It's a cool tut, it'll help the newbies for sure. Good job.

i usually do 2 gaussian blur (7 - 15px) layers (settings: overlay or soft light) with the stock resized 2x, and then 1x motion blur layer if needed. Usually the blending mode is linear light, vivid light or hard light... the latest is good for default.
Don't forget to play with the opacities too.

ps. offence, but don't beg for reputation raises, it's forbidden and looks ridiculous. Added it still...

i just read back on it and the tutorial is set out pretty well for photoshop you shouldnt be having too many troubles with it
