BA Battledome New Tournament Voting Thread [Archive]

Well, as you can see from the trials, the upcoming 24-point tournament may have not been a good idea.

Even if we bring our old tier list back, we will still have to somehow make the tourney interesting, which is not an easy task since the high tiers would not be that versatile compared to VCs who will get one-shotted. Just compare characters like Shawlong, Renji (bankai), and Po to Kira, Rukia or Yumichika - surely the strats involving them would not be nearly as creative. Some of us wanted to give the tourney another chance, while others suggested making another one based on the original tier list, or even move on right to T2.

Therefore, we've decided to make a poll that will be active for the next 48 hours to determine which kind of tournament we want to host. The options in the poll above are all I could remember, so I hope I didn't forget anything important.

Feel free to discuss etc.

Yeh. Fix the tier list, and then Davy Back

24point is too unblanced, and by making it balanced, would mean having a tourney of fodder, which would be boring ultimately.

I say we fix the tier list (removing Grimm, Noi Kenpachi etc), and then go for it. We can always come back to 24 point. Atleast we now know that it needs alot of trialing to work out how to balance it properly

Is the amount of points you win from each victory a fixed amount?

Seems like a decent concept, but wouldn't the teams in the Finals be absolutely massive and require like 3 days just to make a strat, 2 hours to write it up, and like 10 days for people to read the strats and vote?

Basically this. You get a set amount of points every round you defeat someone. You can choose to save your points or buy someone from the team you defeated. If you save up your points you get the ability to buy more expensive characters but you will be at a disadvantage if someone else bought some characters prior to your next match. Sounds complicated but it is fun.

I'm thinking Tag or Davy Back..

How exactly would we do tag? How many pts per person and can one person use 70pts and the other 30?

Would amalgam just be mixing zanpakuto components or what? There doesn't seem to be much ability diversity in Bleach.

First off, we're not tag, it was a failure in the OPBD, and will be here too. And we're not doing amalgam yet, we still need need to establish ourselves with the normal tier list first, before making new ones

Whatever tourney it is, it should be using the normal tier list; as I said, we need to establish ourselves with the basics first. During the next tourney (either normal or DB) we can all think of a new unique Bleach-style tourney, if there is one to be thought of.

But yeh, DB all the way

Davy Back would be more interesting than T2, which would just be a T1 clone until we get more manga fights. (Although we could add a few characters like Harribel now, imo)

Yeh randomising teams every round, and having to write seperate strategies jsut made it over complciated in the OPBD, and it jsut didnt work

Probably team up from the very start, make essentially 1 team (well, 2 separate ones that each make 76, working together) and fight just like in the regular tournament. Of course it would get more messy but we would probably make it interesting by making allied teams start on the different sides of the map, and well, in Bleach such a mess may be even more interesting just because we have strong characters working together.

At least thats how I picture it. Randomizing allies won't do.

you guys over complicated it on the OPBD. Pick teammates. both go over a strat via pm/messanger/whatever. Then they can make the strat together or separately.

Pfft :-( More like a few months, I really don't think we need a year to hold two tournaments and organize the third one. Especially when we don't need to create a brand new tier list for any of those.

Were not in a rush to have more than 3 tournaments in a span of a year. Let's try to even space out tournaments. There will be some down time during tournaments anyways.

I'm really wondering what are those "rush" concerns about :S

I mean, we've gathered 8 people to do a trial in just 1 day. I see all or almost all the regulars online most of the day. Why would we make a break if nobody needs it? It'd be another story if we had several regulars busy with exams or w/e.

I need the break time to collect data and research :smoke

Kidding lol but I'd like if the tourney was in like 2 weeks or something....(really wants to use Mashiro :D )

I'd like it if we got chapters with new feats and stat displays, but you know Bleach pacing..

Honestly though, there's no rush. It'd reduce interest and participation than if we'd wait a bit. The regular, non-match threads around here haven't received much attention for a while either.
