Not that you really care, but this is my first post here.
I posted this on BA.org,but I often lurk on here and see well thought out responses,so here goes:
I can't believe I actually overlooked this the first few times I read it.

My initial thought on this was just as Aizen said,"dividing the numbers of the enemy."
But then,I remembered that it was Gin that gave this order.
Notice that Kira says that "I'm here to keep you here" and not "you both" here. This would also explain why he stopped as soon as Rangiku and Hitsugaya split ways.
In the next chapter,Aizen responds to this by saying:

Gin calls it a mistake or "overestimation",but I don't think that's true at all and he was simply bullshitting Aizen.
Instead of just dividing their forces,I believe that Gin wanted to protect Rangiku from getting seriously hurt by making sure that she wasn't at the Central 46 chambers and end up getting nearly killed like Hitsugaya was.
If she was there with Hitsugaya,I'm sure Aizen would've either gave the order to kill them both or simply did it himself.
If what I'm saying is true, does that mean that Gin isn't as heartless as we originally thought he was?
Maybe it was just me that didn't notice this or I may be completely wrong, but meh, please discuss...
