Episode had me nearly tearing up :(

I loved it though. I also can't blame Tomoya for yelling at that kid on the train. He was annoying me too. Glad to see Ushio and Tomoya's relationship improve and the music fit well when they were crying in the field and back on the train. However, the ending theme keeps pissing me off...

I really hate those kinds of kids on the train, heck there were some on the train this morning. I was resisting the urge to tell them to STFU.

As for the episode, my my, such a wonderful episode, Tomoya finally bonds with Ushio. He also comes to term with his own father now he realises what it was like for his dad. Best bit had to be when Ushio cries in his arms. Such a touching moment.:cry

These music box melodies are real killers. They always play them during the moments when I burst into tears. One of these days, I'm going to hear a music box and just start spontaneously bawling.

Best episode of After Story, better than anything in the original series.

Beautiful. I had to get the raw first since I wanted to see more interaction between the two of them but I didn't need subs to know that this was a great episode. 19:06 and on... Wonderful. I have a new highlight for this series.

The preview from 17 made that train scene seem so... relevant but it was kind of just brushed off in the actual episode. I'm glad Ushio didn't give hate towards that.

I'll be honest, I don't think the ending ruined this episode as bad as others. This one ended on a pretty good note. I'll tell you what ruined the episode for me, right at the end when Tomoya held Ushio's hand with Nagisa looking at them. It wasn't the scene that ruined it, it was Tomoya wearing his work clothes... What the?

Okay, so i finally managed to download and watch the episode. It was good. Ushio and Tomoya developement, Okazaki-obaachan, reunion. And Akio-sama next episode. Dam, Ushio looks exactly like a little Nagisa. This time ED didn't ruin the mood, since the episode ended in tears, but happily. However i doubt this happiness will last long.

If you didn't watched yed. Watch Kanon(2006) by KyoAni too. At the moment it's the best drama. Well, when After Story finish it will be the best drama. But still Kanon(2006) was an awesome drama like a After Story. ;)

At the moment I still think Kanon beats this. There were way too many "No way!" moments and suspenseful episodes. Although most of those moments were in the Mai arc. I guess it isn't fair to judge yet since After Story isn't finished, this is the high point of the series after all but in no way is season one of Clannad better than Kanon for me.

I think Clannad in general isn't a shocker kind of series, maybe that's why I don't like it as much. Some episodes are incredibly well done but a majority are boring and don't leave a sense of satisfaction upon completion. Not to mention the bad comedy. They tried too hard to be funny at times but fail at it. They did things right with After Story though, a huge improvement.

Makoto arc = Fuuko arc, both were terrible and almost made me drop both. A terrible and long start for an Anime. They at least share that in common.

Don't watch Air. It's definitely the worst anime of KyoAni. Plot kinda stupid. Not funny at all. Not dramatic at all. Only good thing I can say about Air is soundtracks and animation/artwork.

It is so easy make situations like this melodramatic rather than dramatic, hokey instead of heartwarming, forcing the viewer to feel rather than spontaneously evoking emotion. But, this episode managed to avoid all of those pitfalls without misstep. I was no more struck by this at any other time than I was during the scene of Tomoya's yelling at the boy on the train and Ushio's reaction.

It was awkward and unexpected. Ushio was obviously both embarrassed by the whole situation and upset due to hearing her father sound so angry for, presumably, the first time. And, to compound her desire to cry along with what she'd always been told by Sanae, her father had just roared at a child for unnecessary fussing.

In other words, it was complex and real. But, not in the complacent, monotonous tone that the earlier portions of the series took on for me. Somehow, someway, it managed to be both extremely honest and dynamic, all at the same time.

But, more than anything else, I was completely taken in by the storytelling as compared to anything that the series (original and sequel) has put out so far. From the initial setting up of Ushio's "place she's allowed to cry" to finding out a second place existed in her papa's arms, from the constant robot imagery throughout the series to Ushio's first toy bought for her by Tomoya (meaning behind it and its loss included), it all added together to make one gorgeous relation of a tale.

I enjoyed this episode. It was sweet. Ushio is just adorable. When do the episodes usually come out?

I guess I'm not a hardcore drama fan but I do like a good tearjerker. I'm also guessing that I'm the only one that enjoyed Clanned, a lot. I thought it was really funny. The drama in the first season wasn't all that great but...Sunohara made up for it easily, at least for me.

The 2nd season seems to be the season that is going to go deep into the drama...maybe. ?I really can't waith for the other charactes to come into play. I also wonder if Tomoya will move on to a new love.
