I just started watching this series, I'm on the 2nd DVD, and so far it's awesome! The characters are great, really funny and likeable, and the music is good too. It's so funny, I love Naru she's so cool. Any other Love Hina lovers around here?

man love hina is hekka cool i watched it and read it man its tite one of the funniest animes out there. i fell so srry for keitaro though its not his fault that everyone thinks hes a pervert. and the only thing i don't like about it was the ending od the anime they only stopped at like volume 8 of the manga. love hina should have been a hekkka longer anime not just 26 eps

Me too.

I really liked the first dvd, but soon the rest of the series became FILLER-- infact the entire series is like one huge filler-fest.

I hate Love Hina! Sure, the anime is better than the manga, but they are so annoying all the time! >_< I don't see what's so fun with it... I hate Naru most of everything.

*says the guy who has a big Love Hina poster in his room and lend his voice to a Swedish Love Hina FanDub (as Kitsune >_<)*
But duh, the poster is a nice picture, and I like voice acting >_<

Here's my take on this topic:

The manga ROCKS. The anime SUCKS.

The manga, aside from being finished, had more coherent and more detailed storyline, while the anime felt like a total fan-service series, with a lot of fantasy elements, which eventually destroys the essence of the plot.

Naru was definitely more kawaii in the manga. She was a little chubby in the anime. And what the heck have they done on Mutsumi? She was less kawaii in the anime, not to mention, she feels more of a villain rather than Naru's competition to Keitaro.

Don't take my word for it. I mean, it's just a matter of taste. ;)

I liked it. It was one of those animes where you don't necessarilly have to worry about thinking. If you're in a bad mood, or just want to watch something with friends, you can pop it in sit back, and have a good time while watching. Whereas while watching something like Naruto, or Escaflowne the movie, I'd be like "Shut up. Let me fucking watch."

Love Hina is a fun show. If you go in not expecting a whole lot, other than leaving the room at the end of the day with a smile on your face, or atleast in a happier mood.

But yah, this is one of my favorite shows. The manga's hilarious and can be predictable at times, and I definitely sympathizes with the K-man. Naru pisses me off, though. >_>

Love Hina was one of the first anime I seen.

Love Hina manga - read it (sub and then english) <-- very good but repeats - *keitaro peeps then punch + kick* over and over and over again.
Love Hina Anime - very good, they twisted the manga story a little but I thought It was too short.
Love Hina OVA - one of the worst ova i seen in anime! >_<

It looks like they didn't have money and cut it short, ending it with a very bad OVA!

O yea I have most of the music CDs that came out with Love Hina 0.0

I thought the Love Hina anime was just OK. It had a lot of fanservice and there were a lot of filler episodes. Some episodes were good, like the one with Moe the doll. Overall, I enjoyed the manga much, much more than the anime. The Love Hina Again OVA I thought was just dreadful, but the Xmas special was the best part of the series, IMO.

Would you say that the sequel, 'love hina again', is worth comparing to the original?

You can compare anything to anything, and comparisons are a very useful tool.

I would say that LHA is vastly inferior to the original anime, and a total butchering of the manga. It tried to cram too much into 3 OVA episodes.

The whole purpose to Love Hina Again, was to do exactly what they weren't allowed to do in the first Love Hina. Which was a bunch of unncessary Girl on Girl action with Naru and Keitaro's very interesting 'sister'. I don't think they ever intended the show to be one of those 'favourites' I think they just wanted to make something that would make people laugh and have a good time.

In the Love Hina anime, during the summer by the sea story arc, there was an episode where Seta drops off Sarah with the Hinata House residents. He does this because he can't take sarah on his next dig. Sarah is determined to get herself kicked out of the house cause she doesn't want to become wierd like the rest of the people living there. So she asks Su to come with her to an island. Her plan was to leave Su on the Island and row back to shore. Tama Chan popped the raft and it sunk. So now Su and Sarah are stuck on the Island. Meanwhile some of the others are looking for them during the festival. Kitsune finds them and also gets stranded on the island. During there time on the Island, Kitsune is asking Sarah about her parents. Sarah says that she doesn't want to see her "real" parents even though they have a ton of money. Then Kitsune notices a wierd mark on Sarah's neck. No this wasn't the Panda Bear shaped birthmark on her butt.

