Well, that depends who is watching.

The action scenes are good, especially the gun fights. The twists in the story are quite surprising but nevertheless, eseential.

Oh yeah, the cat too. Can't miss that one every episode.

But, IMO, Trigun is quite good. Though I really don't like anime genres of this type - you know, the sometimes deep and dark moments. Watched it once, liked it, don't want to watch it again.

Well, that's just me. :D

Yup, I agree with dspr8_rugged.

I found the first few episodes very funny, the last few episodes very interesting, but there are a whole bunch of episodes in the middle that just make me go "whatever man"

Once again, lots of people will tell you it sucks because they always compare it to the manga and leave it at that.
Trigun as a whole work, I believe is disjointed but worth a watch. 7/10'ish.

Trigun used to be my favorite anime, until Naruto came along. But, it still stands at #2 and it always will. There are just so many elements in Trigun that are fabulous. I'll <3 Trigun forever.

Trigun is one of the best there are! The best for me is Slam Dunk but that's because it's about basketball, and the main character is so awesome too. Trigun is definitely up in the top 5 but even in the top 5 there are like 10 cus there are so many and you really can't downgrade anything. I just seperate my favorite and then good and bad since I can't really rate such different stories, etc.

I really liked Trigun, both the manga and the anime. The story was good, and you don't see as many sci-fi/ western crossovers. My only problem I'd have to say was that the animation was a little inconsistent at times but other than that I thought it was great.

I loved trigun enough that i got it. It's a great show to watch through once, and has good moral values attached. The humor is pretty good for the first half, and you don't see many animes get this dark starting the way trigun did. I can't get enough of the second half of the series. I liked the manga, but i haven't read maximum, so i can't really give a true opinion on it.

Personally I love Trigun. The production quality wasn't very high, but it's far too good a show to write it off because of that. It's got the same retro-future feel as Cowboy Bebop and uses it to full effect, producing some great gun fights. The characters are great and play off each other well and the storyline is very good. If you liked CB, you should like this. Or if you're just a fan of good anime.

I also liked Trigun, though it's not one of my favorite animes, it's still pretty good. At first it was funny as hell for the first half. I still can't keep a straight face when Vash starts to says "Love & Peace" thing. The only bad thing for me was in the middle where it indeed did get a bit "That's it?" feeling, but then again, almost every anime has few episodes that were'nt that good...

^_^ I liked Trigun ¬_¬ although I'm still in complete denial about a certain event...it never happened I tell you!! Anyhoo, I thought Trigun had a good mix of seriousness adn humour. I agree that it did get quite dark later on in the series, but Vash and Woolfwood are great characters, as well as Milly abnd Meryl. :D I liked the fact that the cat appeard somewhere in every episode ^^

Personally, I thought Trigun was real kick ass. It's in my top 5 favorite animes because along with the other four, it was good enough to make me sad! I think an anime is good if it can make me feel emotional in anyway.

I just loved the characters, the character development, and the gun fights. Vash, I think, is one of the best anime characters of all time.

mIRC (www.mirc.com) is a program where people can download & share files and chat. If you get the program, you connect to the server irc.highway.net and join the channel #ckmoney. You can go to http://anime-fansubs.net:8008/Mirc-howto.php for a basic IRC guide and http://www.akatsukimanga.com/leech.html for a guide on basic IRC + leeching on IRC (basically on how to download files using mIRC).

Can someone give me the 411 on Trigun? I've watched up the episode 21 and it's good enough that I'd like to see more :) MaximusR34, I just want to say that, for me I didn't really like the animation style, and Milly Thompson and Meryl Stryfe were kind of a turn off at first, but it is a pretty cool series later on, I'd rank it up there with Naruto, Bleach, FMA and such. Anyhoo, if you could tell me who the prominent fan sub groups are or if the series is over and how many episodes were released, etc, I'd appreciate it greatly. Thanks in advance.

I just finished watching the series and I have to say, I love whoever did Vash's voice. Just a really really great voice, especially during comedic moments. However, I'm really here to get some clarification on the story. I started the series a while ago, stopped, then resumed just recently so I might have forgotten some key information and maybe an episode (I forgot exactly where I left off). My biggest question has to do with Rem and Knives. Was it ever explained who Rem was in relation to Vash and Knives? Also, how did Vash "save" Knives? Lastly, what is Vash's real name, as per when Nicholas D. Wolfwood asked him for it? Thanks in advance for the clarifications :amuse

If you mean the dub, the VA for Vash is Johnny Yung Bosch or something like that. as for the thing with Rem, there is a whole episode explianing their past with her. Basically she was like a mother to Knives and Vash and she was killed as was everyone else on their ship besides vash and knives. I don't know what your talking about Vash "saving" Knives. and Vash's real name is Vash. I hope i have been able to help you
.

TippmannMan
07-27-2005, 02:23 AM
I watched the original version with subs, and I liked that particular VA, haven't seen Trigun on CN yet, but I've heard some bad things :(

Maybe it's something lost in translation, but in the subs I saw one episode had Vash saying something like "I understand Rem, I finally understand, I will save Knives!" And then, the real name thing I also got from the one episode with the sniper and the guy named Chapel, when Wolfwood was like "Tell me, what is your real name?" and Vash doesn't answer.

Thanks for replying anyway. I appreciate it.

Well i rly didn't like this series for a few reasons but i could answer a question. Vash's real name is VASH...it's always been and what he means by saving him i guess is that at the end he beats him but does not kill him, other wise saving him. I donno really and i didn't pay much attention since this show kinda sucked, but that's all i really know out of the questions you asked.

