If 4kids dubbed Naruto

Since I happen to remember the days of PlanetNamek.com, there was always parodies of "If Funi(mation) dubbed <insert anime title>", though that was the early days.

So here, since we all know 4kids is one Hell of a company (emphasis on "Hell"), I guess we oughta play a game from that particular parody.
All of you are willing to participate, post here.

Now, without further ado:

IF 4KIDS DUBBED NARUTO:

- Naruto would be known as "Nathan"
- Sasuke Uchiha would be known as "Sean Johnson"
- Sakura would be known as "Lucy"
- Hokage would be known as "Ninja Boss"
- Sake would be replaced by "Power drink"

When did 4kids say that? Last time I checked One Piece has its fair share of violence... among other shows 4kids have dubbed that's more so than Naruto's (rather not get into any violence argument over which anime has more violence) and 4kids has shown no qualms about cutting out eniter arcs for virtually no reason, well so far in One Piece in the first 40 dub episodes (80 in original animeformat... yes they cut out that much...) they've took out 3 small arcs I believe.

To put it simply if 4kid's dubbed Naruto... well it'd be kind of funny just seeing how bad it is... ...

Yeah, I have thought that Naruto would be known as Nathan if translated into English. Either that or butchered (this is exaggerated), into "Oo-zuu-maah-keey-naah-ruu-douu". Or into "easy makin' Naa ruu dou".
Sasuke would be known as "suh-zoo-kii" (or oo chii haw suh zoo kii)
Sakura would be "suh-koo-ruh"

I can see it now... in 4kids version Naruto's favorite food would be cheeseburgers and his name would be changed to Nicky. Sasuke would be changed to Sammy and Sakura would be changed to Sarah and Kakashi? He'd be changed into Teacher Carl a cool dude who loves to surf (cause he would SO have a surfer dude's accent and who would sound like Michaelangelo from TMNT except that he says a lot of surfing references. He even yells Cowabunga time and again too!) and loves telling jokes out of his favorite book Knock Knock Paradise.

Yondaime would be re-named Naruto in order to not confuse people as to why the SERIES title is called Naruto while the main character is called Nicky.

Gai would probably be the only one who wouldn't get much of a change. He'd just be called Mighty Guy

Neji would become Nigel and Hinata would be changed to Heather or something and they'd be part of the Higgin's clan. Oh and Neji would have a british accent sort of like what they did to Tao Ren in Shaman King. The Byakuugan will probably stay as the evil eye and Nigel would be tragic because the main house used it's evil eye to send his father to the hospital.

Shikamaru would be changed to Shawn and he'd have the shadow FREEZE technique!

Ino would be changed to Ivana or something like that and she'd sound like your typical teenage valley girl who's snobbish.

And Chouji would be changed to Charlie and he'd always make comments about how he could go for a hamburger or some other type of food.

And Asuma? Well he'd be changed to Teacher Arthur a man who has an obsession for lollipops since you never see him without one!

Ah and poor Anko. Her name would be changed to Agatha and would sound like a gruff army sargent.

Also Shino will be re-named to Bob Abbot the friendly bug collector.

Ah and Kiba I forgot about him. He'll be re-named Doug or something and Akamaru will be his faithful pet fluffy. Of course when Akamaru turns red Doug will make a one-liner about Fluffy being a blood hound or something like that. Oh and Doug will sound like Elvis Prestley.

GAH! I forgot about TenTen! Not really surprising since she is just SO un important but she'd be re-named to Tina and that's all I can say.

Kankurou would become Kenny and he would fight along with his magical puppet pals.