So now, finally to my question. Do you think that this meant that Sarah was abused by her real parents? Kitsune acted concerned when she saw the mark on her neck. This was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw it.

it's much better than the anime in my opinion. There is a lot more character development and even if you watched every anime volume as well as all the movies, you still are missing 2 volumes worth of story in the manga that are really good. The character designs annoyed the hell out of me in the anime. Half the time they looked like muppets...

dspr8_rugged
11-27-2004, 10:47 PM
Don't worry about the "mark" on Sara's neck. You cannot conclude that she was physically abused by her parents. Besides, that mark was so small.

Now, if Sara had bruises all over her body...

That event in the anime is not that important anyway.

-----
Off-topic:

The manga is *definitely better* than the anime.

The anime, IMO was disappointing because it did not have the "romantic feeling" that manga was able to show, and a lot of fantasy elements were present. Besides, the characters look fatter in the anime.

And what the heck have they done to Mutsumi?!

MechaTC
11-27-2004, 10:57 PM
I thought mutsumi, shinobu and kanako were done the best in the anime out of all the characters.

And if the mark didn't mean that, then why bother to even show it? They show you a mark and you're like, "OK...why did they show that?" If it wasn't cause she was abused, then I don't understand it's purpose.

kyubinaruto75

I'm too lazy to write my own on it, so here's a synopsis I found somewhere:

Take one Ronin, an academic failure, and drop him into a dormitory where 5 women reside. Add a little clumsiness and what do you get? Humpty Dumpty? The Three Stooges? Well...sort of. Keitaro Urashima is a dunce. He's been trying forever to get into Tokyo U with little success and what's worse, his parents kick him out the door. When turning to his grandmother Hinata for help, he stumbles upon a group of crazy women whose worlds he turns upside-down. And maybe he does get a little love in the end, if the giant onions and earthenware don't kill him first. Of course...that's after the ladies are through with him. This is a humorous tale of a guy surrounded by women who strives to make into college while being kicked in the face with a lot of hard-knock love on the way.

It's not a hentai manga, but there is a fair deal of ecchiness in it, same with Ken Akamatsus other works, such as Negima.

Oh yeah, and Love Hina manga> Love Hina Anime, so I reccomend that you read that as well as/instead of the anime.

That's probably the episode where they do a play about... weird stuff. All I know is that they pull a "slave Princess Leia" in the episode. Naru's top comes off. God, I love this anime!

Actually, the manga series is much better. And the English actress who does the voice for Kitsune... *shiver* is horrible! Then again, changing the language is one of the great things about DVDs.

www.animenuke.com is a good place to download the manga. You can get the anime there as well but unless you buy a premium account you can only download one episode a day.

Instead for the anime, you may want to use www.mininova.org. Search love hina on there and you'll find some bittorrent downloads for the entire series. Don't know what language they're in though.

Love Hina is one of my favorite mangas ever. It involves a ronin, Keitaro Urashima (ronin is someone who doesn't pass their college entrance exams), and he is broke. He goes to see his grandma for help, since she owns a pretty famous inn. He walks in and notices there is an open air hot bath, so he takes a bath. But what he doesn't know is that the inn is now a girl's dormitory. And trouble meets him from then on...

It's a really good manga. And trust me READ THE MANGA!!!! There are 14 of them in total. Ther story goes on with Keitaro trying to get into his dream college, Tokyo U, and find his long lost love. It has a good storyline and good character design. It's not a hentai, but there are some revealings (nothing that explicit). Read it. It's great!

It seems that Akamatsu has a relationship with the female characters of Love Hina... kind of like a father-daughter relationship. And I think that's why he draws nipple-free breasts. That's what it sounded like when I read his notes in Volume 14.

