I read 1 and a half of them. The first book was good. Maybe a 7.5 out of 10 to me. I didnt finish reading the second book halfway through. I dunno why but I thought i lost it but when I found it I was re-reading the Harry Potter books.

i finished reading the first one and liked it alot. im about 200 pages into the second one and it is becoming more interesting, especially with...the resistance and kitty.
I've been meaning to check it out for a while now.

its quite good. i like it mostly cause it isn't all about the magician or wizard doing the spells themselves. there really aren't like magic duels like you get in harry potter. also one of the main characters is witty, which adds some humor to the book.

I've read the first book and I'm trying to get hold of the second. One of the main characters is funny like hell and I nearly ROFL anytime he had a chapter of refelction. :laugh

Nathaniel? True. Bartimaeus itself is my favorite character. His wit and humor amuse me.

The Bartimaeus Trilogy...words cannot express my love of this series.
At first, I saw my friend reading it. It looked okay, so I asked her what it was about, and she said it was about this 12-year old boy/magician in London. I was like...12 years old? I don't want to read a book with a 12 year old kid in it...but then I was bored and took her book to read for awhile. I ended up borrowing both books from her.
This series is like Harry Potter...you can't put it down!! Read it read it read it!!
I promise you'll love it...if no, I will send you a episode of YGO. ;)

You mean you guys don't have the third book out in the states yet? Ptolemy's Gate has been widely available in Australia for months. It was awesome to the exxtreme.

I only read the first volume at the moment because my library hasn't got the others yet(and I'm completely broke most of the time), but I can't wait to read them! Bartimaeus is just... hilarious. I simply love him. It's so much fun to read his point of view... xD

Damn, I didn't know there was a thread for this great series. Which is a pity because I was desperate to vent after finishing the third book some months ago.
Anyway, there's a really unique brand of humour to the writing. I never got bored with the direction of the story, and found Nathaniel to be very likeable myself. Of course, I loved Bartimaeus the most. The footnotes were absolutely brilliant. I'd recommend these books in a flash.

Damm, that ending was sad and Amazingly powerful:wtf
The way nathaneil sacrificed himself in order to save Bartimaeus was touching.

I'm usually against thread necromancy, but I'm glad that this one reminded me that the third book came out (although, I'm three months late of course)! Nice series. It's an interesting change from other fantasy books. I especially love the awsome footnotes. :P

phew. i read it recently from my school library. i read the first one last year and LOVED it :) and only found out this year that theere were two more.
they're all really good. my favourite would half to be the last though it ws really sad at the end how Nathaniel dies
I cried :cry
Bartimaes is the best character. Soooooooooooo witty and humourous.
i heard that it's being made into a film! ^^
on the inside cover of one of them it said they sold the rights to Miramax..
is that true? ^^

Not really sure, it would be awesome though. Yeah, I've read all three, it was definitely an awesome series. But the ending of the last one kind of left one of those holes in me, kind of makes you wish they would somehow continue the series. I like how the author played the characters, how he made Kat seem like the person who would "replace" Ptolemy, and yet Nathaniel was the main character, plus in the end he seemed to care for Bartimaeus more considering he... you know.

Ive read all of them and i thought they were fantastic books i was quite upset at the ending of the 3rd book mainly for the fact that it was the end of the trilogy
