This one dream of mine changed me on the deepest level.

It was a sunny day, with just my mom and I cruising down the road, me staring out the window in day-dream as usual. In the blue truck in front of us, there was a rough character who appeared distressed. As I stared on in wonder, he picked up a silver revolver and stuck it up to the roof of his mouth. He pulled the trigger; a huge popping sound; our windshield was broken; my forehead was bleeding profusely as I passed on into darkness.

Peace filled every inch of my body and mind.

I felt like I was going home, from this rough life, back to where I'd been before, happy and complete. All my suffering was gone, wiped away with my worries and fears.

I was never quite the same since.

Have any of you had a similar experience? What do you think it means, like this dream, to understand death psychologically?

Well only the dead knows what death is truly like....

From what we see the brain cuts off all movement from the body so we can assume that that person is no longer feeling pain...

But of course by some twisted mark of fate... it could be the complete opposite where you can have eternal pain from where or how you died...

Nevertheless... Death isn't something you should be afraid of... OR pursue in that matter...

I never really died in my dreams..... Well..... Like....I guess like the "moment of death" is the point of me waking up... But other than that It's no problem...

Death is the final hurderal and yet the first door....

death dreams come to me all the time, you learn to live if nothing else. Death is only as one sees it... that type of death might mean something else totally...

All I know is that I die in more than half of my dreams. As a matter of fact I die in my dreams 8 out of 10 times. It's really not fun and I lose a lot of sleep over it. A lot of times in my sleep I die in the begining and just see everything go by from my dead body. I dunno this thread just made me think about that at this moment.

I'm sorry chamchamtrigger, that's gotta be hard to deal with. Have you ever considered seeking some sort of help? Perhaps you have some sort of sleep distress issue?

I dunno. I come from a houshold that thinks any form of help is weakness (yeah they're stupid and crazy). It's really nothing to worry about. I do sleep eventually, so you guys don't have to worry about me kicking the bucket. It's something I've learned to live with also. Don't let it worry you guys.:smile-big

I never die in my dreams, but I have had dreams that provided insights into dilemmas that went right to core. Once the "message is delivered", I'm wide awake, just a little shaken, but with new understanding of the situation. The answers I've been given have helped in putting old griefs to rest. I too find the vehicle, passenger vs driver symbolism appearing every now and then, usually during those "whose in charge here" times.

I have had one of those life changing experiences regarding death in real-life and concur with your perception of peace. (I've addressed that particular question elsewhere on the Forum and won't repeat my answer here since it doesn't deal with specifically with dreaming.) I don't fear it anymore, but I'm also not in any hurry to experience it :P. Enjoying life right now and death, when it comes, is just part of the same cycle.

The dream simply means that something can affect your way of living/thinking easily. You mustn't be so weak and seek your own way of life.

Dying in your dreams can indicate an end of a phase of your life, just like pregnancy in dreams can signify the beginning of a new phase. I guess both signify the same.
I've had a few dreams in which I was dying. One, where I couldn't breathe in any oxygen, one where I was a soldier and was shot.. and a few more like those. When I woke up from those I was like 'whoa', but it's nothing to be worried about.
When I was 15, I had a dream about me being pregnant and somehow in the dream I knew I was 17 years old. And guess what, when I turned 17 I went to a new school, new environment, new everything. So, the dream was right. Don't know how THAT is possible, but that's another topic ^_^

Anyway, chamchamtrigger, have you been having those dreams for a long time now? cause 8 out of 10 dreams in which you are dying, is a lot. I just think that there is something drastically changing in your life.

Whenever I die in my dreams. I cannot feel how it is. The only images that run through my head are that as they lower my coffin into the ground and tears are shed by my loved ones. That made me cry when I woke up =/

Dying in dreams are almost nitemares. Cuz sometimes in dreams, I can imagine myself drawing a fountain with a razor on my wrist and letting my troubles flow away. That scared the crap outta my teacher and my principal once cuz they really thought that I would suicide.

It's annoying when people try to tell you what dreams mean. No one really knows, so it's kinda pointless and irritating to just act like people know what dreams represent. There's no way to find out if you're right or wrong..

Dying in dreams... thats happened to me a few times. That point where it happens is just unbelievable. The feeling when you wake up is undescribable... there's just a huge sense of relief really. Sometimes I wonder why the hell my brain would create such a thing for me to view...

