Master Roshi did a kamehameha to put out the fire on Ox Kings mountain but I don't think we blewed up the moon. As far as my memory goes it was always picollo.

Roshi destroyed the moon but Kami reconstructed it after removing Goku's tail during the time he trained him and then years later Piccolo destroyed it again!

I never liked the "blowing up the moon" aspect. Roshi doing it didn't bother me too much because back then, Dragonball was just ludicrous.

But by the Saiyan Saga, a lot of focus had been put on Ki attacks, and it just bothered me that Piccolo would take 10 minutes to charge up a Makansoppo, but then destroy a small planet in one easy strike. It also took away the impect from Freeza because he could destroy planets easily, and so could Piccolo when his power level was just 300ish.

Episode 8 was great, only covered 1.25 chapters but again, it worked great. Next episode looks to cover around 3 chapters...

Are you talking about before and after Goku contacts Kame-sennin on the toilet?

I'd imagine a little bit of time passed by between that little training session and the Roshi scene. I also checked the manga, and that little bit of training was filler too. So I guess it's something they could've edited a little better (maybe place it before Goku did the Genki Dama).

Good episode, though. Can't wait for next week!

All of DBZ was ludicrous lol But at the same time, it wasn't quite the insane fantasy story that Dragonball was.

I can imagine destroying a moon to be much easier than destroying a planet. So Frieza was still impressive to me, the moon is cold and solid. But the inside of planets are all gooey and would take a more substantial whack to rip apart.

The fact that it seemed to take Piccolo absolute no effort whatsoever, implied that it could take about the same effort to destroy a planet as it did to summon a makansoppo. It just sort of lessened the gap between them.

Obviously Freeza was impressive nonetheless, but when I reflected on the events, it just seemed a bit inconsistent.

Had one guy have a semi-similar problem, but it worked when he right clicked and saved target/link as.

I once came with this premise for an alternate reality DBZ story:

A meteor actually does destroy planter vegata but the saiyans survive and later encounter earth. They decide to elmanate the earthlings and take over. But the leaders of earth offer to becaame their slaves,seeing that's the only way to survive.

SO the saiyans enslave the earthlings and make them thier servants and even force their fighters to become gladitors for their amusement. Goku in this reality was attemped to be sent to another plantet but his ship malfunctioned in orbit and crashed into the mountains where he is founded by grandpa gohan and raised by him,

But eventually gohan was found out and killed by saiyans and goku is forced to become a solider. GOku in this reality is more gruffer and serious in nature nut is a nice guy since he was raised by gohan. He is married to chichi but met her as a slave girl and bought her and the ox king's freedom.

The other z senshi are a bunch of freesom fighters led by piccolo, who in this reality, is still the son of Piccolo daimao but was killed when he was released by pilaf in an attempt to fight the saiyans. MR. satan is also a part of the resesitence and is a champion gladiator who is much more serious and conpetent than his dbz counterpart.

Goku befriends te freedom fighter and helps them in the fight against the saiyans. Bardock is still alive in this reality but doesn't have good relationships with his sons.

Bulma in thisreality had a relationship with yamcha but was bought by vegeta, causing yamcha to have a personal grudge againnst the prince of all saiyans.

The saiyans are finally overthrown when king vegeta is killed and the saiyans flee earth. The z senshi become celebrated heores but not wnating to be bothered ,they withdraw into hiding and goku lives a peaceful live with his family, leaving mr.satan to enjoy all the attention.

Yamcha is reunited with bulma only, to find that she is pregnant with trunks and developed some affection for vegeta. The saiyans are eventually eraditcated by freeza leaving only vegeta, radtiz, and nappa as the survivors. Vegeta, having no choice to but get help from goku to achieve his revenge, teams with him and the z senshi.

Goku only agrees because bbardock with killed and he recounciled with him during the overthrow and mostly because freeza is a threat to the universe. They all go to namek where freeza is searching for the namekian dragonballs.
During the fight against the forces of freeza, most of the heroes are killed. and goku goes super saiyan.

The androids in the reality were developed to fight against the saiyans by the red ribbon. Also, raditz and nappa become main characters. Nappa is named trunk's godfather and is like an uncle to him. Same thing with raditz to gohan.

I don't meant to troll or anything, but dbz sucks by today's standards. The animation in long fights was recycled a lot. The fights were dragged on so much that it caused them to be screamfests. SOmetimes, they were interrupted by bullshit filler.

Dragonball kai fixes all this.

I know what you mean. I don't mind it so much in motion, because it's not as noticeable, but for a still scene (such as Goku's death, like you said) it's not great on the eyes.

Another reason to look forward to the later episodes, considering earlier episodes of Dragonball Z don't seem to have the animation style which would translate well to some redrawing. It's that typical 80's style really..

In the dub why does Buu say super saiyan jin when Goku explains super saiyan transformations and when Vegeta says saiyan? And is the animation really different in the later seasons because it looks the same just with better video quality with age and well the art is better. But what was wrong with the old ones besides being too pencil like. But for a 80's animation it was great and consistent, I only remember one episode which was weird when Goku fought Captain Ginyu. Dragonball Z art faults are hardly noticeable.

2. I can only burn 4.35 gigs per dvd, I don't want to waste dvd's{using 3 or 4 dvd's to burn just 1 season is ludicrous}

Wow, Piccolo's run to save Gohan was fast.

In some ways, I almost prefer the fillered out version, that was docked with 3 second flashbacks that documented Piccolo starting to care for Gohan, allowing the drama of what Piccolo was going to do to sink in.

Still, this version retains the "wtf" shock of having a villain leap in the path of a hero with seemingly no obvious motive, and sacrifice his life for him. Very good stuff.

Overall, liked the episode; can't say I noticed too much redrawn stuff this time around. Felt good, but I'm beginning to get a little bit sick of the same few tracks repeating. However, the original show was exactly the same :P

I have a question. During the Super Sayien Goku vs 100% freezia match did goku die during the time the dragon brought everyone back to life? (remember when goku shot that huge kameha out and freeza was like this huge purple bubble.

No, nothing in the manga pointed to Goku dying. Goku was just hit into the ocean instead of dragged into lava by Frieza like in the anime. Instead of talking about how he managed to killed Goku like in the anime, Frieza just says "That'll teach you" in the manga. No mentions anything about Goku dying. Not King Kai or anyone. In the anime, after that Gohan filler, Goku comes out and Frieza is very surprised since he thought he killed him whereas in the manga he is just annoyed and comments that he is tough (not acting any where near as surprised to find Goku still battle ready like in the anime.)
