I really didn't like Mogemi at first. I just find her to be a ... well I guess "annoying" "jerk", etc... . Quite rude I'll say. She'd be better if she was a bit less hateful towards Yamamoto more often. Though she seems to possibly have a reason for doing so (though I doubt it'd be a good reason.) Though I don't hate her that much anymore. I also like how Yamamoto actually fights back against females when needed (maybe not phsyically of course...) instead of simply succumbing to their every will like the rest of the males(not just in this manga as I find that there are a lot of spineless males in other mangas of the same genre)...

Yup i agree, i like with the way Danjou Yamato is a person with some guts, a leader as opposed to some wimps like other main characters in other mangas.

But i do like Mogami, she is one of my favorite characters. I like how she isn't so easy to "figure out" like so many other female characters usually are

Yeah, my favorite thing about the manga so far is how Yamato is totally unafraid to speak his mind and put the bitches in their place. Well, that and Mogami's cleavage.

Can't say I care for Mogami's incredibly sped up PMS cycle (sweet for a while, then a total bitch at random), though. She better have a damn good reason, although I'm pretty sure I won't find it to be good enough.

Well,the manga is okay for up to Volume 3. It has some big ass chapters too. Well, I sort of like Yamato with his 'I don't care what you say I am going to say it' attitude. I kinda like Mogami but sometimes I think she is just an ass. Some of the jokes are kinda funny, but most of the time they aren't. It seems this manga has an FMP relevance.

Hmm, Banjo's relationship with his sister reminds me of a reverse situation of the Sotomura relationship...It seems to me like she has a crush on banjo.... weird.....But I also tend to think the "sister" complex happens quite a bit in any brother/sister combo...

Was it just me or did anyone else feel like punching out some of those girls at Banjo's new Highschool? After reading just 2 chapters I had to go running to cool off the pent up aggression......Arrrr!

The relationship between Maki & Danjo reminds me alot of the relationship between Futaba & Takasaki from Green Green. A very nice guy that has good relationship with most of the girls except one certain that is strongwilled, moody and just full of tardness that will in the end, end up with the nice guy. I really wonder what happened between Mitsuki & Maki & Danjo

This is an OK serie, definatly readable, not a favorit and not a shitty manga. I wanted to a bit more boxing in the story, its like 2-3 boxing scenes in 7 volumes or something.

Well, so far I've only read four volumes (in my defense, I'm reading other things at the same time). I gotta say, after reading he was a boxer, I was kinda hoping that this manga would have focuses relating to the characters' lives outside of romance. It would still principally be a romance manga, but straying for the "which do I like? Do either of them like me? Uh oh, a misunderstanding! That's -1 relation point!" plot at least once in a while would definitely add interest and originality in my book. I guess romance manga just aren't my style. I mean, it can be interesting, but I don't think there's enough meat on the bone to make a manga completely focused on it. Seems like it would be better as something put on the side of something else.

On the other hand, fanservice is a nice staple of the romance genre. Unfortunately, OS doesn't excel at fanservice enough to keep my attention despite not caring for the plot, like Ichigo 100% did. I'll probably read a couple more volumes, anyway... I kinda liked things at the start, so it may take that direction again sometime.

While I'm at it, favorite girls, anybody?

I have read first three volumes so far. Have a friend over to stay so haven't had much time. At the moment I'm just waiting for something to happen. There isn't enough in the plot at the moment for my liking.

Favourite girl? Hmmm I dunno I thought it was pretty funny how Yayoi used the guys like that and Yamato says that he is scared of what she will become.

Yeah... if you haven't already, you might wanna look for a different bittorrent client like BitTornado or BitComet. They allow you to choose out of the batch which ones to download first, or whether or not to download some or not... quite handy when the only torrent available includes all 75 episodes and the two lengthy OVAs.

Cheers man and I agree with the reccomendation of Hajime no Ippo. I'm half way through the 4th volume of OS now. Hopefully finish tomorrow. Oh and fireball you interested in joining the reading group? This is the first manga we are reading as part of it.