MrBradMan

mmm... not sure about this file... I noticed 2 other torrents like that that are marked as vol 1, and vol 2. You may just want to pick up one of the dual audio torrents at the torrent page (http://www.animeyume.org/series.php?id=466&show=torrents). It's under the TV section, so your choice should be okay, however it's about a 4 gig download, that'd take a day or two, so if you don't want to possibly waste a day, I'd suggest getting one of the other torrents, or checking out boxtorrents.

I liked the series very, much, it was the first harem type anime that I watched. It's really funny and not realistic at all, especially when ketero receives a punch from one of the girls and flies to the other side of japan :amuse

I have been trying to download it, because in this backwater country I live in it really is a pain to try and get the dvd's. However seeding stopped and my download is around 50% argh! this sucks because I may have to find another torrent and start all over again.

Maybe someone (member of boxtorrents or anyone else) can make themselves usefull and earn lot's of rep by linking a good torrent and maybe seed it.

Love hina was good, but both anime and manga kinda dragged. it was so typical
keitaro decides he's going to bare his feelings to naru
naru decides the same thing
before they can do this something messed up happens
hilarity ensues
keitaro never gets any
and this went on in many different locations with many different twists, but essentially was the same thing over and over.
then they finally get it out, i love you, get married, the end.

with KAA's subs, don't you have to have a special codec pack from them? They have really nice HQ eps for all the series that they do... but that codec pack has always messed up anything else I played so I just uninstalled it.

Anyways, I really advise you to read the manga instead. Love Hina Again doesnt do enough justice as a sequel and it doesnt even complete the series. :/

I was very disappointed with this so called "anime" love hina! It's a disgrace to even use the two in the same sentence (slight exaggeration, but you get my point, don't you?)! First of all, there's no hot scenes w/ the girls (minus episode 1), that's what I wanted to see most! I also stopped watching at episode 8 because I got so sick of this trainwreck! Secondly, most of these girls act like they have sticks up their asses, especially Naru. Naru, oh my God, what the hell is her problem? She's always hatin on Keitaro about everything, especially accidental crap and flippin on him like *that, calm the fuck down bitch!!

Third, this trainwreck has no storyline whatsoever! My God, half the time the series doesn't make any sense! It goes to them taking a vacation, then hitching a ride then they're flying, then' they're on a deserted island, then it turns out to be the home of this chick? What the fuck is going on? I can't keep track, start makin some goddamn sense already!!

Hey now the manga is better anyways and the whole storyline covers Keitarou wanting to go to Tokyo U, the promise he made to his childhood friend, and the whole relationship between him and Naru. I liked the series but only the manga...

Besides if you're just watching to see nude anime girls then you need help.

Also there's nothing wrong with the majority of them having sticks up their asses it's what makes them interesting.

It doesn't even seem like you're paying attention. You're just skimming through it looking for "hot scenes" why not pay attention to the actual storyline? The train ride that Naru and Keitarou took was to get away from the others while they grieved over their failed attempt at getting into Tokyo U. The "chick" as you called her is named Mutsumi and is a friend of Naru and Keitarou's from childhood and knows who Keitarou made the promise too. Of course Naru thinks the person he made the promise too was Mutsumi and then they go to an island which is Mutsumi's home where Mutsumi loses her memory and Keitarou and Naru help her regain it. The last trip was when Keitarou thought he failed AGAIN so he took off someplace and everyone chased after him.

The manga is interesting... the anime is screwed up though....

But there are hot scenes. There are plenty of Naru or Motoko or Misumi body shots in the anime. You really can't expect it to be the same as the manga since weill it would take more then 25 episodes to cover the whole story.

As mentioned, the manga has more nudie/boobie/pantie scenes. Check that out. And there is a plot, as well as a sub-plot -- Keitaro's goal of getting into Tokyo U and his dreams of reuniting with the girl from his past. I'll let you decide which is the main plot and which is the sub, though. Because I don't know.