Well as for me ive died a couple times in my dreams, I think everyone does eventually. As for why you die i really cant say one time it was like jurasic park or something, i fell off a bridge escaping :/ Seriosly i think death dreams kinda relate to an obsticle in life that people are trying to overcome and its showing you 1 scenario that could happen.

Once, I kept having sequel dreams. When my mum and dad were apart, and my mum with someone else, I had a recurring dream of being kidnapped one night, a few days after I'd dream of the same thing, but the next part, being with the kidnapper in an old factory. Another few days later, I dreamt of my mum and dad coming to get me with the police and I was rescued. Also I had a dream over and over again, of going up to the very back of my large garden, and there being a huge waterfall in a circle shape, and every time I would get sucked into the never ending pool of water in the middle. I had a dream last night too, that I was adventuring around with my mum and raven and Starfire from Teen Titans and a bunch of others, until I came to this place with sythes sticking out, parallel to the ground, and Starfire flew across one, but her arm got stabbed with the sythe and she had to pull it out with her arm. Then all the others sidestepped past the sythe until it was me, and I walked over the sythe, and I said "Done!" but my arm got stabbed and I had to pull it out. We had to get past a big dark gate, but then, this tall all in black guy that looked like Amarant came up and said "Money!" And my mum dropped her handbag and said "Money...? Oh, there" And the guy took the bag. He let us in, and there was someone in a bag hanging over a fire, with people sitting around them. We sat down, and decided to rescue the one in the bag. Raven use Metreon Synthos on the bag, and a small playmobile princess jumped out. Then there was a playmobile castle next to the 'campfire' and the princess jumped onto it, and a lil boy that looked like Ness from SSBM shouted "Mommy!" And then the princess ran around the castle with Ness chasing after her, until the princess blew up. Then some police came and explained that the princess had been sneaking into the castle spying on 'Ness,' but that she wasn't really his mom.....I've been wondering what this dream meant today...

How come my dreams are so weird? It seems I am not alone, here goes:

I am walking in a huge field, high grass blowing in the wind, rippling the grass so its similar to waves, I look up into the sun and it is blinding. So I have to close my eyes, but then when I open them I see the sun starting to go grey. The first time I thought wtf and I woke up, but a few days ago it carried on further. It is really scary what is about to happen, so for those who are not likely interested in say molestation dont read this

I see the sun turning grey, so I look around me to see if there is anywhere to hide, I notice that my hands graze the grass and the grass is just turning into dust, spreading like some puke and all the grass is dying. All the forest around me just starts to fall apart, sick as hell and I dont know how but there is some smell that makes me fall to my knees.

When I look up I am looking around at a desert, huge grey metallic like plants from halflife are poking people to death, they are naked and screaming that it is my fault. When I try to help them, they just die in my hands, the sky seems to be falling and there is some sort of creepy rain. As though an entire pool of something thick and dark falls down and everything drowns.

I dont know what it means, but it really scares me when I think about my pals that have died in the Iraq war and in Afghanistan. I think that maybe I am somehow responsible, because one of the dying people was identical to my friend, its not right. I cant make any sense out of it

thanks for reading though, hope I didnt ruin your sleep

As for the other dreams here, I dont know where to start. I think we all have some sort of issues we need to sort out, but these might be things that are subconcsious and hard to get at.

dreams are just methods to "understand(can't find the proper word)" the stuff we did that day.
I've got lots of dreams that return to me at certain dates in the year. And some standarts too,
Like being the only one that's still allive on the planet.
Being left behind by my mother and father (that dream stopped some time ago)
Getting chased and not being able to run.
Drowning in the swimming pool.
then some non-standard dreams that i don't want to type xD

They all have meaning, like wanting to feel unique, fear of ur parents leaving you, ...
They make book's n stuff about that shit so if u're interested, you can buy them xD

Almost all my dreams revolve around death, though I’m never the one that dies (though I have almost died in a couple). It’s almost always a family member who does and they’re usually shot by either a complete stranger or their best friend, and there is always a car around when it happens. During the rare times this situation does not exist I’m the one killing those I love or I just happen to be present when someone I don’t know dies. Also, I usually wake up crying after the dreams that involve a loved ones death, which leads me to believe the point of dreams is to teach us and to give an insight into ourselves, like my dreams may mean that a deep fear and pain of mine is either hurting or watching those I care for hurt by others, and that dreams involving the death of ourselves is just a realization we are not immortal and that we are going to die eventually.

i died in my dreams...well, it was actually a car accident and then I woke up in bed with my eyes open. I dreampt I had hit head on into a gas tanker. The dream was so real, that I thought it might have been more of a premonition...I always thought dreams of death meant the end of something in your life and the beginning of something else...like a rebirth.