Poor Temari she's beome Tabitha or something... sorry it's hard to think of a good name since Tsunade would be re-named Tammy. Anyways Tabitha would make all these wind puns and summon out her mighty ferret spirit friend to help her.

but that's not the worst part Gaara would be turned into Gary a scotsman stereotype with a scottish accent becasue in the new, better version of Naruto (In which the main character is indeed called Nicky and there is never any explanation as to what this Naruto is), Gaara will be Gary the stereotypical scottish person (As said before)... who, with his powerful attacks, Sandy Puddle and Sandy Hug will hug all the people he sees, and he will be tragic because he can't touch people becasue he has that disease in which you get blisters whenever you touch someone) YES! Major points with the parents, since they like series with disabled kids in any way or shape), so he get's all clingy with people with his sand instead of his hands. It's the only way he can have contact with another human being, you see. And Shukaaku will be his enchanted Racoon-friend who talks with a street-accent and protects him all the time. They probably make up an entire excuse for the fight between Gamatutsa and Shuukaku as well. Oh the joy. Oh the rapture.

Also Itachi would be changed to Izzy. He would not have annihalated his clan oh no. He would have just sent them all on a vacation to the world's biggest amusement park and Sasuke wouldn't want to kill Itachi he'd just want to beat him up for forgetting to give him a ticket because he always loved rollar coasters.

Oh and Orochimaru would be turned into Evil Oslo master of the eyeshadow of DOOM! who would be voiced by Eric Stuart and sound more campy than James from pokemon and Pegasus from Yugioh COMBINED! And Manda will be his pet Slimy.

Tsunade - Tammy. Her chest will scar children forever, so it will always be edited to look like she's holding two garbage can lids in front of her chest.

Jiraiya - He'll be Shimmy Jimmy or something. Something that just makes him loud and FUN, while he makes awesome jokes about the weather. He's an aspiring stand-up commedian.

Itcha Itcha Paradise will become Knock Knock Paradise! Shimmy Jimmy's greatest collection of knock knock jokes! Teacher Karl just LOVES those jokes. He'd laugh, and his blushing is because he couldn't figure out one and was caught surprised.

Instead of being dangerous, Zabuza's, er Geeky Zeek, real offense would be to say 'People who enjoy Shimmy Jimmy's jokes have a terrible sense of humor! He's not funny!' and Teacher Karl would whip out his sharingan, er, Sharing Man, eye, which only special people like Sammy and Izzy would have. See, because you have to be a caring person. Izzy sent the whole clan on a long vacation, but forgot Sammy's ticket! It's only natural that Sammy searches Izzy out, because the family forgot Sammy! Oh no! The anime already made Sasuke into a real caring guy, so it's only natural he had his Sharing Man eye.

Also I just thought of something... in Nicky: Future King of the Leaf when Sammy leave Konoha to go to Evil Oslo master of the eyeshadow of DOOM! He's going because Oslo said he could give Sammy a ride to the amusement park where his family is at. Nicky and the other's then chase after him pissed that he didn't invite them too.

They're trying to get people off their back for only using one accent or something (that's also the reason you see some dark skinned people, to show dark skinned people in the show).

Woah, woah. One Piece is an amazing anime. Character designs are a bit out of the ordinary, I agree, but it's nothing next to Bobobo-bobo-bobo. And if you've been following Naruto subbed, then you would say that One Piece has a reasonable amount of fillers. Even if there are more total filler episodes in One Piece, they aren't lasting for over one season at a time, and they also are actually enjoyable to watch.

By "that dub", I assuming you mean Naruto. Trust me, it was left almost completely uncut. One Piece's plot was actually altered at some points. Example:

I believe they still call the Kyuubi/Nine-tailed Fox a demon in the Naruto dub. He would be called a monster in a 4Kids dub. It would take away the whole point of having a different kind of chakra.

And the character who was first introduced in chapter 199 (can't find the episode #, and saying his name would be a spoiler) will be cut. Anyone who saw the original can look him up, and you'll agree that there's no way he can get through 4Kids censors. Even after the change made to him in the original anime. (A mod can edit this part of the post if it's too much of a spoiler, or the thread can be moved to House of Uzumaki.)

