Watched both Full Metal Panic + Fumoffu. While Fumoffu was pretty funny, I liked Full Metal Panic just cause there was so much to learn behind Sousuke's past...the Lambda Driver, sounds so cool :D.

I never actually watched Full Metal Panic beyond the first ep that was on a Newtype DVD. But I've watched all of Fumoffu, and that was one of the funniest anime I've ever seen. It was unbelievable just how great it was.

Kadokowa Shoten has officially announced that a new Full Metal Panic! TV series, Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid, is to be produced. The series will once again be directed by Yasuhiro Takemoto, but is expected to be a serious adaptation of the two Full Metal Panic! Owaru Day By Day novels.

may be a little over rated, the anime seems to be getting no where at the start but later with the two girls on souske sagara tail, he plays it cool. i didnt see any threads on this anime and thought it should have. i still didnt buy dvd 6 which contains the last episodes but iam sure that itll be gr8.

Isn't the Konoha Library reserved for Manga? I saw the first season and fumoffu. The first season is great and all but it's primarily a drama/action with humor added to the mix. Fumoffu is pure comedy if you can't laugh at it then there is something wrong with you IMO. I heard there is a second season coming out that is supposed to follow the first season but right now it's just a rumor.

I thought Fumoffu was better than the original FMP. It's the best comedy i've ever seen. It's better than excel saga, Love Hina, FLCL, Slayers, Azumanga Daioh put together. I hope FMP 3 is gonna follow the trend set by Fumoffu.

But of course, I'm after the essence of the whole Full Metal Panic! series, which is about military warfare and mecha action.

I'd have to agree that the first Full metal panic ultimately failed at being a gripping action and drama and survived due to it's light hearted romance comedy. That's Why Fumoffu Rocked!

Hopefully 2nd raid does better in the action/angst department.

Fumoffu is really good actually. You need to watch ep 5, 7, 8, 9, 11. Those episodes. I'd count them as my favorites.

Anyway, yeah, Full Metal Panic is awesome. Its the only series with those mechs a.k.a. big fat robots that I actually like. Definetely on my list of "good things to see".

As for the Second Raid, does anyone know which novels its based on? I think The End of Day by Day, but are they doing A Dancing Very Mery Christmas too?

Full Metal Panic was pretty good. Nothing in the anime was groundbreaking, but it told the story sufficiently. What bothered me was the mechas. I am not a big fan of them and the only anime i thought was really good with them in it was Neon Genesis Evangelion. Obviously Full Metal Panic is not even near Eva's league. Other mecha shows like Gundam and its spinoffs are some of the worst anime ive ever seen, specially this new Gundam Seed Destiny.

^You can use the "search" feature and search the fanclubs to see if there's an FMP FC, but I believe there should be. And I am a fan of the series. I bought the box set of the first season last year, and really enjoyed it. I even re-watched the first season today when my younger brother wanted to watch it. I'm currently watching Fumoffu, which I enjoy moreso that the first season. I always liked the comedic moments more than the action for the series xDD

I watched FMP and FMP FUMOFFU... it was very hillarious. I watched some of the TSR and I noticed that it's more action oriented. It's a nice change of pace because the humor doesn't repeat too bad. I guess I'll return to TSR after I finish some of the stuff I have in queue...

Fumoffu was more of a side story, so I considered TSR more of a sequel to the first series, so it being more action-oriented was a given. Altough turthfully I loved the Fumoffu season, because it was jammed packed with comedy :laugh

well the last ep of TSR was amazing... especially when i finally got to see sousuke pwn all those venom AS(god i forgot the amalgam name for those ASes... i feel like im not a FMP fan... argh):P it souded cool in the novel and it looked spectacular in the anime... though i kinda agree with them that the last part was a cliffhanger and incomplete just like the 1st season's ending... but as i have said in my previous post, theres still more of FMP to animate... currently, 3 novels still do not have an animated version... not even to mention all of those funny short stories that were not included in fummoffu... i just hope i can see the a dancing very merry christmas animated... i'd love to see how mythril hopelessly fought all those arastols inside that ship:P

you are 100% correct... they are not graphic novels... they are the Full Metal Panic Novels which all other FMP things are based upon. and in my opinion, they are great... i love em. actually the FMP novels are the only novels that i really read. the manga/graphic novels come later after the novel. then i think they have the anime.

The ova was awesome. Hilarious just like fumoffu. The beginning of the ova when Tessa walks in half asleep and starts making a move on Sagara was hilarious. Arbalest is funny as hell with his remarks :). The ending was also really funny with the beer thing :)

Well I just finished watching the original FMP...

The best way to convey my thoughts about the show is...Incredible bit of anime burden by a HORRIBLY overused craptastic villian.

Seriously...Loved every bit of the show but garou has to be one of the most boring and one dimensional villians ever.

He was fine to be the first villian...BUT there was no need for him to show up a second time...Sousukes friend would have served just fine as being the main villian of that arc with some tweaking.