Ok so two more days until we can talk about the last five volumes.

I have read the first five volumes, it's not too bad so far. But I dunno there isn't enough happening for my liking. I'm guessing it revolves around whatever happened in their childhood. But it just feels like so many references to it now, they should just tell us already.

however i am actually very interested in the manga. im in the middle of volume 6 now. hopefully they tell us soon what happened in the past rather than at the end of the manga.

They havn't yet said it in volume 10, so I think they will at the end of the manga, but I'm not sure.

yea i know i just finished volume 10. but actually it is ok with me now. because they have gotten so much closer that even when it is revealed, there love for each other won't just spring up. it has been building up for awhile and once that is resolved it will just be iceing on the cake for their relationship.

Well, I read another couple of volumes, and I have to say that the childish one of the four queens is definitely the best character. Outside of the fanservice, she's the main reason I have to read this, despite the fact that she doesn't really get too much of the spotlight.

the only thing i dont' like about characters like her is how they act like an animal. like she acts like a cat sometimes with the myo at the end of sentences and it just feels alittle stupid to me. otherthan that i like her as a character and she has got some decent screentime.

i think it was fun for me the first time i saw it. but now that i've seen it in a couple mangas now, it has just become annoying. romance mangas tend to be more realistic, and someone acting like a cat doesn't seem very realistic to me.

Well if you look at her Ichigo 100% counterpart Chinami, she's ALOT less annoying than her and I prefer the Meowing over referring to yourself in the 3rd person....But overall, I tend to not like those types of characters who get attention than way.
yea i guess if you look at it that way then i certainly prefer her over chinami. i don't like chinami that much at all.

however its really hard for me to even compare ichigo 100% and OS. simply because while they are in the same category type of manga, they are very different than each other, at least to me.

What happens when we finish the 10 available chapters and are left with an unfinished manga? Do we just move on and pick another or what?

And Ive only read up to Vol 4.....but man....Danjou needs to stick with Yayoi or Maki's little sister...Mogami is too moody and cryptic...I don't need to explain miss myo girl (she's prolly gonna end up with That blonde haired guy...don't remember his name), and it also looks like Tone and Ise(?) might hook up as well.

Shino....everytime I read her name Im always think about Shino Aburame from Naruto and get the wrong picture in my head.....and Junpei (that little brat), also messes me up..

Alright, I read all ten volumes (dont tripp i wont spoil) and one of the things I like about this manga is the dude Danjou, because unlike most romantic based mangas the main guy is usually a dork sometimes indecisive or totally untalented or somebody with no backbone. But this guy cool he's not all like "oh no, what should I do now" he knows what he wants, not afraid to stand up to somebody, and is a raw ass boxer. Even in one of the best romantic/comedy mangas Ichigo 100%, the dude's kind of dorky, now dont get me wrong Ichigo's a great manga along with others but for once i just wanted to see a guy whom i can actually respect in in some way.

Give me some feedback you'all.

Yup yup, thats exactly what I was thinking yo, and yeah thats probably why they make the main charters so damn geeky in the first place, they probably think they'd relate better something, but you know what, if I was a typical manga geek Id wanna see somebody who I could look up to, not some dork guy who "somehow" gets all the hottest girls in town all over him.

And this is why I sometimes stick to action mangas like Bleach or something, cause the main dude's not a danm pussy, and that just gets on my nerves after a while, even if all the girls in the manga are hella hot.

Agreed. I mean, I guess the usual Keitaro-like guy would be easier for the typical manga geek to identify with, but then again, how many typical manga geeks can identify with his situation in the first place? If we had a pack of girls all over us then we wouldn't be reading manga anyway.

Err, anyway, so yeah, Danjou's not being a pussy is certainly one of the manga's finer points.

i like how its not a "choose" type romance manga. where the main character has all this confusion in his head about which girl he likes. while it does exist, it is much less then you would typically see or even expect from this type of manga.