First of all, the quote "save Knives" is relating to washing away sins. Second, Rem saved Vash and Knives when they were found. The rest of the crew wanted to kill them but Rem stopped them (this is apparent in a 5 second flashback from the epsidode Rem Saverem in which Rem steps in front of the capsule that contains them and says [from english dub] "No, Don't!"). In this way Rem became a maternal figure.
I also want to point out that Knives isn't necessarily 'evil' and he just hates humans. He tries to be nice to Vash on several occasions after they land. The destruction of July was only because Vash went to see one of Rem's reletives. I think the reason Knives killed him is because he thought it better for Vash if he left behind such ties, not to be evil.

Now for my opinion: Awesome. Legato rocks!

Trigun is one of my favorite series of all time. A few years ago I realized I had nearly two hundred dollars saved up and I bought Trigun, Outlaw Star, and (regretably) Chobits.

But I think Trigun is one of my favorite series of all time. It's at least in my top ten.

I remember one of my older sister's friends told me about it and said it was really unlikely that it would ever be on tv because of all the blood. When it aired I was really surprised and really glad that I had a chance to see it.

I never thought it would turn out as serious as it did. It just started out so silly.

It makes me cry so much. I just watch Paradise, the ep where Wolfwood dies, on Adult Swim (I love it when it makes it back into rotation) and I knew it was coming. I really did. But when it happened and he was in the church I just bawled my eyes out.

Interesting that people are giving this or that answers for all that.

Here is what I know:

1) The people who "hate" Tri-gun are stupid people. Note I said "hate". The people who don't care for it are fine, as that is personal taste. But the people who hate it and say it sux usually do so because Tri-gun is very much a cerebral anime that is all about the the great moral dilemas of mankind, and the best part of the series is that it makes no pretentious answer about which way is right or wrong, but instead through the anime argues all areas equally, and in fact at the end, both Wolfwood and Vash have come around somewhat to the other's point of view, thus really stating that neither was completely right or wrong. But see, this kind of depth to an anime is over the head of stupid people, therefore they hate Tri-Gun, as ignorant people always hate what they cannot understand.

2) Vash's name is never revealed in the Anime (haven't read the manga). All Vash said about his name was to Wolfwood, which was "Between you and me.....my name is irrelevant."

3) Rem is the person who brought up Vash and Knives. An aside - the "Seeds" project, in addition to moving humanity to a new planet, sought to use cleaner fuels so as to not harm their new home. Thus they came up with the sort of human-plant hybrid technology. Thus the "plants" in the series are powered by actual living plants: but since the crash, the technology was lost, so people weren't aware that that there were living plants in the actual power plants (I love the double meaning for this word in the series). Vash and Knives were the culmination of this technology, and meant to be the ultimate in communicators between the new plants which were to power their new home, and the humans - ambassadors, so to speak.

4) In the end of the series, the heavy implication is that Vash DID KILL KNIVES. It was a moment of clarity - Rem in her last moment meant take care of Knives as "TAKE CARE" of Knives - because at that moment, Rem realized the horror of Knives, and even in that, a Knives left alive would kill all over again. That is why at the end of the series, Vash tells Rem (in his own head) that while he respects her opinions, from now on, he is going to find and follow his own path. Not to say that Vash now will kill people - not going to happen, because it isn't in his nature. What Vash is saying is that he realizes that there are no absolutes in life, and nothing is right 100% of the time, no matter how nice an idea it sounds. Therefore, he has chosen to in a sense, cast off ignorance and allow that his original line of thinking isn't always the right one.

5) Also adding into the "Take Care of Knives", it has always been my own interpretation that Knives way to "post mortem" atone for his sins is that, while his consciousness died, he still is a living plant. Therefore, Vash is going to plant and water him, and Knives will eventually become the vegitation for the planet: he tried so hard to kill humans off, but ultimately his death is what allows humanity to survive.

But see, that is the beauty of Tri-Gun. It is so deep, and yet leaves so much open to discussion, because unlike many people and the media nowadays, it never claims any particular way is right. Rather, it shows the good and the bad of each side of the coin, and in a concept novel for those in the US, actually allows the viewer to form their own ideas, rather than telling them what they should believe.

That is the beauty of Tri-Gun, and why to me, it is one of the best Anime of all time....

Fighting Spirit
07-19-2006, 12:23 PM
Well if you watch it nowadays you won't find it that amazing. It just felt too unrealistic, as if the eps was made in a hurry through the whole series.

But all in all, i'd rate it 6.5/10. But if i'd watch it back when it was made i'd probably rate it 10/10 considering this show reminds me of other series that I LOVE.

I really liked it, I think the gung ho guns (lol they even have a doujutsu user) can rival Akatsuki as a diverse evil organization. I think the fact that the end in't 100% one way or another so different people can get very different impressions from it, for instance I thought he shot knives in his shoulders and thighs, the same injuries Vash had, and since Knives has never been shot or injured in his life he went into shock. This brings up an interesting interpretation and is how i originally interpreted it, Knives had the luxury of never getting shot because of the way he thought, he could get himself out of a situation by avoiding danger and killing those who get in his way. However, Vash's "save everyone" attitude caused him to take extensive damage over his long lifetime caused him to be tempered against his physical pain and suffering. The different fellings/outcomes people can get after watching this is really nice and is one of its good points
