Most sites have it as 26 episodes, but people are saying they're only placeholders.

Yeah, it'll probably get extended. Takamura's fight will probably last up to episode 26. The shows called hajime no IPPO, he needs a defining fight, i don't think ippo vs hammer nao does it justice

HnI (The manga) is currently over 850 issues, of which HnI (the Anime) is currently at 360ish (too lazy to look it up). I am not going to ruin anything for non-manga readers, but there a few AMAZING fights following Hawk v Takamura, and I really don't see any way they can compress everything into 26 eps...Plus, if the first season was 76 (+ Movie and OVA), I don't see why HnI:NC should be any shorter, especially with the lead time between Anime and Manga...

I don't think that it'll last only 26 episodes.. more similarily like the first series.

I'm thinking there'll be at least two seasons of 26 eps. And considering they brought in a new character, to do him any justice they'll need to make it 3.

I believe someone posted that it was confirmed for 90 episodes. I hope that's true. :(

It all depends where they plan to stop.

If the series is going to stop following the manga and go off on a "pause" like with the end of the last series, they need a good point to do that at. To be honest it's hard to think of many that would be very fitting. Maybe some recent fights would be okay for that but to get as far as them they'd need like well over 100 episodes all at 4 chapter per episode pacing.

I don't think they actually have it planned for sure yet, perhaps how long they plan to go all depends on the success of the first season.