I don't know if I had dreams where I died, I hardly remember at least half of my dreams, but I do know I've had the dreams that you wake up before you get killed, and ones where my whole family was dead. I have also had dreams where truly weird stuff happened, that would be impossible in the real world, but they happened in my dreams and I couldn't wake up. So I suppose it's better I haven't had those dreams.

I had an odd dream last night.

I was at Gamespot with my friend Hector, he worked there in the dream and I had just applied and got hired there. It was pretty simple, then after work everyone split up and we all went home. I went with Hector. We were driving down the highway and behind us some distance back, the sky was really dark and cloudy. It was fairly dark already and, I dont remember if I looked back or saw something move in the rear view mirror, but once I looked by I saw a huge black and white Thunderbird come down from the clouds. It was just flying in the same area back and forth, not gliding or anything, forcefully and actively moving. I freaked said to Hector "Dude, look at that fucking thing! Its huge!" He tried to look back but couldnt really see cause he was driving. Then his girlfriend called and she was asking where he was. He said he was with me and we were going to drop by my house. For some reason she didnt beleive him and I told him to pull over so we could see the bird. He did and he passed me the phone and told her to look outside and if she could see it. The bird was so big that it was at least 2 miles away originally and you could see its body wings movement and colors clearly. We got off the car and I wanted to go closer, by this time we were in a suburb type area with lots of nice trees and houses. Then I heard alot of weapon fire near by. I was looking up at the bird in the air from behind the end of a 6 ft. wooden fence. The bird was high up but horizontally only the distance of about a quarter block. The gunshots were near by as well and we could hear speaking as if from an intercom or megaphone. I said something, then a soldier came out from behind the fence facing away from me towards the bird. I freaked out and took off running to get closer, through an alley and to the right through another alley and lost my friend. I came out of the alley only to see soldiers and a tank, and George Bush sticking out of the top of the tank with the megaphone in the middle of the street in front of a 2 story house telling people not to worry and that the bird was in danger of gravity. Probably because I think he is an idiot and would probably come up with such a stupid excuse. They shot down the bird and I took off running the other way. There was a tunnel next to a house that led to a downstairs public bathroom and I ran in there cause the bird was still alive and moving around violently. Also because the bird seemed to be coming my direction. Somehow the bird followed me down into the bathroom and stopped in front of me, lying down, dying. It was a really wierd experience.

Some of that sounded dumb like the Bush part, but in the dream it was just kind of angering and disturbing.

There are a bunch of B.S. things going around about dreams, mostly by people who suck at dreaming. You CAN feel pain in dreams (there was a time period where me getting kicked in the nuts by girls was a regular occurrence) and the whole thing about dying in dreams = dying in real life is retarded because if it ever actually happened, how would we know?

And then there's the whole black and white versus color thing which is its own bag of worms. Personally, my dreams are only distinguishable from my real life in the sense that I jump from consciousness to consciousness and time gets bent a lot.

To sum it up, it is possible that dreams are "sorting out mental junk". But there are bigger meanings to dreams and sometimes they are prophetic. My sister had a dream about Hurricane Katrina about two weeks before it happened (what's more, a pyramid with an eye on top said it was going to happen); I dreamt of the Indonesia tsunami the night it actually happened. They're not predictable though and they're not always right. So interpret your own dreams if you want, but remember that sometimes dreams are just dreams.

Man I have some wierd scary dreams, that never really end up happy...

Like for a mild one, When I was 8-10 (I dont remember much from 8 - 16) I dreamt that I was walking out of my school, I turn around and the school is on fire, and all the kids are burning and screaming, I couldnt move I was so scared. I then realised that my brother was in there, I turned into a tiger (I dont know I liked them alot at that time) I get in and I mange to find and rescue my little brother, but he is badly hurt like about to die, So I dont know, at that time the police show up and they start yelling at me when I am about to leave, blaming me for the first, they try and shoot me, but hit my brother.(I thought it killed him) I start running home you know scared and completely mentally screwed up, I just cant think at all, all I know is get home to mom, so I rush there, I get there, put my brother down on the patio check to see he was still ok, I quickly like hit the door hard because well, I am a tiger at this point, and my Mother and Father answer the door, I was so relieved......then I see a gun(s) in my parents hand(s)(or one of them) and everything slows down, I try to explain as much as possible, but its not working...I start crying, then all I see is the flash with a bang from the gun *BANG* * BANG*.....*BANG*, I fall over on my side as I transform back where they see I was crying, and all I know is that I said I am sorry...then woke up....wow did I ever feel alone.

