Whats with the openings?

Why does one piece only change OPs about once every 60 episodes? where as the norm for OPs is 26 eps and for EDs its 13 which they do follow.

it is very diffrent number of esp with opening/ending in many anime , several anime never change to 100 esp some anime change opening in short esp

they do that to amaze you so when your boringly watching tv all of a sudden a new opening/ending comes on and your like "wow, thats tight!"

yeah, it was weird to me too how they didn't change the openings alot. It seems that they change the endings more frequently though. Oh well... it doesn't affect me much either way since I usually skip watching the openings and endings anyways. :/

I think it's because they knew this series would be 300+ in the end and they weren't interested in wasting so much money on different openings and endings with their already limited budget (I'd imagine they'd not have a large budget since they're working on such a long series and all).

Endings are much easier to make then openings.

Basically Toei animation doesn't give One Piece the type of quality care Nara gives Naruto...So they cut corners everywhere.

I may get flamed for saying that, but that comment is the result of the mentral trauma I got from watching the intro "Believe" for God knows how many episodes.

I'm getting sick of Hikari e though. I sort of wish they'd move on to Bon Voyage already.

I'm awaiting Map of the Heart though as that's my favorite opening

Anyways I don't mind it. Usually the openings show spoilers for the next few ars. Heck We Are basically covered up to the Louge Town and that was fine since Chopper wasn't in that opening anyways and because in the enemy photo's they had up to Dragon... whereas Believe had stuff from Apis, Little Garden, Alabasta, etc. So it had to go that long.

Hikari e I just don't see the point anymore. I mean it was good for the first 20 episodes but DAMN I want Bon Voyage!

Also, Nico Robin was in the opening three episodes before she actually joined.

I just wanted to say how hilarious I found Megaharrison's comment because of the dramatic increase in quality in the One Piece eps starting with the Davy Back Fight.

It's because, unlike Naruto or hell ANY OTHER ANIME OUT THERE nowadays, the openings for One Piece are custom made for the show. You'll notice that they all have "Map, Treasure, Nakama, or very often One Piece" in the actual lyrics. Of course it takes more time to select a group, write a custom song, make sure it sounds good, etc than to just grab the latest new group's song and slap it on an opening like Naruto, Bleach, etc do. Plus it's no doubt more expensive, which is most likely why they don't change them nearly as often.

Plus the openings are just that awesome. Believe deserved to last as long as it did, hell it should have lasted longer, starting Hikari E 13 episodes before Robin joined was stupid. Manga readers like myself wouldn't care, but it still was a dumb idea.

I wouldn't say that. Believe was a good OP song, but it would have been better if they didn't use footage from the eps.

In my opinion Hikari e was the worse, not only was the song terribly boring as in I almost fell asleep listening to it, but the animation used for it really sucked, but thats my opinion

Hikari e actually ties 3rd place with Bon Voyage for me. Kokoro no Chizu (the current one) is my second favourite.

I like the fact that they put spoilers in the OP, because you can slowly try to work out what they are. An example would be the guy walking past Robin in Kokoro no Chizu and Luffy vs. Usopp.

i never could get into bon voyage. i think its the only opening that i don't have. kokoro no chizu is my personal fav, it was stuck in my head for days.
