Diablo 2. love it? hate it? and do u still play it?

So who here loves diablo 2? I can tell u i sure hell do.. I remeber back in 10th grade or maybe 9th i got the game and for like 2 to 3 years i never left it. The game is that addicting ladies and gentelmen.. Was my first online game ever but still this hack and slash from blizzard rocked my world and still does!

I do admit i do not play it as much as i used to.. during the first 2 years of playing it i put over 2500 hours ( no im not kidding u) i was wired on mountain dew back in the day drinking at least 24 to 32 cans a day! i seriously had a caffine problem and had to stop after a while i acculy cut it down to 12 then after the docter visits :(

I play on the East Server i have soo many accounts and all and i think my main one expired allready ( college took up alot of time) so i plan to start up sooner or later starting from scratch again on a ladder character ( ladder chars are from the 1.10 patch) from the whole time i played this game i had at least 10 99's, 20 to 25 lvl 80's and about 30 lvl 75's total .. My best class was proably the sorceror and assasin with a close second sometimes first.

I'ved play D2 but only LOD. I bought the expansion when I was like..16? and borrowed my friend's D2, after that was the addiction. It came like this, wake up, D2, sleep and on school day's, well just add school after wake up. I totally can't remember what I had but I believe I had a lvl 96 Elemental Druid and other characters lvl 80+.

Finally, I got addicted to CounterStrike and D2 went away. I always feel like playing it again but installing it again takes too long =P. Overall, this game is addicting and awesome, if you people haven't played it, well play it.

I've already stated my undying love for Diablo II, and Starcraft... but now that we have a special thread for it...

I bought D2 the first day it came out. I played it almost non-stop up to LOD which I also bought the day it came out. I played that non-stop up to about a year ago. I'm pretty much burnt out on it now, but man this game was awesome.

I never got to lvl 99 though, never had the motivation. I usually just created more and more character builds and such. My highest ever was a lvl 87 Javazon I think...

well if u do it the right way everyone can do it, just lvl op to 20 then cow to 25 then baal runs to 40 then rush in nightmare, then baal runs to 75 or more, then rush in hell then baal runs to 99 :D thats the fastest way hahahaha

I liked D2 before it was nothing but cow and baal runs... the old school Act4 days were fun, the Barbarian + Lance was good while it lasted.... D2 classic was probably marginally better than LOD... but I think I played LOD more.

Even though classic D2 was wildly unbalanced, it made getting uber characters that much easer... Hammerdin, Ice Orb Sorc, Lance Barb, Javazon, Strafezon, Bowzon, they were all great... Necromancer has never been too wildly powerful, but he is still good with CE now.... I'll probably never play D2 very hardcore anymore, but... I might pick it back up.

And yes, they need to make D3 SOON. I don't like WC3, I don't like WoW, I'm not looking foward to SC Ghost that much...

Either D3 or SC 2 would work I suppose... but D3 has a better chance of not sucking.

D2 will forever be one of my favourite games. I still like to play it form time to time, but only on Singleplayer. I played on the B-net for a few months, but the the B-net has been overwhelmed by Idiots, Brats and Cheater. It seems that everyone has Dupe Items or a Map-Hack. And because of all these cheater and idiots the game is almost unplayable on the B-net. Oh, and let's not forget the Baalrun-Bots...

well since 1.10 came out its acculy alot better to play on ladder chars.. Dupes are not as common as they where before and the maphack is not that big of a deal.

o and the method of rushing change... basically Cow runs suck anymore since 1.10 sad i miss hear moo's allthe time .. then again i had nightmares about those danm cows i killed so many!

well the 1.10 patch is easy as i said just lvl normal to 20 then cow in normal to 25 then baal runs to 40 then rush in nightmae then baal runs to 70 then rush hell then baal runs to 99 its the fastest way, the 1.09 sux coz the chars are unbalanced and u could just entered a cow game and stand there to reach like 50 lvls in 10 mins, and about the necromancer just do a BONEnecro and u rock both in dmg and def or just summoning with curses ahahah but if u want a high dmg just do a trapperassa. with that lightning sentrey or the last one hehehe or just do a Blizzsorc ahahah they rock, hammerdin also rock with the right EQ. or a IKbarb THEY absoulutly rock!!!

I use to play D2 like crazy back in the days. I had like a PK Barb, Zon, and Sorc, and a MF Sorc all at level 90+. Had all of the best gear for all of them with a bunch of +100 and higher Small/Large Poison Charms, and a galore of SOJs. I started to hate it when Ith Blades and White Rings were created. Then I finally quit when the Great Dupression hit.

