a lot of chinese people here in Manila anyways :P

Hahaha yeah, I went to Manila awhile back with my mom. I was suprised at the number of Chinese people I saw haha. I actually met a cool guy near QC, and he spoke Tagalog and Chinese. I learned a little bit of Chinese haha.

How do you say "I love cup-ramen!" And "I am a cool pup!" in tagalog?
Caveat: Filipino =/= Tagalog. Tagalog is a dialect, Chinese is a nationality. Filipino, our national language, acknowledges/incorporates Sugbuhanon, Pampangueño, etc. in its lexicon.
Faux_Fox, i don't think there is a Filipino translation for "cup ramen". Anyway, in Filipino, it goes like this: "Gusto (or Nais or Masarap) ang cup ramen!"
The English 'love' could take on various connotations: Gusto (Gus pron. as goose, To pron. as to in toblerone.) and Nais (Na pron. as nah!, Is pron. as the linking verb is.) mean one wants cup ramen coz it's delicious, cheap or what have you.
Masarap (Mas pron. as mass, Ara pron. as ara in arachnid, P pron. as p in flop-> weave em all together and you've got MASARAP!) means 'delicious' but not necessarily 'likes' or 'loves'.
"I'm a cool pup." [If translated literally] This could mean "Kwela akong tuta." or "Kwela ako." If this is an idiomatic expression, this'll be difficult to translate coz, for all we know, idioms are culture-bound and therefore culture-relative. A one to one correspondence we might not have.
Hey ya guys! If you want to learn the language, or just chat about anything under the sun, feel free to YM me.

in tagalog you say it like this:
"Lorii ang ganda mo. Pwede ba mag-pa kiss sa pisngi?"
and "Good Morning"?
"Magandang Umaga!"
Hope this helps you a lot!

It would be better if you say: Lorii ang ganda mo! Pakiss naman!
It seems like this is the way it is implied. :)

I think your Filipino friends are playing a prank on you. If you only knew what those words mean, you'll stop saying it. It says a bad meaning. And the sentence above are not really Filipino. It's just a combination of some Filipino words and some non-Filipino words(like uyupan).

ei, wag nyo naman turuan ng kabulastugan ang mga porenjer prens natin dito. That will reinforce some existing stereotypes. We wouldn't want that, do we? I hope I made myself clear. Hah! Is this supposed to be a ,,classes topic"? You know, there's more to learning than translations. Those conversations between you don't help if we can't understand them. Time to make order.
My reccomendation is:
Lesson 1- ,,X is Y" Conjugation of ,,to be", and all the ,,persons" (he, she, etc)
Lesson 2- ,,This and that" like ,,That thing over there is...", ,,The object next to you is...". Like japanese ,,kore" ,,sore"
Lesson 3- ,,This is my X" teaching how to say somehting belongs to someone (my, his, their etc)
Lesson 3- ,,The X is green" menaing how to create adjectives.
Soemthing like this would be helpful. What is the conjugation, how to create adjectvives, things like that. It's easier to learn if we understand, not just learn phrases, in which we can't identify which word means what. Wouldn't you agree guys and unguys?

Care to tell me what that word means?
Maybe "Where are you going?"
Any everyday Kine words.

where?=saan?

The tagalog version of naruto is, in my opinion, accurate.

mawkishgurl_itachi

matanda - old person.
mahilig - to be fond of something/someone
"matandang mahilig" -an old person who is fond of something.
we all know that Jiraiya loves women.
"mahilig sa naruto" - "very fond of naruto"

Pervert = bastos (am I right? Correct me if I'm wrong)

photographer is actually retratista or photograpo...DUH!
Also there is no new tagalog words for electricity its always been koryente and/or elektrisidad. (your roommate might be wrong also)
filipino love. go to youtube and type in "biyahe tayo" watch the music video. it has some of our top artists, you'll love it and want to visit our homeland.

Though dagitab means spark (asked my parents 'cause this word is something i hear everyday so i don't know it)
Charlie

it is? i got dagitab off Bob Ong's book (Bakit Baliktad Magbasa ng LIbro ang mga Pilipino) so i'm not sure about that anyway. i'll try to list the other words there some other time.. lots of words we're not familiar with :)
mawkishgurl_itachi

^Ipopost ko na sana. Dagitab is the tagalog word for electricity. I also read it form Bob Ong's book.
Rin <3
08-18-2006, 12:22 AM
Talaga? 0.o akala ko elektrisidad yun? <_<
Bisuke
08-18-2006, 10:24 AM
^ "elektrisidad" was just derived from the English word "electricity" which means the same thing so it's not really accepted as the main Filipino word for "electricity". *blahblahblah*
>>
now the Filipino word "dagitab" which means "electricity", is soOo NEW to me.:blink
Charlie
08-18-2006, 11:53 PM
some words are difficult to translate so we just pronounce it the filipino way, thus "elektrisidad" is "electricity"
random words from Bob Ong:
effective - mabisa ..not "epektibo" lol
handicraft - gawang-kamay
multiplication - pagpaparami
bone - buto
seed - liso ..you'll think it's also "buto" but it isn't. and i think "binhi" is also accepted.
radiation - raniag
soil - dalin
land - lupa
oxidation - dagulan
chemical reduction :amuse - latian
cloud - ulap
fog - ulop ..nice, eh?
high tide - taog
nimbus cloud... - dagim
electricity - kuryente or dagitab
electromagnet - dagbalani
electric flow - dagdaloy
electric field - daglarangan

water convolvulus is right, but if u want to say it the easy way its river spinach (kangkong).
Convolvulus is the Latin name for a group of plants that includes bindweed.

Do you guys know a site where I could learn Tagalog? Because I would like to learn the rules and all that other stuff.

^Hmm.. I don't know if there is a site that can help you learn Tagalog, but while you're searching for one, I suggest that you post here often since there are many Filipinos in NF who are willing to teach members who want to learn Tagalog.
