Why is Hitsugaya so popular?(manga spoilers)

okay to start, don't get me wrong now, i like Hitsugaya so don't take this as a flame thread. I was just wondering why everyone likes him so much. i like him just cuz hes cool looking and its funny cuz hes small and stuff but is a captain. but a bunch of people have either Hitsugaya avatars or sigs yet few people have sigs or avatars of any other characters in Bleach. he wins in all the popularity polls no matter what they are, he wins em just if hes mentioned. i just don't get how hes so hugely popular! he's had only a few appearences, the only time we saw him fight he got his ass kicked, and we havent even learned his history or anything. so why, why does everyone love him so much?

I still think old man Yamamoto's is stronger, then again he has a stronger reikai to back it up. But his is both the oldest and strongest fire sword. I think Hitsugaya's ice sword is also the strongest of its element. But I sorta get the feeling that Yamamato's sword edges it out for some reason

When comparing Yamamoto and Hitsugaya's shikai, Yamamoto's wins out due to his elements advantage. Fire<Ice. That and Yamamoto is the fastest and possibly strongest captain of the Gotei 13. When Byakuya and Ichigo face off, Byakuya makes a comment on how Ichigo's immense spirit force reminds him of Yamamoto. I'm thinking its Yamamoto, due to the fact that after that the scene changes to where...dang forgot their names...the lazy and sick captains are retreating after destroying the Ultimate Soul Slayer(spear). Yamamoto makes that remark about how he's been waiting forever for them to show up. Then he glares at the lazy captain's Vice Captain and his spirit pressure alone sends her into shock to the point where she cant even breathe.

But yah, the reason why Hitsugaya is so popular is beacause he the kinda short, white spikey haired, geniusy, bad-ass Captain. Now whats better than that. Besides an old man who PWNS everyone's ass.

Well, I'm not Utz, but I can somewhat back-uo his Ban Kai's potential destructive power.

When he used his Ban Kai against Aizen, all the pillars and almost half the surrounding area became completely frozen. And that's just his spirit pressure doing that. Imagine what potential icy destruction he could cause by attacking?

lol good eye, theyre hairstyles are really similar. Hitsugaya will probably wind up being the leader of Soul Society some day like old man yamamato. I dont think hes the strongest or amongst the top yet, but he probably has the most potential.

TenshiOni pretty much hit the points. The most popular kid in school isn't the one who can beat everyone up! It's the one with the kakkoii attitude, stylish hair (COME ON MAN THE HAIR), and I am biased towards the seiyuu as well. I LOVE Paku Romi's shounen parts. Notables are Edward Elric [FMA], Katsushirou [Samurai 7], and Hitsugaya!

Infact he's the reason why I got introduced to Bleach. When I realised the unknown white-haired guy is from Bleach, I knew I had to watch it to see why he's so popular.

Saying Kenpachi would pwn him... We don't know, the thing about Tousen's and Komamura's bankais is that they were the exact right thing for kenpachi. He's fearless (Tousen's psychological effect=o) and SUPERstrong(VS komamura). Hitsuguya might be able to put up a fight, but I don't get why they like him... 1-white spikyish hair. Just doesn't get any better. All the best characters out there have a similar hair style. Yukishiro Enishi (Rurouni Kenshin), Niou Masaharu (Prince of Tennis)
2-looks like a kid ( I don't know his age, and seems like shinigamis don't age in Bleach, since Rukia is 100+.) But in the flashback that showed Hinamori and him, he seemed to act like a kid. Who knows? Him being a kid makes him unique out of all the captains. He stands out the most.
3-Is the smart guy. Knew what was going on, and did the right things.
4-I usually don't really like the "genius" type since they are usually very stereotypical, and I don't even know if he's one. But he's different, si I like him.
5-He's always acting cool but sometimes he will be agressive. "I'll kill you!"
6-Dragons are used wayyy too much in animes/mangas. But his is okay I guess. Same thing goes to ice. He would still be my favorite even if he didn't have the ice sword.
7-His status as a captain. He's also the captain of division 10. How good does it look on your back??? To have the "10" kanji. Only one that would be better is "1". And because Matsumoto is his VC, and everybody likes Matsumoto too.

Well he does have the ancient ice blade or whatever if it's like the ice element counter to old man yama's sword he is bad ass. Course hitsu's spirit pressure is no where near that guys level so naturally it wouldn't be as strong but Zaraki was beaten by Ichigo BEFORE he had most of his abilities, the high speed, the bankai, and he was able to escape him later on in the series Hitsugaya's bankai could probably take him, Tousen's seemed kinda lame just attacking in darkness plus the knives stabbing him that's perfect for zaraki to win. Though it did seem like all of that arcs major villian's subordinates were holding back or uninjured when they re-appeared. Plus the other captain just ran away without attacking him anyway, he started to but then he felt yama's spirit pressure.

Well - it's three factors :

1.) The young age. Most fangirls, if having to choose between grownups and 11 year olds to drool over will choose the young ones.
2.) The "Nyah, troublesome !" attitude of his, and his constant bored/mysterious expression. Unlike Sasuke's ABB (Angsty Brooding Bishie) factor, Hitsugaya has the FaBB factor (Fierce and Boisterous Bishie) in spades.
3.) The nice shi/bankai. Fanboys are attracted by cool things, and summoning a dragon made of ice counts as "cool thingie".

the answer to this thread, for me, is that everyone likes a kid genius that can keep up with the mightiest warriors who are all like 100 years old, the fact that he has a cool attitude and white spikey hair makes him one of the coolest charaters in bleach.

Ichigo definitely has not mastered ban kai but it doesn't matter if the method of acquiring ban kai is different, one way or another, ban kai is ban kai.

There's no doubt Ichigo is a genius but really, if you think in soul society standards, Hitsugaya is a genius in their perspective.

But truly, Urahara is the insane genius in my eyes. Learning a different method of ban kai, expanding the limit of a shinigami, the creation of hougyoko, etc.

I understand why Hitsugaya is popular, there is a certain appeal of characters that looks waaay younger than most (again, soul society standards) and being a genius and acting very cool (hah, play on words).

Thinking that a lot of the people that post here at kids and stuff, well we were all there so we would understand too. To remember when we couldn't do things that older people could, in this case Hitsugaya is a captain and can. Plus when he was blocking the battle between, umm...I'm sorry but those two when Captain Aizen (I can't spell and I've lended my DVDS of bleach out to people so I can't rewatch it) died. why is that?
Komomura, aka foxface, got his ass kicked when aizen used black coffin, which is as powerful as hakudo gets.
then, he only stayed down for a few minutes

hitsugaya got his ass kicked from just a small cut from aizen's blade.

now, his ice doesn't rule. just got smashed by that luppi arrancar's tentacles.
and, number 10 yammi broke out of the ice just as easily.