LOL well i actually bought the game last week, and started playing it. the game as mentioned is quite addictive, and since i'm new i have no idea on the game language LOL... all i can say it is quite fun for now and hope to power up my character. so far now i have a lvl 18 necromance, since they rule in my book LOL and is like having your own little army with you.

i haven't played online yet since well.. i'm a noob..but when i get more experience with the game i will give it a try.

now that i have played this. is W3 the same as this? or there's something different on that game??

also one thing that bothers me is that the game has a fixed resolution 800x600 i think, is there someway to change that??? since i'm playing in a small box on the monitor since the monitor has 1024x768 and i have to strech(sp) the monitor each time i play and is quite bothersome :D any help would be appreciated.

OMG! love this game. I played this when it first came out until LOD. I don't play it anymore coz i lost my disc. Fave character is the Bowazon build. I also find Trapassins fun. I kinda lost interest when all the hacks and hacked items started appearing, just took the fun away from the game for me

I don't know how it was before 1.10 so I don't know if it's any better now, but what you say about Dupe items is not true for sure. When you play on Hell there are only games like "N Soj O Hack", "N Enigma O 123.454 Ist", "O Hoto N 234 Zod" or "N tha UBER item O tha UBER Rune". And it really seems that every Pala has at least an Enigma and a Hoto and that's not possible without cheating. And if you are playing without all these super strong items, all those Brats laugh about you, because you use no cheats and write something like "U r teh No_O;b". It's not fun at all to play this game on the B-net.

Yeah, but when you get an item like SoJ, Enigma or Hoto via trade, you can be 99% sure u just got a dupe item, or that at least some of the Runes, that were used to create the items, are dupes. And even with Mfing, etc it's not possible that almost EVERYONE has such high level items and runes. I mean, come on, it's really rare, even with high MF, to find Runes like Jah and Ber for an Enigma or Vex for a Hoto.

EDIT: I just went to www.battle.net and there is a 1.11 patch for Diablo2: LOD out there now! I think it's time to kick Diablos ass once again. :narutokyu

Even if you don't want to believe it: there ARE a LOT of Dupe items, people who dupe, people who use map hacks and people who use baalrun bots on the B-net. I have met people who have like 4 maras, 3 enigmas and 5 CoH for trade, people who use map hacks, people who laugh about you when you say you don't use cheats and, of course, baalrun bots. That's just the way D2 is played on the B-net and that's why I don't like to play it on the B-net anymore.

I made HOTO out of my own found 100% legit runes and scepter, it was difficult and took me quite a while to do, but it is possible.

In my entire Diablo 2 career, I've only actually found 1 soj, and that was off a random monster in Act 4. It was quite the find.

As far as MF goes, I've found a whole lot of stuff, Shako, WizardSpikes, String of Ears, Spider sash whatever it was called, and other godly things, but nothing good on the rune side besides the HOTO runes.

The items that always eluded me, even after all those many years:

Windforce
Grandfather
Zod Rune
Couple other godly uniques and sets, I got all but IK armor though...

Yeah that might be fun, and I would be up for it, but I'd really only be able to play during the weekends, and only then when Makai Kingdom is taking up all of my time. The 1.11 patch might be enough incentive to make me play it enough, with a Narutofan Clan anyway... could be fun.

I had 2 accounts full of lvl 60+ characters. I liked the Paladins best of all, they were just cool, although at the time I think that orb sorcs were the way to go for maximum power.

well these days if you want good stuff you can kill pindleskin over and over again, you´ll find good stuff eventully hahaha thst they way i did it hahah :D i had all the stuff i needed on all my chars, but then again, you need ALOT of MF to get good stuff, 500+ i think, and to do that you should have a sorc for MF and the EQ: Shako a.ka Harlequin Crest
(50%), Skullders (+1.25 Per Character Level) 1-123 % Better Chance Of Getting Magic Items (Based On Character Level)

Hmm, I had 3 diablo accounts :) they were all full with characters that had godly items ^^ everyone had atleast 2 runewords that were worth over 5 hr's each :P
and then 10 skillers with 30+ hp, 7 of those little charms that give res, stats and 1 to all skills and more :P I started playing a little over a year ago, and quit after playing for about 8-10 months, and I never hacked :)

I tried getting back into Diablo 2... The terrible resolution and grainy graphics really got to me. *expects all of the "IT'S NOT ABOUT GRAPHICS" fanatics to start spamming the rep...* I finally settled into Guild Wars... At first, I thought it would be similar to an mmorpg, but then I found that I'm definitely getting a Diablo II vibe from the game. Very similar style of gameplay.

