James Marshal “Jimi” Hendrix was born in Seattle, Washington, on November 27, 1942.
When Jimi was 12 he got his first electric guitar, the instrument which shaped the next 16 years of his life. His mother died when he was 15, about the same time that Jimi began to take a serious interest in music and playing the guitar. After he turned 18, Jimi joined the army, but after 14 months as a paratrooper, he suffered an injury that resulted in his discharge from the Army. After being discharged, Jimi decided to enter the music world.
The following four years were hard for Jimi. He traveled extensively playing back-up guitar for various R&B (Rhythm & Blues) bands such as Little Richard, Ike and Tina Turner, Wilson Pickett, the Isley Brothers and King Curtis among others. While he excelled at playing R&B guitar, R&B did not satisfy his radical temperament and eventually he was drawn to New York 's Greenwich Village where he played harder, rock and roll guitar with other performers who shared his musical interests.
In 1965, Jimi formed his first band, Jimmy James and the Blue Flames. Jimi’s band played at all the hip Village clubs of the day. Soon a man offered the band a record deal and Jimi’s band was off to the big-time music world, recording albums, traveling the world, and developing a league of adoring fans. Jimi became a big hit outside the USA.
Years later, Jimi Hendrix came to the US after his band’s tour around Europe. After coming to the states, Jimi made a new band called The Jimi Hendrix Experience. He had formed the band with Noel Redding on bass and Mitch Mitchell behind the drums. Suddenly there was a new face in town doing things on the guitar that no one had ever seen before and that no one else could do. Respect from his peers and adoration from the crowds was instantaneous. They toured Europe, breaking attendance records at one club after another, and then signed a recording contract.
The Experience split up in 1969 and Jimi joined up with Billy Cox to play at the Woodstock concert in August 1969, where he played his politically tinted 'Star Spangled Banner'. Jimi Hendrix’s ’Star Spangled Banner’ is one of the top guitar solos in rock and roll. The song is played at sports games, commercials, and it is occasionally used in TV and movie soundtracks. Ironically, Jimi and Billy only played the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ and one other song at Woodstock before walking off the stage, claiming it "wasn't coming together." He had no idea he had just produced a historic, memorable performance.
Unfortunately, the creativity that was Jimi Hendrix turned out to be short-lived. Like many of his fellow performers of that era, Jimi experimented with drugs. On September 18, 1970 James Marshal Hendrix was found dead in his apartment. While the official cause of death was listed as suffocation many suspect the true cause was a drug overdose. Jimi was 27 when he died.

you should read The Talisman. You don't have to have deeper knowledge of those things, but it's damn cool when you do and everything comes together. You should really just read every stephen king novel, lol and especially the dark tower series, 7 books of pure excellence :amuse but you should read his books in the order they were published so tht you get information regarding the dark tower at the right pace.

and yeah, he's ambitious. I was talking earlier about the way almost the entirety of his work tied into a central series. It was brilliant to me to witness ghosts of other worlds floating in the background of the present.

I didn't approve of his richard bachman work though. the style seemed too processed and stiff for me.

i can't competently defend the boy. he doesn;t have enough background. he's mysterious, cool, prolly strong as shit, but we don't know enough about his abilities for me to be able to argue it properly. As much as I hate sasuke and would love to, I don't have much to say about it worth saying. his power is simply undefined at this point.
