The Bankai FC

Well I searched in the Bleach FC section and it wasn’t there. Now I can truly say that this is the Bankai FC! "Bankai". Only Shinigami at the Captain's rank or highly powerful Vice-Captains can acquire Bankai. Increasing the zanpaku-to's power by as much as a factor of ten, it takes many decades of intense training to learn Bankai (or three days of cheating courtesy of Urahara and Yoruichi. ^^) Triggering a zanpaku-to's Bankai needs only a one-word incantation: Bankai.

Bankai zanpaku-to get additions to their names, indicating it is New and Special, and it changes even more drastically, usually (presently with only 1 exception) becoming something far, far larger than the wielder.

As of the present (chapter 183), 26 zanpaku-to have been introduced, and we've seen 7 Bankai. But there are still several Captains and Vice-Captains who haven't shown us what their zanpaku-to can do, and several of the blades we have seen have only given us teasers. So this list is not nearly finished yet!

Umm....you might want to put manga spoilers in the title since most of the character's bankai hasn't been shown in the anime yet.


Also, bankai isn't the third release. There's only two releases.

Shikai = Initial Release
Bankai = Final Release

Best bankai = Yamamoto Genryuusai, thought we haven't seen it. It's safe to assume that the most powerful sword has the most powerful bankai too.

Anyways, i gotta prefer Byakuya's bankai (out of those we have seen), it's super useful and he's mastered it perfectly - which for example Renji hasn't done.

Cool, I'll join. I really like Histugaya's, Ichigo's, and Renji's Bankai. My favorite though is Renji's cuz his looks awesome. I can't wait til he learns how to completely master it cuz when he does, he'll be a force to reckon with. Histugaya's was a close second since his is a really cool ice dragon and I think that's tight. Ichigo's was third cuz his was cool but it didn't feel very unique. With Ichigo, I figured his Bankai would be a little more about power than about speed.

Hitsugaya's bankai hasn't been shown in the anime yet...but if you want the manga version..I can get it for you.

Question has Rukai achieved Bankai beacause in the manga that chappy mod-soul says that Byakuya stopped her from becoming a captain when she was clearly at that level, could this mean Captain or Vice Captain level cos it doesn't say. It's probably Vice Captain cos' at that time there were no free spots in the Captains and there was a free vice-captain spot in the 13th Division.
