Monster is a great story and you need to think of it, and its 19 volumes so we should finish it ina few weeks.

Ok so I read the first volume. Certainly seems very interesting. Lot's of questions are raised from this. Like who is this guy? What happened to the twins when they were kids?

very interesting and eventful, something the newspaper guy said really did stand out though, he mentioned that the murders could only be the work of a demon, do you think this is a sign on what's to come and is the demon somehow controlling Johan? and also the gun training at the end of volume 2, it seems like Tenma is out to kill Johan

Yeah have to agree with you about Tenma training to kill him. The demon thing? Well there is definately something up with this kid. A demon though? I think was more a figure of speech.

Gonna be interesting to see what Anna does (or Nina whatever you wanna call her) Cos she is obviously going after him as well. I hope we get to hear from her a bit too. Also what's up with the tie thing? Why did he leave it behind?

He left the tie behind coz he tied the man who was working for Johan up with it, coz the man tried to kill Tenma on the castle, I'm more tempted to believe that Johan is just a one in a million genius, who maybe has gone slightly mad due to his knowledge at such an early age, that's how he always manages to get away from the crimes, the demon theory just shows that he kills without remorse

I think Anna will show up again, I believe that hers and Tenma's fate's are crossed and they cannot escape the final showdown with Johan, she's killed him once, who's to say she can't do it again?

Ah I knew their must be a reason for the tie thing. I think it will be hard to believe that Johan is just a genius. I'm hoping for a better explanation than that.

Presuming one of them kill Johan. Who do you think it will be, Anna or Tenma?

I really had no other idea about how Johan is able to commit such deed's except that maybe theres more to the demon theory than meets the eye, i honestly think that it will be Tenma who finally kills Johan, he brought him back to life and he can take that life away from him, It would be a fitting end

Yeah but in some ways Anna deserves to kill him after what he has done to her. But why does he keep killing these people? Also why does he want to take Anna on her 20th birthday? Why now?

Theres something iffy about the whole situation, Johan needs Anna for something, but what I don't know, revenge seems to be out of the question because he was the one who told her how to kill him, there's something more that we've yet to find out about, also his murder's seem to be of people who he uses, but then has no futher use for, I don't think many of the murder's have been just pointless

Yes he definately need's Anna for something. It wouldn't be revenge cos otherwise he would have just killed her there and then. But why did he tell her to kill him? What could each person give him that the ones before couldn't? Also why does no one really remember him?

Most people don't even know hes back, they still think he's missing with his sister, maybe he told her to shoot him because somehow he knew he wouldn't die, and would come back with something extra maybe, maybe the people he killed were just in his way and stopping him from achieving his goals, with the theory Johan is linked to a demon then maybe the deaths are because he needs certain soul's, although that is a wild theory that i have little evidence to back up and i'm more inclined to believe that they were just obsticles to him

I'm pretty certain he couldn't know he would survive. Why do you think Anna feints everytime she sees him? Just the traumatic experience they wen't through.

Also think back to when they were in the hospital. When he was crying and holding out his hand. Right now that seems very uncharacteristic of him. I guess if we know why he did that, we might know why he needs Anna now.

I'm afraid the soul theory is a little to farfetched for me.

It's complete rubbish and even i know that :laugh however whatever he need's Anna for I doubt he'll keep her alive after her usefulness is gone, what we really need to know is why he kept killing the people who were looking after him, theres something wrong with Johan and its quite strange to be a murderer at that tender age, the whole thing stinks but i just can't see any motives anywhere

There is just so much we don't know right now, just gonna have to keep reading. Must say though the manga is really good at the moment.

One more question, what you think Tenma is gonna say to the newspaper?

Well I read 2 volumes a while ago (that was after already watching about 10 anime episodes long ago). Monster is good but I find it very overrated. But still quite interesting. Though probably going to end up reading a lot of it at once.

Monster isn't really a publicized anime, it isn't talked in the streets not a lot of people know about it. I would like to know why its overrated? Can't blame you, thinking its overrated. Well from what I usuaully see quite a lot of people have read Monster and go on to proclaim it the "Greatest Thing Ever." At least for the anime that's definitely the case. It's not that I don't like Monster.

i read 1-5 today, must say, it's quite an attention getter. the end of volume five really leaves you hanging about what happens after you finally see what happens.
finally the officer meets tenma again, but seeing that guy come out and stab the officer was unexpected for me. thinking about it naturally though, he could have easily realized that eliminating the officer would be the best way to protect himself since he really didn't know the guys motive for pushing the case as being linked the the earlier killings. as for the boy, would johan be the monster side of him? since we might be able to assume by now that he does a have split personality. would he need nina to get rid of him/his monster side/save him?

Well just read through volume 4. Things are getting interesting. Glad Johan didn't do what those "Four" were planning (well Wolf wasn't really planning that.) as if it turned inot a Tenma vs. Orginization of Neo-Nazi... it'd just be bleh... and it would lower Johan's character quite a bit. Like the whole "Johan doesn't care about your petty racism and prejudice." Johan hates all humanity comment by Tenma. And Nina is really reminding me of Kanna from 20th Century Boys...
