Guitar Hero World Tour Halp!

I must seem like a ditz. I only really come into this part of the forum to squeal for help when my games go wrong. Today it is Guitar Hero, which I just bought. My fiance and I want to play in a band together, but every time he tries to join the band, it instead tells him to create his own. What's up with that? I thought you were supposed to be able to be in a band with people. What are we doing wrong?

i think you have to make sure all the stuff you want is connected then play quickplay as a band? idk ive only played rockband once... soooo ahaha rockband....