I have read all ten volumes, and Mogami is being more and more affectionate towards Danjou with each chapter. Especially the last one. I am dissapointed though that we still don't know what happened in their past. What do you guys think it was?

Oh he is, i must have forgot then because i read it awhile ago. I thought he took her to the university and then Yura said she was happy to hang out with him etc...

But Amagi still has to have feelings for her, i mean its hard to suppress them when he has declared his love for her as a "man". I thought the awkward situation dictated Amagi's response (about staying brothers and sisters and not forcing Mogami to answer) but they weren't a representation of his true feelings.

Its hard to say what happened in the past. I wish they gave more clues. At first i thought Mitsuki was dead but then that old man talked to Mogami about has she talked to Mitsuki yet hinting that he was alive. So confusing...

But Amagi has been gradually liking Yura more and more. Also the fact that we are seeing less of him suggests he isn't gonna be with Mogami.

I gotta say with Mutsuki, it's a bit werid. Not often do you have a character mentioned so often with important stuff and not have a clue who this person is. I guess we will find out eventually.

When Yamato yelled out, telling Mutsuki to run away. That kind of suggests that it was something bad happened. Perhaps they were beaten up or something and Yamato stood his ground while Mutsuki ran away. Then Yamato wanted to become stronger and so he became a boxer. Something along those lines anyway.

Yeah Im pretty sure that the thing that happened was something bad, most likely something evolving fire and or lightening since thats what triggered the break down, and that bad event caused him to have the memory loss he has about the past. Also it seemed whenever Mogami thought about Mitsuki she seemed somewhat apologetic to him, so maybe she did something to hurt him, like maybe Mitsuki liked her and she turned him down because of Danjou.

oh yeah, you know what, it could have just been the act of protecting someone, that brought up what happened, if thats what happened with Mitsuki.

Well even though we will be starting a new manga that doesn't mean we must stop discussing/reading Open Sesame.

I have been following this manga for awhile now and its not like Ichigo 100% where Yanime takes multiple months to release the next volume. But they don't have set dates, they release it randomly

Well *scratches head* I liked it.......not as much as ichigo, but worth keeping on my computer. Ill continue watching out for new chapters in this one. It a unique type of harem....the girls actually have a reason to like him, theres a bit of mystery and history, and if there's boxing it's only a plus for me.

I'd give it a B+

Ill give it a 8/10, not because it was really anything memorable but as I said before it really gets on my nerves when these guys with no backbone come in and every single girl seems to fall in love with him. So this was a big change in pace for a romance based manga which all seem to follow that same overused pattern.

I think its pretty hard to call the ending right now. I wanna say things will work out with Mogami and Danjou but Aoi is definitely the wildcard here. Also the past has not been revealed yet with Mogami/Mitsuki, so who knows maybe there might have been a some kinda crush between them.
Yup, finally somebody who appreciates it, just joking, but this manga relies on the guy having a different problem to overcome, not being spineless or indecisive (which has been way overdone) but a memory block and events from the past. Its still not a ground breaking manga but definitely an improvement from what I’ve seen so far.

Volumes are released about every 6 months. Volume 15 came out about a month ago, so it goes up to at least volume 15.

Thought I would bring this thread back. This manga is still continuing and is on chapter 56. Was wondering if anyone still is reading this, and what their thoughts are on it?

Eh, I lost interest to this series last chapter I read was 51 I think. So far the love romance is going nowhere just got so annoyed by that I just gave up. Maybe I'll pick it up again later on. I guess I can say the same thing about Pastel though I'm still reading that mainly because it's still enjoyable but damn the romance is going nowhere too. sigh. lol :notrust

Yea. I just finished chapter 57 and the romance between the two main characters seems to progressing somewhat.

Danjou started to remember some things about the past now and mogami is trying to get him to remember everything. But at least the subject was brought up and now danjou knows that an event is missing from his memory.

i knew it would be a good idea to bring it back. it is a good series.

if only the volumes were released more often. hard for conversation to flow consistently for this series when there is such a large time span between one volume and the next.
