Naruto Forums Top 50 Games of all time

Ok, after the IGN an EGM top 100 fiasco, I've decided to take it upon myself to create this thread, and let the Naruto Forums top 50, I would say 100, but that might get out of control.

So go ahead and list your own top 50, top 25, top 100, or even top 1000 if you want... I don't care! After the results are in.. I'll make someone else tally the votes and we will create a new top 50 games list of all time!!

I have an idea, ask everyone 25 games that should be in the pole of 60, than collect 60 different games and have a voting like placing them in order and see what game gets the most votes in there sction like who ever gets the most posts for second gets second, its obvious I suppose.

Nice, I'm bored enough...

Just so you all know, I'm going on mainly the IMPACT each game had on its respetive genre, as well as how long it's stood the test of time. I guess I'll also go by how much I enjoyed it. Also, there may be some games that I never played that won't be on this list. So here goes (I don't own an XBOX, and have only played Halo and Fable for it, and ONLY ONE PC game will be on my list, sorry, just never play PC games)...

1. Tetris (Has stood the test of time better than ANY game ever)
2. Mario 64 (REVOLUTIONIZED the 3-D platforming we all know and love today)
3. Doom (I could say Wolfenstein, but the FPS wasn't HUGE until this one)
4. Street Fighter II (There are fighting games TODAY that aren't as well-made as this one)
5. Chrono Trigger (This could just be because I'm biased, but I see it like this - While many RPG's came before it, CT was the first that PERFECTED it IMO)
6. Zelda: Ocarina (Just a MASTERPIECE, there's really nothing else I can say about it)
7. GoldenEye 007 (Probably a shocker to most of you, but let's face it, it brought back the FPS)
8. PAC-MAN (Had to put this in here. People, including myself, STILL play it, AND LOVE IT, today)
9. Final Fantasy VI (Had to put the greatest of the FF's in this list)
10. Metal Gear Solid (Quite possibly the best PSone game ever made IMO)

I'm gonna try and think up a top 50 for me soon, but I'm gonna take a different approach to it, feel free to use it.

I'm going to factor in several points and then decide were it will go based on total score, seems like a good way to go, since I can't decide between two games without nostalgia breaking in and clouding my judgement.

Fun factor (combination of playability, control, and overall enjoyment) - 30 points
Revolutionary factor - 20 points
longevity factor - 15 points
Story factor - 15 points (a game can be awesome with little to no story think tetris)
Musical factor - 15 points
Graphical factor (not a deciding factor for me when playing games, but it must count for something, or people will kill themselves in fury) - 5 points

All for a total of 100 points. If there is a tie, well, Nostalgia Factor will account for 1 point... HAHAHAH!!

4. Super Mario Bros. Can anybody honestly say they haven't invested any amount of time into the old-school classic? It's a great game, and it's what made Nintendo a household name.
3. Chrono Trigger. In my opinion, the second greatest RPG of all time. It put a new spin on the battle system, had an awesome story, cool characters, I've always loved playing this game.
2. Final Fantasy VI. This game was amazing. It had great gameplay, graphics, a gripping story, likeable characters...and chocobos!

finally...my number one game of all time...
1. Tetris. I have played this game since it released, and it's still every bit as much fun and addictive as it was back then.

Street Fighter III:3rd Strike
Made back in 1999, and is still the best and well made 2D fighting game ever. Awesome and smooth graphics, balance gameplay, good roster of characters, uniqueness, and has a very deep gameplay where the amount of knowledge is endless. The moves have quick responses, solid gameplay with lots of tricks and mixups to use, and the music is also very nice. It's been 6 years after it's release and it's still adored and played competetively throughout the world.

Breath of Fire III
The best of the of series. Best graphics I've ever seen in my life, awesome gameplay, story, gamelength, and sidequests. There could be no other RPG game better than BoF3, in my opinion. The music was good, characters were cool, map freedom, great battle system, dungeon and how the story bends together was great.

Final Fantasy Tactics
Great graphics, very deep story, and endless amount of gameplay. It had a bountiful amoutn of jobs that your character can become, and the combo of skills from each class is great. It also used the battlefield like how an SRPG game should. FFT will always be a classic amongst a huge amount of the old school players. Always imitated never duplicated.

Ok well, I went with my previously posted formula on ranking, let me say it didn't turn out as expected, and since a lot of stuff was coming out even, I upped a hidden factor of Nostalgia to 10 just to keep things relatively seperate.

Anyway, feel free to question why it came out the way it did... wouldn't really be a personal liking.. maybe the formula is flawed..... suggestions?

Even though I numbered them...I have many second thoughts on the list, so you can take these out of order, but Super Mario Bros , Super Mario 3, and Tetris are my top games because Mario Bros introduced the world to real platform video games(or at least to me) without going to the arcade to play Donkey Kong. I have an Atari 2600 and Pong really introduced everyone to console games, but pong didn't have a story, was only entertaining for so long, and nothing was better than kicking King Koopa's butt and saving the princess(except when you found out that the princess was in another castle). Super Mario 3 was the best of teh series and has unlimited replay ability. Tetris...well..it's tetris...who doesn't get addicted to falling blocks and the music. You'll play it until you start seeing falling blocks in your dreams.

Time to take another stab at this, anyone who has already created a list can either submit a new one, keep their old one, or modify their current list.

Here's my old formula that I used for game ratings, subject to change:

Fun factor (combination of playability, control, and overall enjoyment) - 30 points
Revolutionary factor - 20 points
longevity factor - 15 points
Story factor - 15 points (a game can be awesome with little to no story think tetris)
Musical factor - 15 points
Graphical factor (not a deciding factor for me when playing games, but it must count for something, or people will kill themselves in fury) - 5 points
Nostalgia (that little special something that makes a game special to you) - 10 points

-Resident Evil (brought forth the beginning of a whole new generation of survival horror gaming, every horror series you see today is thanks to RE, the genre would be nothing without it.)

Just so you all know, I'm going on mainly the IMPACT each game had on its respetive genre, as well as how long it's stood the test of time. I guess I'll also go by how much I enjoyed it. Also, there may be some games that I never played that won't be on this list. So here goes (I don't own an XBOX, and have only played Halo and Fable for it, and ONLY ONE PC game will be on my list, sorry, just never play PC games)...

1. Tetris (Has stood the test of time better than ANY game ever)
2. Mario 64 (REVOLUTIONIZED the 3-D platforming we all know and love today)
3. Doom (I could say Wolfenstein, but the FPS wasn't HUGE until this one)
4. Street Fighter II (There are fighting games TODAY that aren't as well-made as this one)
5. Chrono Trigger (This could just be because I'm biased, but I see it like this - While many RPG's came before it, CT was the first that PERFECTED it IMO)
6. Zelda: Ocarina (Just a MASTERPIECE, there's really nothing else I can say about it)
7. GoldenEye 007 (Probably a shocker to most of you, but let's face it, it brought back the FPS)
8. PAC-MAN (Had to put this in here. People, including myself, STILL play it, AND LOVE IT, today)
9. Final Fantasy VI (Had to put the greatest of the FF's in this list)
10. Metal Gear Solid (Quite possibly the best PSone game ever made IMO)

Those are almost all the games I was thinking of. I would rate Chrono Trigger higher though and put Street Fighter III 3rd Strike in the list instead of SF II. KOF 98 also deserves to be on the list. Best KOF ever IMO.
Daytona USA I/II is my favorite racing game. I don't really play racing games cause they bore me really fast. Daytona is awesome though. I love playing it in the arcades.