I used to play that game but honestly when I think back I hated that game. It was fun with all the hex's and wrings but after the patch a lot of people didn't feel like playing I wasted a lot of time on that game and I believe it to be very stupid. You do the same thing over and over again, and eventually you'll get hacked. Every account I had gotten hacked I don't know if it was just me but yeah, it made it obvious that Blizzard didn't have a very good security system.

uhm...well diablo has that to, you can play threw it the acts + all the quests, but you can also rush, so your point of veiw doesn´t really fit up with the game, have u really layed diablo at all, you can name you items, and in act 1 the blacksmith even crafta normal weapon into magic weapon so i really dont understand your arument, there is many stuff in diablo, yeah know you do it in a stright line, but thats coz its build up like that, and other MMORPG is build up with a bigger more free world, but still its the same man

heh, played regular D2 for over a year, and LoD for over a year. Comparing D2's "quest" system to any modern MMORPG quest system is a joke. There are 6 "quests" that are the exact same for normal, nightmare and hell...six quests. Imbueing (sp?) at item or adding 1 socket to it vs comparing it to a crafting system in a modern MMORPG is insane...you do a 10 minute "quest" vs having the ability to craft hundreds of useful items that can gain you large amounts of profit, more than that the process of getting access to all those items could take large amounts of time (FFXI crafting *shudders*).

Very addictive game, but take it for what it is, mindless killing. Mindless killing is a good thing

Umm i craft alot of itesm in d2 that are some of the best weapons / other stuff in the game.

i am not trying to compare to an MMORPG i am just saying that this game is soo fast pace that u really do not care. their are 6 quest's per act thats 5 actss so 30 quest's.

now in the new patch u can fight all three PRIME EVILS at once! thats insane! and alot of other stuff as well.

Khemical: have you made all the rune words??? i didn´t mean that its as new and modern as for exampel WoW but i meant it has those things 2 not as much but still they are in the game. and as someone said there are 30 quests so there are things to do, and its not meant as a MMORPG just a RPG/Action so just compare it to one is already a mistake.

It's not a bad game, although I never seemed to have the best luck at it. I actually was playing it again until recently, when I got better games (rented Burnout Revenge, borrowed Zelda: The Minish Cap from cousin, bought Half-Life 2).

I never got full sets of the great stuff (came close, had all of the IK set for my barb cept for the armor and gloves), never had one of those totally uber MF sorceresses (my recent one had 317 mf, but it was not really good stuff, just topaz armor and good rares/rings (and a rhyme shield).

SO, I dont love or hate it. I'd say 6.3/10 on the like scale, but I really dont play it anymore.

Diablo II actually imrpoved the clicking thing to the degree such that I think every Action RPG for the PC should follow its model, and improve on it of course.

I do admit i do not play it as much as i used to.. during the first 2 years of playing it i put over 2500 hours ( no im not kidding u) i was wired on mountain dew back in the day drinking at least 24 to 32 cans a day! i seriously had a caffine problem and had to stop after a while i acculy cut it down to 12 then after the docter visits

I agree that this game is addicting, very much so. Even though the game is about 6 years old, it has kept its value and is still fun to play to this day. It also helps that blizzard fixed a major lag issue with the servers, and made the torches and anni's able to go in the trade screen. That and with a new ladder hopefully coming soon, and Blizzard actually asking for suggestions on there forums, which may lead to another patch, I will be playing this game for quite a while.

I may not be an "expert" at it, but I have strong enough characters that I can make the run to baal in a 8 player hell game, or rush a game full of 8 people in hell mode. Even the ubers are not really a challenge anymore. Still, its fun to play even now.

I loved D2 when I first played it, I use to be addicted to be it years ago but that changed. I also love the original, it was hilarious at times because of all the hackers and dupes. :amuse

If you guys start playing again, and happen to play on USWest server, i'd be willing to help get you guys started and on your feet. I still seem to have the addiction going strong, so I still am playing it to this day.

I am however, playing more Hardcore mode than Softcore mode as of late, I welcomed the challenge of having only one life and using skill to keep yourself alive. But, I don't mind going back to Softcore and slaughtering all in my path with ease everynow and then.

With the way the economy is in the game, getting high end gear doesn't take to long anymore, it kinda sucks, but can be nice if you're just restarting.

Perhaps we could make a channel to meet up in or something.

Well since you havn't started, you can pick whatever server you want to start off on. Going from East to West wont lag you that much if at all. Going from East to maybe Asia will, but noone really plays on Asia much.

If you wanna play East though, I guess it can't be helped...

What makes it addicting for me is the items in it. You can spend hours apon hours perfecting your items, searching for new ones, trading for them, making them etc. It addicting for many different reasons, but thats mine, I've been playing a long time and have yet to find one of each unique item in the game.

Nice account name Ssj3_goku, i was able to grab just "Mai" on USWest a while back. Before i had to scrap her to make a different char she was, you might have guessed it, a pure fire sorc.

I've got quite a few anime girls names along with a few anime guys names, hmm, maybe a should make a list of them...

An hour an a half??? Were you playing alone or with other people? Within 12 hours i could reach 85 or so, done so multiple times, only in softcore though. Been a long time since it's taken me that long to level, having gear to help you twink your char helps alot, along with a nice boost from the sorc's enchant.

Then there is always the option of joining other peoples games and leeching alot, which i dont really prefer personally, or the glitch rush, which is worse to me because you dont get to get the feel of your char down.

Good luck with your character, don't mess it up by mistake.