Then there are some pretty fucked up ones like I was in the game world of "silent hill" You know when it turns to the evil side, well like that, but I was fine with it, it wasnt scary, I was at peace, complete and utter peace. Then it would turn to normal and I got scared, like I normally am in real life (if you read the one thread I made in the debate section you would understand why but thats irrelavent) and the sacary part was that I was fine in this totally screwed up world, with like these errie sounds and everything...but this one I actually understand.

Then there are some I just dont want to express so yeah..

Yea there was only one time that I died in my dream. In my dream I was fighting some other guy who eventually defeated me and slowly chopped off my head. I do have a lot of dreams where im suppose to be dead, like people shooting me like 20 times and im still alive, but like the pain feels so real. I always have dreams where im falling off cliffs or any high places too, well now i can sort of control my dreams by lucid dreaming, but it doesn't always work.

Dreams are a mystery, I mean dreams can't tell you your omen or anything it's just our brain trying to make sense of things while we sleep. Like if you dream about running then your brain (when your asleep) is operating in that area of the brain that works with running.

HOLY SHIT THAT IS AWSOME!!! i wanna die in my dreams too! I never die in my dreams, when I was a kid I just did something crazy to not die or woke up.
What you experienced by the way was something really cool, did you see, feel anything? where you in a infinitly large space with infinite time?
Once I thought about how it would feel if you died, I went to darkness and was like you said without suffering but I couldn't be like that, only for a few moments then I noticed me looking at darkness and then feeling myself again.

I have never survived once in my dreams, I can't it's impossible. It used to be fine, until I was about 8 and I dreamed that me and my best friend were outside playing and he broke his arm, and a car was coming, so I picked up my skate board and skated up to him really fast and threw him out of the way, right then I got hit and died, I didn't feel anything just woke up for a second then went back to sleep.

Has anyone ever died in their dreams? Is it true that if you die in your dreams it will cause you to die in reality too because you think you are dead?

I believe it is possible, and now I will tell you why:

I myelf have never "died" in my dreams, but a couple times I've come close. When I was in the seventh grade (this part happened in real life-- I used to walk to school in the second and third grade, but then I had to go to another town for forth grade and beyond), I was getting off the school bus one morning, when someone bumped into me from behind. I guess I'll never know if it was intentional or not, but because this asshole Alex Harris, who was in the eighth grade, had been harrassing me in shop-class, some kind of middle-school "senior" power-trip, in this case over power tools. But because I was on edge and only half awake, I slammed my backback back... and nailed some fourth-grader right upside the head. It sucked. The poor kid followed me all the way to the building, apparently more humiliated than harmed, demanding to know why I didn't finish beating him up now that I made him look like a fool on the bus. It was sad. He was in tears. And I just couldn't believe I did that to him.

As bas as that was, the problem was that I was at odds with this jerk Alex all the time. One day, I went in from recess to take a piss, when two eighth-graders fell in behind me in the foyer. There were two more covering the doors ahead. And there was Alex himself, and this big guy, I think his name was Sean, and they wanted to fight me. I ended up staring them down for about four or five minutes before I was finally saved by the bell. (It wasn't that I was afraid to fight him, it was that I didn't want to be the one to start it, and I had no guarantee those other guys weren't going to kick the shit out of me if Alex started losing.) You can see how much trouble this Alex guy was making for me at that point in my life.

Well, one one night I had this dream that I was walking around in this school/industrial area...

...It is really weird. And Alex is there, chasing me with a gun, a big-ass revovler. (The weird part is that I remember the chase, but I don't remember him shooting at me while I was running.)

Finally, I come into this office, and run into the school custodian, the big-bearded Mr Sharbono, and I tell him that Alex has a gun. And good ol Mr Sharbono reaches into his desk drawer-- the little thin one where teachers keep their pens-- pulls out a big-ass shotgun.

But right as he is pulling it out of the drawer, Alex barges in and shoots me. The last thing I remember seeing is a camera-like view of myself being thrown over the desk...

...I woke up with a huge, stifling pain in my chest. At first I thought I really HAD been shot, that's how real it felt to me. This experience has led me to believe that you're only as dead as you believe you are. People do die in their sleep, and I believe at least some of them died in their dreams. Though I do think it would have to be a very believable dream to do it.
