Genre: Action, Sci-fi, Comedy
Needless is set in the future, after World War III. Because of the events of WWIII, specifically the bombings, a black hole has appeared in what was once Tokyo. The inhabitants of this area have gained special powers called "Fragments". The city's people on the outside have a label for those that have these strange powers: "Needless.
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 :pek

Genre: Drama
The series is set in Tokyo after an earthquake measuring a magnitude 8.0 on the Richter scale shakes the city's foundations and landscape, resulting in the Tokyo Tower, Rainbow Bridge and other noted landmarks falling.[1][2] It will follow siblings Mirai and Yūki, who were visiting a robot exhibition in Odaiba at the beginning of their summer vacation, as they struggle to reach their mother in their house in Setagaya assisted by a female motorcycle courier named Mari.
Umineko no Naku Koro ni

Genre: Drama, Mystery, Psychological thriller
Umineko no Naku Koro ni takes place in the year 1986, during the time frame of October 4 and October 5 on a secluded island named Rokkenjima (六軒島, Rokkenjima). After the eight family members arrive, a typhoon traps them on the island and shortly after people start to get mysteriously murdered.

Wonder what I'll go for. :hehee
I'm picking Umineko. T'is a fine time for it to be AotM, it's about to enter what I think is the game's seminal arc, so it should be interesting to see animated. Expect childhood dreams brought to life in a fascinatingly morbid way, gritty dug up past tales, a rather abrupt ending, horribly twisted fantastical creatures, and of course, nobody being who they appear to be. I assure you all, it'll be some ride.

I think Tokyo should win due to this week's episode, but it's obviously not. No matter if Umineko is crap, it still has it's fans from the previous series behind it.

even though i like tokyo magnitude,i had to vote for needless :awesome.
I voted for NEEDLESS not the pile of shit Umineko. I mean really that shit umineko is just witches and whores, no artistic value and I only watch deep anime for deep and mature people such as myself.

I don't actually watch Umineko at all, but I support its discussion over Needless, which is just tits and explosions regardless of how awesome it may be. Umineko has pretentious pseudo-intelligence for people to orgasm over.
Goddamit, Tokyo Magnitude should have taken last month. That would have been SO good with all the speculation about Yuuki. I can't vote for it now, though ;__;

1) Its ending next week.
2) I doubt it would be active. Though, I don't think it would be less discussable than Canaan/Michiko to Hatchin.

The last episode will have premiered a mere two days after the sub forum opens up. What are we going to do with the nearly 4 weeks worth of time when the series is already over?

Something tells me the finale will be one that will make you think, judging by the tone of the story and the penultimate episode.

im lookin forward to umineko as AOTM, but i have a request for all the people that will be involved... can we make sure anime discussion and VN discussion is kept very VERY separate? ive stopped visiting the umineko thread because there is very little anime discussion that goes on there, it seems to be 95% VN.

It'll be easy to keep the episode discussion threads about the episode but people still like to comment on how things were changed or cut from the visual novel. But those aren't spoilers, so they shouldn't be a problem. As for the main Umineko thread. All discussions about later events are in spoiler tags. As long as you don't open any spoiler tags (especially unmarked ones. Those are most dangerous) then you should be fine. The reason why it's mostly VN talk is because VN readers are mostly the ones posting. Anime only watchers should post more. It's good to be scared of spoilers but I think the thread does a good job keeping spoilers in tags. A lot better than some other threads.

i agree most of the spoilers are tagged but since its mostly VN readers posting in the main thread there isnt much that an anime only watcher can talk about and occasional spoilers slip through into some of the untagged posts :(
i did try reading the visual novel but got annoyed with the repetitive music and having to clip the mouse after every 10 words that popped up on the screen :notrust

Because Canaan doesn't deserve more than 30 days and rather than filling the area with empty space, the next AotM title will start.

AotM has been starting/ending half way through months to account for new season scheduling...or something like that.
