I hate to complain, but I have to agree they sliced up parts of the season 1&2 openings slapped together to some music and called it an op very sad indeed. I was flaberghasted when I learned that Wind was cut entirely too at least they could have pulled a Champloo and show parts of it you know. When at least we didn't have to sit through a dubbed ninja rap in the opening we should all at least be greatful for that.

Considering they made a new O/E, they weren't all that bad. Not at all.

surprise surprise, but cartoon network/adult swim also has the official openings and closings for these animes. the opening and closing will be the same as it is in the U.S.

If they put in the original opening and closing songs, they'll have to pay royalties. Plus, I don't think they have enough time for 2+ minute opening/endings.
yeah, and i heard they spent multiple millions to license this show alone....

I thought the themes were fine, they weren't so over the top just kinda blended in with the show.

Add some japanese group over it, and it would fit right in with some of the later themes. "God i hated that 'fighting' opening theme"

It's not One Peice or Dragon ball z.....thank god

And the music... Why couldn't they just use one of the background music tracks? I would have rather heared that instead of the music they made up. Also, Gundam Seed had the origional opening to that as well. VIZ Has a good record on that type of stuff.

They took me a little while to get used to and now I really like those songs. At first, with Rocks I was like "What is this...music?!" and then I was like "catchy!"

I prefer "GO!!" Such a fun song!

Was it that hard to get a song that goes along with the beat to the opening and play that instead? D: I mean, I don't mind the song. I hate hate hate the horrible video part that goes along with it. Ugh.

The Gundam Seed opening was a sort of....remix of the first Japanese opening. I suppose they couldn't include the borderline nudity in a lot of the opening. x_X The endings were left intact however. I love that first ending...

The Sambomaster OP was my favorite. I hope Viz is at least TRYING to get the licenses. I mean, if they got them for Seed, then they should be able to get them for Naruto.

Canada has to air the exact same episodes that the USA has, as they are obligated to in the contract. They will not air uncut episodes, they will not have different themes. I suspect licensing issues with Sony Music Japan being behind the no ROCKS or Wind themes. They got two veteran experienced composers for the music to replace those, which can't REALLY be that bad of a thing.

And you've read this contract?

I'm incredibly dissapointed by Viz's decision to replace the opening and ending themes in Naruto, and I'll be devestated if they don't air in Canada, since original opening and ending themes are basically the norm on YTV's Bionix block.

But sadly, all signs point to us getting the same version as the US.

Seriously! if I was someone who saw that for the first time, I would need 10 minutes to realise what the hell was going on, random confusing intro, they spanned over 80 episodes in to a 20 second video clip.

LOL, it totally reminded me of when I first saw DBZ dubbed way back in the mid 90s and they had the whole rock opening. Needless to say, I laughed my ass off listening to the Naruto opening as well.

At least the dub anime itself hasn't taken the same direction. *phew*

The show will be EXACTLY AS GOOD/CRAPPY AS YOU THINK OF IT NOW. You wont see or stop watching the show because of the intro.

"Oh my, The show has ROCKS... I have to wait a whole week to see the intro then turn off the TV because the show is crappy"

or surely during the show... good or not "gosh I wish I was watching the intro right now..."

I am also hoping that YTV is going to keep the original theme songs, like they did with Inu Yasha and .hack//sign. I really like the japanese themes 100x better! Even if 'Wind' is sung in engrish. Engrish is fun!! Really hope they can keep the original themes on YTV. It's just wishful thinking of mine I guess. I don't think YTV has the power to change the new theme back to the original themes, but we can still hope...I just have to keep reminding myself that the dubbed theme could've come out alot worse...

What the lyrics could've been like:
*insert cheesy action music*
"Naruto! We aspire to become ninja! Hoo wah!

Yup, it could have been much, much worse. Although I have to wait to see the episode, it seems very little was cut (although the lack of drippy blood makes me nervous for later), and the voice actors seem to be decent. I'm glad they didn't turn this into another Yu-Gi-Oh or Sailor Moon or Tokyo Mew Mew death. Why is it only anime that is taken and butchered to suit the dubbing company's wishes? D:

actually, the two themes for dubbed naruto seems more like a music video of the two beginnings ( i only saw the beggining)
hm.. but if both ytv and toonami spent so much money on naruto.. why did they mess the themes?
i dun think ytv will do the same... since they didnt touch the themes for their other animes... plus they spent a lot on getting naruto... i doubt they mess it up..

I was really disappointed they didn't have Wind either. Wind was one of those endings that made you download the next episode. I could stand Rocks being cut off, but I was pretty angry once they cut out Wind.

Pray hard if you really want it. Sorry to break it to you, but I don't think it will get wind. YTV or Cartoon Network, it was done by Viz and Viz changed both openings and endings. I hope they took them out was simply because of licensing issues, but if I ever find out that they did it just to Americanize it, than shame on them. I just hate it when people think that Americanizing always makes things better. That's why some these kids still think that Japan is a city in China.

Another disturbing/amusing thought for the opening. What if they tried playing "Ninja of the Night" for the theme song? XD

Yeah, you can't say that his voice is anything spectacular, but I liked it because of the visual effects. It showed you what Naruto's childhood was like and it fit with that part of the series. It was beautiful with the butterfly, and his new friends helping him in the end. The music put everything together.

Watch the first dubbed episode tonight and here is what I got to say:

Naruto's voice wasn't that bad, but looked a bit too broken for his age. They removed the nose bleeding part :crying (oh well that one was somewhat expected damn American TV rating system and their lame laws). They made a few errors including the most notciable one by me: The guy calling the Scroll of the Forbidden Seals having containing the jutsus of the First Hokage and not the Forth. But over all it wasn't that bad, oh yeah... Sakura's voice was horrible.

The opening/ending were better visually but the songs (opening) was more like a guy shouting them actually a song, while the ending... I was HOPING FOR WIND but they changed it too!!! Seriously that song was in english and they still didn't put it (it was one of my favorite, always made me nearly cry) :mad .