And to make matters worse they made him cheat death AGAIN and used him AGAIN...Then they went and made it amazingly even worse by not having sousuke kill him when he had the chance ARGH.

Sorry to rant it, but I feel like his overuse really ruined alot of my enjoyment of the series...That said though im downloading fummofu right now. :amuse

well continuing on my own ain't done yet and both parts of chapter 4 came out like a few weeks ago... Chris Patton does make a good Sousuke in the English version. He handles the military maniac and soldier language well.

Also the thing about Gauron is that he's basically unkillable. Watch. Sooner or later he WILL come back as Mecha-Gauron or Cyberborg Gauron.

The OVA was my favorite episode of Second Raid actually. It was a refreshing change from the dark seriousness of most of the series.

One thing though, what happened to Tessa's Bonta-kun doll? I think it's interesting that Tessa also has a Bonta-kun like Kaname does.

My absolute favorite gag had to be what Kurz did to Ben.

Fumufuu and Second Raid.

Fumufuu is a romantic comedy, funny as hell, while Second Raid is the canonical next part of the story and has a much darker and more mature theme then the first season.

I always thought Fumufuu ran parallel to the main series but showed the more comdedy side of it. Im waiting to see second raid for when it gets released here so i can add to my FMP collection :D

Lower Quality? If anything the Second Raid totally blows the first season away in every single way. What they did do was change the style around. The ASes have been totally redone in their portrayal, making them faster, but less invunerable.

Unlike the first season, missles, guns, and bombs will destroy them now, trade off being the ASes are more sleek and manueverable. They're less like EVAs and more like Gundams.

Fumuffu on the other hand pulls out all the stops to make funny. Sousuke is totally warped and outrageous, while being completely cool and serious at all times. Chidori is the tempermental voice of reason, weilding her fan of smite with gusto.

It's mostly focused around the characters at school, but there are a couple episodes where other Mythril characters make cameos, notably during the week Tessa takes a vacation at the school. Two words; hot springs.

There might not be more since I think things only get worse as the story progresses. I don't know the details, but it's what I've heard. Much darker, almost scary even. Maybe not really appropiate for even Japanese television.

Just what I hear. As messed up as the one guy in the first season was, later villians make him look like a saint.

I don't really have any complaints, but it just goes to show you no matter what someone may look like or what kind of circumstances they've found themselves in, what they've done takes precedence. Even then, it's still very sad.

well starting from the "Continuing on My Own" novel, the series has turned more into a bloody war... lots of people are killed even some of the mythril personel are killed... all that i can say is that if they want to faithfully animate Continuing on My Own, they'll have to animate a lot of the gory and obscene scenes where sousuke was killing people and more...

there is a scene where Kyouko was straped with bombs and she even got shot. even the mighty arbalest got pwned big time in the end of the novel. leaving sousuke heavily injured.

O.o I've read continuing on my own. It isn't "some" its practically all of mythril. A few things to note though. The guy at the end of TSR speaking about the Arbalest. That is probably the largest villan imo. Tessa's brother. He pwns over Sousuke in every way. The woman at the end, where she was teasing Sousuke with a laser, that is Wraith. Of course all of the continuing on my own stuff would be the last to get animated as I believe it is the latest novel. Regarding the gore factor though, I don't see a problem, I mean they already threw in nudity.:oh

oh yes, Arbalest is totalled XD There is no Arbalest at the end of continuing on my own.

Overall FMP WILL continue in anime form. It is too good a series not to.

I really looking forward to see the 'Christmas' (uber funny) and COMO (uber action and drama) animated.

Its really amazing a novel can have so many genre in it.

@JH, which version of the 3rd season are you getting? KAA has a DVD sub and the graphic is superb. The AIs look so good. So does all the blood and gore and nudity:lmao

I am so impressed with this serie overall. I have finished watching serie 1 and 2. And watched parts of the 3rd one which is basically just pure comedy :D

I want to see Tessa's brother fully in action, and i wanna see Wraith.'s face. I was surprised to see Wraith as a female, i was sure he was a male.

The 2nd serie of FMP was just awesome. I was in tears when Sousuke was told to leave Chidori and after that it was evidently clear that it effected him dearly. And especially when Gauron falsed told Sousuke that Chidori was murdered ...

I love how the 2nd serie ended. The OP music being played in the background was so awesome. I would have to say that FMP makes GS/SD look like nothing.

I also watched the OVA .. (downloaded it from anime-eden)~ Really funny and awesome :D

FMP is the only Mecha anime genre I watched.I love the series soo much :wtf
I finished watching the 1st season,it was great!! Good action,nice character and so on (too many great things in this anime).

2nd and 3rd season I already downloaded all the episodes,now what i need is to find a free slot to watch the anime,as for now I'm way too busy with college stuff :(.So the anime is onhold for me :(
