Doom 2.
Counter-Strike was fun as well, but the only times I would play it was when I had a lot of free time on my hands or else I'd forget to do my homework.

half life of course.. goldeneye .. and half life 2 got release date :D nov 16 hope stays like that..curse the one who tries to steal it again..
Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny for me. :D
Then I did a bit with Final Doom.
Wasn't until Return to Castle Wolfenstein that I started first-person shooters again.
Then went to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.
Currently playing Call of Duty: United Offensive.

Quake + Team Fortress >
Quake 2 + Action Quake 2 >
Delta Force 2 >
Rainbow Six >
Rogue Spear >
Half-Life + Counter-Strike + Action Half-Life + The Opera + Desert Crisis (and 4 other mods).
My HL/CS days ended this year, after VALVe got a hold of the game I just couldn't take the game anymore and finally left. They turned CS into a crappy Rainbow Six.
EDIT: N@Sc can you tell me where you got the image of the character in your sig? I know someone who uses the same image of that girl for a sig but I haven't found it... Also is she an anime character and whatnot? Never seen her on any anime... But I like the image :P

half life and doom of course. but doom 3 doesnt seem so good at all. hope hl2 will be better. i still play cs 1,6 and of course, cs source
Half life is goin to PWN doom3 pretty hard: why u ask, well doom3 has fucked up graphics to dark pointy screwed shadows, its all the same (walk through hallways and killing monsters.....)
hl2 doesnt have his own MP but it has cs source and source is better than doom3 MP hl singleplayer is the best the missions just rule!!!!!:D

you wanna go old skoo!? How about Doom 1+2 or original DUKE NUKEM!
original DUKE NUKEM!
ahaha, the 8-bit one right?
i remember that, that required skills to play that game. game was actually pretty hard, though i cant remember most of the stages now since it was so long ago. all i remember was shooting aliens and saving people ahaha
Perfect Dark was the best. Always will be.
Ahem. And only if Nintendo hadn't sold Rare, we might have had a Perfect Dark for the DS! :(

Half-Life Series was the greatest and that was the only FPS game that accually became a drug to me and still is ... in someways funny thing is they made a Capture The Flag or something for HL2 so that looks pretty nifty

Golden Eye (Till N64's end), Doom (When the Internet excisted - I stopped, I used to play back in BBS Days). Quake, Quake 2 (Mainly cause of Action Quake 2), Half-Life (Team Fortress Classic in the beginning, Counter-Strike & Action Half-Life all the way through...)
I stopped playing HL/CS/AHL about a year ago since I lost my internet connection. I'd go back but just cause I still have something to prove... I dont really like CS like I used to... Beta 1-6... VALVe just changed the true nature of the game to fit their own interest... They killed the mod and made it something it was not supposed to be... A First Person Shooter, with realism elements... Another Rainbow Six, with faster running (And the ability to jump), thats all they did...
-------
i persoannly like CS best, but half life was the game that revolutionised the FPS genre
Thats funny.
Half-Life Revolutionized FPS Genre? The only reason why Half-Life was better known was for its mods. Its mods were better than the game itself. In the beginning, the only thing that made Half-Life a better First Person Shooter than Quake 3 - Was its Netcode... VALVe ruined it when they decided to actually change the Netcode (They did this at the same time they bought CS from the original development team).
Now HL is a game where only Cable/DSL users can play... Before Half-Life was a game where anyone could play... Its old Netcode allowed smooth gameplay for people with crappy computers (Like the one I used to play in).
My old Comp Specs:
Win 98
2GB Harddrive
64 MB SDRAM
Pentium 2- 366mhz
ATI RAGE IIc (64mb Video Card - Software Mode Only)
I was playing Half-Life on a 640x480 resolution on Software mode only. You know how much my latency averaged on a 14-20 player server? 175-250ms ping. Now I have a comp thats 300x better than my old one and it proves just as useless as my old one with the new changes made to Half-Life.

Big time fan of quake2 and quake3. I preferred team DM, 1 vs. 1, or FFA. Wasn't a big fan of CTF. Absolutely loved the railgun.

Unreal and Deus Ex! Doom was never that good to me and I haven't played much Half Life because it requires a lot more processing power than the other two I named.

The only FPS I was even good at was Goldeneye: Agent Under Fire (I think that was it)
I only played multiplayer, and the only reason I was even good was because I was always accurate with guided Senitals.

Its not exactly very "old sk00l", but my favorite FPS was Quake 3: Team Arena. Doing solo flag runs with the scout upgrade was always good for an adrenaline rush.

My favorites, and subsequently the best FPS games ever created:
Quake 1
Duke Nukem
Shadow Warrior
Half-Life
Quake 2
Well first what I want to say is back in the day the only FPS I liked was Perfect Dark (Best FPS Ever) and Golden Eye (Second Best FPS Ever) (also Duke Nukem interested me for a while to). When I grew up I stopped liking FPS's, they just don't interest me anymore like the two above did. Guess people mature ya know?

I agree with these. Duke Nukem was fun playing when I was 7, it scared the crap out of me but fighting in a strip club with aliens was awesome.

I still have a soft spot for Wolfenstein 3d.
The origional Quake and Descent 1 and 2. I played all three of those back when they first came out. I was probably less then 10 back then.... (I'm 20 now...) Good times.
I still remember how if you pressed ~ on the shareware version of quake you would get the full version.