Notice that pokemon was a very big hit in japan and i think it was banned in one country for warping kids minds so if 4kids dubbed naruto think about all these little kids that would go around with maybe orange clothes and pink hair.almost doing something that pokemon did.But im sure it wouldnt do that.:tem
actually in the countries that pokemon was shown outside of japan there bwere numerous episodes completely banned for various reasons including violence, the menacing of childern with fire arms, references to hitler (ie Meowth wears a hitler mustashe.) sexual referances (ie certian characters cross dressing cough James cough.) and even going so far as removing an episode for causing seisures all of this infromation can be found on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banned_episodes_of_Pok%C3%A9mon

Well, i'm probably just repeating what everyone else said, but if 4Kids dubbed Naruto:
- The voices wouldn't be half as good as the Viz version and everyone will have weird accents to be "diverse".
- The original music will be cut and will be replaced with a continuous droning beat, because Kahn knows that if there's no music, the kiddies will get bored!
- 5-10 minutes will be cut from every episode with multiple episodes cut for no particular reason.
- All terminology will be replaced with easy-to-remember, americanized words.
- Naruto: *eating from ramen bowl*, "This cheeseburger is great!"
- Naruto won't be changed, because he's the main character, but will its pronunciation will be butchered and everyone else's names will be godawful.
- All weapons will be colored green and no one will actually get hit with them. That's the ninja way, threaten your enemy with plastic ku--i mean, pointy rocks!
- Haku will be a girl and any mention of death in his past will be cut. Haku will be Zabuza's adopted "daughter" because he felt sorry for him when he found him. Any mention of being a kill machine will be cut.
- The dialogue will be severely altered to exempt any mention of threats, death, other touchy subjects that is too extreme for 6 year olds.
- As with 4kids tradition, Naruto will get the most ridiculous opening you could ever imagine; filled with cliched lines and a teeny-bopper beat.
- Kyuubi/9-tails will be an bad spirit, not a demon. It will be painted white to give an obvious nod to the pokemon, Nine-Tails.
- Any writing will be erased because 4Kids has something against reading, english or not. o_O
- In terms of violence, like i mentioned earlier, no one ever gets hit with "pointy-rocks", no strangulation, no heavy punches or kicks, and any "pointy-rocks" are painted further away to tone down the implication of danger.
- All blood is erased and any scenes with a lot of people "knocked-out" are cut.
- 4KIDS WOULD MARKET THE HELL OUT OF NARUTO...wait, isn't Viz already doing that? XD
- Sexy no jutsu? Gone. In fact, any large lumps or bulges will be reduced to make sure no child has a dirty thought about any character!

Though one thing I wouldn't mind about 4kids is that tendancy they have to change even the main character's coice actor mid series or from the TV to DVD transition.


Maybe 4kids would have given Maile Flannigan the boot? Not bloody likely but t'was a hope no?

It doesn't matter who dubs Naruto, it's far behind the japanese version anyway. Maybe I would watch it for amusement to see how much they changed it.

Though the edits would make me wanna hurl at least I won't have tow rry bout my ears bleeding.

Best thing about 4kids if they did do it? The DVD version might have an unedited version so then you would have a better dub & few edits... Just gotta put up w/ stupid name and cultural changes...


Oh well hard to decide who is the lesser evil when we are talking either worse dub or worse edits. I am undecided.

11)Kids WB! would air a stupid, underdeveloped commercial for season two in which Nathan the Ninja would use his 'summoning jelly' for his summoning technique to summon a giant Pikachu that hops around, shaking the forest. Then the announcer would say "Nathan the Ninja! Season Two premiering at 10 a.m./9 a.m. central. Only on Kids WB!" and Naruto following with a lame catch phrase. (I meant Season 2 because the chuunin exams would probably be cut)

Yeah, they would market the hell out of it. And don't forget the cheesy costumes with foam hair and the Naruto logo printed largely on the front of the costume and the name of the character printed in bold on the back. You just gotta love hollow'een, don'tcha?