I definitely agree about Naru. She's hot as hell, but she pisses me off with how fickle she is when it came to Keitaro. If I were in his shoes, I probably would've pimpslapped some sense into her long ago.

Either way: Mutsumi > Naru.

Well the Hinata Sou girls DID arrive differently in the anime than the manga.

The Love Hina anime is a lot like the FMA anime and the Ranma anime in that it's fillerific to an unbelievably high level. After all I don't remember Keitarou's rival for Naru "Kentaro" in the manga. I don't remember Naru trying to become a pop idol either.

They could have just followed the manga instead of just doing their own thing... sure it would have ended up as a 13 episode series at best but at least it'd be better than the version put out. Heck I've seen many BIG Love Hina fans shun the anime because the manga is just THAT much better.

And yes it followed the manga VAGUELY but you can't say the anime was a true adaptation of the manga. That's like saying the FMA anime is a true adaptation of the FMA manga when that is in no way true.

Wrong. Love Hina is a lot more faithful to the manga than Fullmetal Alchemist.

Fullmetal Alchemist was being made while the manga is still currently being produced. So just like Trigun they had to diverge because they were making one singular story, while Trigun is still yet to finish. Both the Trigun and FMA animes were still fantastic though.

Yet Love Hina was 26 episodes and most of everything that happened in the anime was filler. Plus after the 26 episode series plus the three episodes of Love Hina Again they only got up to where? Volume 10, 11, or 12 of the manga? I mean come on you have to admit that pulling that off in around 29 total episodes is farfetched and could have only been done with a ton of filler in there. The Love Hina anime is FAR different from the manga which was my point. So basing how good the series is on the anime isn't really a fair judgment since the anime was screwed up anyways.

I got to say something in this discussion since I just read the whole manga this week.
Some years ago I saw the anime, and I thought it was VERY good. I didn't know about filler or whatanot since I hadn't read the manga yet, and I have to say those fillers wasn't bad when I look back at it. So, last week someone recommended the manga and I thought "Well, the anime kicked ass so the manga can't be bad". Now after having read the manga I can say that it I was right, the manga isn't bad, it's even much better than the anime.

Oh, and thread starter, if you only try to look for ecchi stuff and doesn't bother to listen/read the dialouge at all I can understand that you don't know what is happening. But if you really try to understand what is happening (which I don't think you do) and still doesn't know, you are just slow, sorry you fail at watching anime.

25 episodes actually.

Volume 10, 11, or 12 of the manga? I mean come on you have to admit that pulling that off in around 29 total episodes is farfetched and could have only been done with a ton of filler in there.

So they adapted all of those volumes and put in some other filler stuff? Big deal.

They also made the movies, the specials, and the OVA series which also adapted the manga in ADDITION to the 25 episode series.

The Love Hina anime is FAR different from the manga which was my point. So basing how good the series is on the anime isn't really a fair judgment since the anime was screwed up anyways.

I don't see how its so different other than some details and filler storylines here and there. The manga's story just continued further than the anime did. The point they stopped at in the anime was a good stopping point. And you never know, they might adapt the final manga volumes into anime in the future.

and the movies and specials had nothing to do with the manga either. Not that it matters since all anime movies and specials are like that in any case... that's why I only count the OVA Love Hina Again with the 25 episodes.

Bleach is what I could call accurate to the manga, Naruto despite this season of fillers is close to the manga, One Piece despite what few fillers they do have is still close to the manga.

How is the Love Hina anime close to the manga when people claim the manga is MUCH better than it? How is it close to the manga when they changed things from the manga like character introductions and such, added in filler characters, did a couple filler storylines as you said that made no damn sense. In fact how many episodes even CENTERED on what was in the manga? That's why to me it isn't accurate because it DIDN'T follow the manga. The people who made the anime just did their own thing with it. If anything it looks like they forgot about the manga until they were reminded that they HAD to make the anime somewhat of an adaptation to the source material ie the manga.
