So, I was browsing through the Fan Fiction forum, and I couldn't help but notice that there is an awful lot of Naruto fanfics in here (which, I suppose, is the point of the forum). I'm not against that or anything, but I am curious to find out if anyone likes to write their own work (Featuring their own characters, settings and storylines).

Me; I used to write fanfictions, but I became bored with it and moved on to indirect satire, and again to straight out Original Fiction. I love to write and create stories, but I also take it seriously, and I can never just sit down and write random junk. I always put a lot of thought into my projects, and that means I usually never finish what I start because my ideas keep changing over and over.

So, how about you? I would be overjoyed to meet some other people who write OFs. I'm mainly surrounded by fanfic writers and non-writers (and angsty poet types :oh ).

I'm always thinking of writing original fics, but somehow the ideas walk off and ditch me. :cry

Like the time when I thought of a AU Naruto fic with ALL original characters, and the main characters were ANBU... :( I hope I can find that idea again. The only thing I remember is the two twins I made up... :scry

I have the exact opposite problem. I ordinarily write original fiction, or parody on a really vast scale, but when I try to write fanfics, the inpiration always drops out from under me before I really get going.

I am unpublished, but I have written a book called the Book of Hondo, which I have posted here in this forum. It is a warped relgious text / epic adventure about nothing, and includes parodies and references to many things both real and fictional. Feel free to enjoy; it is still an on-giong thread here.

And I would be very interested in reading anything of yours, if you either post it here, or else post a link to someplace that won't mess up my roomie's comp.

I started by writing fanfiction (The majority of which was satirical in nature, either by being a direct parody or just parodying concepts), but slowly over a period of years I started to lose interest in writing about the creations of other people. Currently I'm working on a project called 'Estra' (Or more specifically, 'Estra Redux' due to the fact that this is the second time I've attempted it. :P). It's slow going, but it feels liberating to finally be able to create my own characters.
