:cool Anyone else seen this Anime? I think this is a really good anime. Deals with gangsters and lots of action and really a good drama/action plot.

It's a very good anime. Totaly worth watching. However, I only thought it was good while they where Brandon Heat and Harry McDowel as youngsters.



**SPOILERS**

But when they where Beyond the Grave and the bad-ass boss of the syndicate, it was just silly, didn't like it at all. But while they where youngsters, it was great. Probably one of the best stories in any anime I've seen.

:blink I saw 2 random episodes on TechTV once and I thought the dub was bad. Then again, I don't remember it that well. Can someone post a like where i can download it subbed?

i was disappointed with the ending and didn't care much for the intro and outro but the story line was pretty interesting.. especially how they say their names in japanese... Ballardbird Lee is a mouthful and Bob Poundmax is a fun name to say.

Great anime!!! I got it all of on my computer and I'm trying my hardest to finish the box I purchased not to long ago. Definately one of my favorites.

I saw it a few months ago and it was alright. The flashback episodes were the best part of the whole series. I seriously wished they would have continued in that vein for the rest of the series. The first few episodes I watched I thought Brandon was mute. That struck me as being the coolest thing ever. Really wished they would have stuck with the flashback a bit more.

I know there is a game Gungrave, and I've heard the anime is some what based off of it. Anyone know if that's true?

i think it's true because before i watched the anime i downloaded a clip that came from the game gungrave and how brandon heat fought the big 4 (or whatever they are called). in the anime it's mostly about brandon's life and how he became a part of millennian (sp?) but because in the game brandon's main job was to fight the necrorise, the producers had to include it in the anime too.

I have only seen the first episode of this and I didn't really like it at all. I understand it can be a bit of a slow moving series but it was not my cup of tea.

1. As far as I know, there isn't a manga. 2. There is a thread for Gungrave already around here. and 3. Although this anime was one of the best saddest and intellegent series, it got overlooked badly. But atleast G4techtv is supporting it, but it would've gotten more recognition if it were on AdultSwim.:( Really a great show, it was soo realistic except for the dead parts in there and Beyond the Grave's self. Brandon Heat should be awarded the best new male main character in a series award.

I truly agree gungrave is one of the best anime shows i've seen in a long time. i wish that g4 would just show the whole series instead of repeatedly cutting it off.

Yeaaaaaa...I noticed that too last week. But I think they started showing it all the way through again from the beginning this week. Exactly why were they doing that?!

Yea this show was too underrated. I only got into it because Beyond the Grave looked soo ill. To my surprise he was only there in the begining and near the end. Great series non the less. When I d/l I got it from here http://www.animeyume.org/series.php?id=235&show=torrents

Wow, I have to watch some more of this show. This show has the best song with the beginnning by Scoobie Doo the artist? I dunno. But its a great song and it fits GunGrave great.

The one thing I don't like about Gungrave is some of the black and white scenes, I guess its just me on that one.

Well, they were black and white picture they just had that black and white tint to it. I wasn't upset about that area at all, I was just critcising that one area. Everything else in the show is amazing.

No, the first episode is 'actually' bad. Even I thought of it as that first but go on and watch the whole anime, its great.
If you like the mafia, gun shooting battles and realistic stories that is.

yeah the 1 and the one where its the 1 redone to take up time, those such everythign else is great. I watched the whole thing, but I hated that g4 skiped parts.

the bunji vs. brandon fite was awsum, bunji is just an awsum character. the 1st episode wasnt as bad as everyone kept saying it was, but it wasn't the greatest thing to start off a series with. hehehe, for sum reason i like to call bear walken, terrence, hehehe, i like it, it fits him better.

Glad i'm not the only one who thought so

I shed some tears at the end...ahahaha.....

The series was even good in English, although the Sub version was better.....

You can get the dvd's at the store i think, i got the downloads off bittorent like a year ago, and there isn't a manga it was actually based off the video game

Although it was good, when they were youngsters, I think they should have had more episodes when he was actually beyond the grave.that character has gota b 1 of my favs :)

i got he entire series on dvd b4 it was dubbed.. like in november 2004..
what i found strange was that not many ppl knew the anime.. i was lke '@@ u guys dunno what ur missin!!'

I loved this Anime. What an amazing ending it had. The animation was consistently top quality too, more than I can say for Naruto.

I decided to look on Animenfo's top 200 list awhile back and pick a few series that sounded like what I'm on into. Among others, I picked out Gungrave.
I downloaded the series a few weeks back. Didn't get around to watching since I'm never really in the mood to get into something new. What can I say, I stick to what I know. Anyway, my mother went into hospital a month back and I guess I wanted something to stop me feeling like a terrible person, so I started watching the first few episodes. In the end, I finished the whole series, staying up all night Z.Z.

I can't remember the last time if ever I got into a series plot like I just did with Gungrave. From start to finish, the plot is well done and touching. Actually, I'd expected Gungrave to focus more on action than plot going on the name.
The plot reminds me of Scarface, somewhat, although much more detailed. It starts with a bunch of friends who are in a small time gang in a #### town where murder isn't exactly new. The gang get out of their depth though, leaving main characters and best friends Brandan and Harry alone when all their friends are killed. They end up joining the biggest syndicate around after Harry wanted to move on to bigger and better things - Brandan following - and it all goes wrong from there. Not going to go into details any further because it'd ruin it, but what I will say is the ending is in a class of it's own.

The only bad thing can say about GunGrave is how they "powered up" the characters during the latter half of the series. It went from a fairly realistic mafia story to the point where the main characters could change into monsters. Really, it wasn't THAT bad... just didn't enjoy it much myself.

If you are going to watch Gungrave, know this: The first episode is deceiving. I'd recommend starting at episode 2 since you don't miss anything - Pretty much the same episode appears much later in the story at a time when you understand more.

This serie is a half-masterpiece... The only BAD thing with this was the "Orcman" and "Superior" thingy :/. They shoulda sticked to JUST revival and leave it there :/. Before that shit came along, it was like watching a real life Mafia story...

Quite possibly my favorite anime that didn't last for more than 100 episodes.

It's got a great story, characters, animation is nice, and on and on. It's just awsome.

My fav character... well I guess Bear. He's just too cool.

Had to get my say on this series. It was kick ass and i really really enjoyed the begining and when brendon was killed, even though i knew it was comming, was crazy. So evil, shot by your OWN best friend, sick...i like the ending alot too, it was a nice way to finish it.

One of my favorite anime series. Easily in the spirit of The Godfather trilogy, has some great animation and a good soundtrack, and the characters are some of the best developed ones that you'll find for an action drama in anime. The ending was so damn great and sad, and the final line, "Welcome home..." was very fitting.

it was good....until bear walkin died.

Actually, it was great until it got crazy with the whole zombie-esque treatment that had to be put in from the original game material, then it picked up steam again with Brandon and Bunji's second fight for the twenty-fourth episode, and the last two were just brilliant.
