I'd like your guys opinion

I'm making a D&D campaign set in a world consumed by magic such that the planet is covered in water and the weather is extremely changeable, The players are playing as pirates, the devil fruits exist.

I originally wanted the devil fruit since my players are good at breaking the game, even without spell-casters allowed they still wreck anything their level. But now I'm tasked with giving them a fruit they're on a quest to find, it's the only one in the campaign for them and there's 4 people.

I need a fruit that's good, with room to grow, that's not too ungodly broken. No logia, none of the newer ridiculous paramecia like the castle fruit or the ghost fruit.

I'm thinking probably a zoan, or maybe a weakened version of a good paramecia, like a paw fruit that allows the user to deflect arrows or projectile spells.

If any of you guys play D&D, What fruit do you think would be good here?

It would be difficult to add fruits to a D&D game. Zoans would be easy to add, paramecia would be difficult to add to any dice/chance roleplay

What version of D&D are you playing? Because 4th edition doesn't have the broken elements to it that 3.5 had.

And I think the idea of adding fruits are kinda retarded, but if you're going to do it, I would recommend making them something like artifacts. You know, where they have different powers and shit based on the connection you have to the artifact. Course, that's 4th edition artifacts, so you'd have to be playing 4th. If it's 4th edition you're playing, you could just use the fruits to tweak the powers your characters have access to, or use the fruits to open up class powers from classes you generally have barred, like your arcane spellcasters, or perhaps that spell plague class in the FR Player's Guide.

3.5, everyone I play with is pretty against 4th, and we have all the books. Plus I feel 4th ed limits you for the sake of limiting. if a cleric can make an undead army, you should be able to follow a similar plan.

it's not so bad to work actually, for example

Chop chop fruit: Immunity to slashing weapons, 15/ piercing weapons, melee attack range increased to 30 feet, add in some weaknesses to trip and some AC modifications for hitting individual parts and I had a pretty workable villain.

It's not like i'm giving them kizaru's fruit or anything, several devil fruit can be quite useful without being ridiculously broken. Mr.2's fruit, or ms. Doublefingers fruits would be examples.

Absalom and Robin's devil fruits might be good and not too broken.

Limit Robin by only being able to sprout a limited amount of body parts per day without rest like 2 eyes or 2 whatever on level 1 or something.

Limit Absalom by only being able to stay invisible for a limited amount of spaces and when they get the fruit to like level 8 let them be able to turn other objects invisible.

I donno I've only played DnD like four times but those are two fruits I wouldn't mind having with my Barbarian. Sprout two extra arms on myself dang

You ought to. And once you get past the part where spellcasting is nerfed for balance reasons, it's a fuck ton of fun to play, and no one really minds playing something like a cleric.
