Please post your remarks and vote on the poll.
I will post the reason why when we get a nice number of voters.
Thank You

who care about graphics, i would rather have fun playing a good game than play a game with amazing graphics.
would you play a game where all you do is sit in a room, but it has the most realistic graphics, or would you play a game where you can join another world, and learn the story, while killing enemies, but it has not as good graphics.
note: mario kart DS is not an adventure game.
Geez, if people liked graphics over gameplay, the GC would have sold more than the PS2.
Btw, i am not flaming you just stating out a point.

I want this game badly, Mario Kart rocks like no other. A little bit off topic, have any of you heard about the Mario Kart arcade releasing over in Japan? A shame there aren't enough arcades left in America to warrant a stateside release of the machine, I'd love to play that...

Ssj3_Goku

Nerf Herder
07-14-2005, 11:15 AM

I'll definitely get it. Mario Kart games are always very good, and I'm always on the lookout for new DS games (since the catalogue so far isn't too great). :) And once my girlfriend gets a DS, it'll be great to play multiplayer - we've played MK-DD to death. :laugh

TheWon
07-19-2005, 04:15 PM
what about you other guys. Do you want to particpate in Project mKart. If you don't know what it is read this.

Project: MKart

Project :Mk what is it? Well for you none anime fans Project: Mk is a idea develope by my friends and I. Which is base from Initial D 4th Stage anime series.
Being a huge Initial D Fan. I wanted to merge the 1 on 1 racing of Initial D with Mario Kart. Creating a excellent chance to race various people and build a huge Online Mario Kart DS community. That’s is what we want to do with the soon to be release Mario Kart DS.

This concept is base off of the current information we have on the Mario Kart Ds game and the Nintendo WiFi Connection. As new info is released Project: Mkart will be a justed.

With Project: Mk we basically want people to form teams and race against other teams. Using the DS Wifi Connection that will be online when Mario Kart Ds is out for sale.

Teams will consist of either 4 or 5 members. Where teams members will race in 1 on 1 head to head battles. The team with the best record out of 4 or 5 races ( 4-0 or 3-1} wins the battle. If a tie {2-2} happens The team captains or best driver will have a deciding last race.

Mario DS is capable of 4 player wi fi. So 2 player should be easy.

All race challenges will made a week in advance. 7 days between the match being made and the race. You would challenge a team on monday and have them match on sunday. For the race each team will select one track “their home course”.The one course The Team Captain and members agree they would not lose it.. Then during the in between days each team will be able to practice on the tracks. Just like in Initial D going to their home course and trying to beat them. The Head to Head duel will be played like a normal 2 player race mode "Like the Orignal Super Mario Kart." This will give team members chances to build up their "Nintendo Ranking!" So picking members by their skill and not by freindship is a most.

There will also be Battle Mode team battles. 2 vs 2. First team to win 5 battles win the Battle challenge. In Battle Mode the main rule is to have one off your team members win. If you defeat your 2 rivals, then may the better man win. We want to keep it so your overall Nintendo Ranking or record will not be affect. How ever Nintendo plans to do it.

Ok so now you are wandering how will we keep track of Team Victorys Etc Etc.We will be building a website or create a huge Forum dedicate to Project: Mk.
This site will keep track of all teams Profiles, Stats, and rankings will be posted by us. Team Captains are to report results by DS Picochat or Email. Then We will up load to the website or Forum.

So here is a quick run down.
4-5 member teams
Head to head races or 2 vs 2 battle mode.
Best out of races determine Team Winner. 4-0 3-1
In 2-2 tie tie breaker on random track. Best team player.
Each team selects home track.
Each team will be given time to practice on.
7 day challenge to race period.
tryout races for new members.
Website or Forum built for project.

I hope you found my idea instresting. This could and can be a huge Online event. With this system you can still have your everyday Nintendo battles and on the weekend. You and your friends can race against me any my friends. The more Teams we can get the biggier this can become. If you have any thoughts or questions. Please post in this Topic thread. I Personally will keep it up untill Mario Kart is Release.

I was looking at my new Nintendo Power magazine and I read a letter to the editor.

William N wrote
Wi Fi enables people all over the world to Ds games with one another. I was wondering if you can actually tell who you are playing against. If I wanted to play my friend in town or my cousins in another state. Would I be able to play them rather in some random person form North Dakota?

THe managing Editor I assume is Scott Pelland answers with
"After a joke about no one living in North Dakota" In all seriousness, the Nintendo Wifi Connection will indeed allow you to hook up with players of your choosing. We will learn more on exactly how the service works in the coming months.

Ok I know he is just a editor for a magazine, but he does work for nIntendo.
So according to him We will be able to pick who we want to play.
Knowing this the Team vs TEam idea can work.

Thanks to Nintendo Of Europe.com

This is a straight copy from their site!

Mario Kart is the undisputed king of kart racing games. Throughout 13 years and four games (soon to be five), we’ve been blessed with some of the finest four-wheeled action you could ever wish for.

With the arrival of Mario Kart DS on November 25, the series enters a new era - but it hasn’t forgotten its illustrious past. Today we take a test drive around some of the classic circuits that make a welcome retro-themed reappearance in Mario Kart DS.

Out of the 32 tracks on offer, 16 are classic courses picked from the cream of Mario Kart history. As Mario Kart DS’ producer Hideki Konno revealed during our Games Convention interview: “We identified 16 of the best courses that people really enjoyed playing in the past…I believe that the players who used to play these courses are going to have a very nostalgic feeling.”

And indeed we had a nostalgic tear in our eye when we touched tarmac on tracks we hadn’t seen in years. Boy, was it good to be back!

History repeating

Collected together as the Retro Grand Prix, the 16 classic circuits are split into four Cups - Shell, Banana, Leaf and Lightning - each containing four tracks taken from each of the previous Mario Kart games.

Fittingly, the first classic track you’ll come across in Mario Kart DS is also the first track from the first game - Mario Circuit 1 from the original Super Mario Kart on Super Nintendo.

If (like us) you’re old enough to remember the track layout from all those years ago, you’ll be pleased to know that nothing has changed except the graphics, which are now rendered in proper 3D rather than the flat ‘Mode 7’ style of the SNES era. In fact, all of the graphics for the classic tracks have been rebuilt from scratch for this DS version.

After storming through the Super Mario Kart circuit in first place, next up was one of our favourite Mario Kart 64 circuits: Moo Moo Farm. The bumpy barnyard track was perfectly recreated - right down to the pesky moles that send your kart into a spin. Even the music has been brought over to DS intact, in all its banjo-twanging glory.

Super sounds

The sound effects have also been given a boost too. Thanks to the DS’s superb surround sound you can hear the other characters racing around you - from Peach’s giggling as she overtakes, to Donkey Kong’s disgruntled grunting as you drop a banana in his path.

The next track we tried, in the Banana Cup, was from Mario Kart: Super Circuit on GBA. Fans will remember Bowser Castle 2 for its flame-spitting lava pits, Thwomps that hover menacingly above, and lanes littered with strategically placed speed boosters. Thankfully, the classic time-shaving tricks still remain, so if you get pasted by another player over Wi-Fi in November, they’re probably an old Mario Kart master.
For our final look at the classic circuits, we sampled one of the top tracks from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! on Nintendo GameCube - Mushroom Bridge. Centred around a giant iron bridge, the race takes place on a regular road packed with traffic - making an eight-player race a frantic vehicle-dodging affair.

The addition of 16 classic tracks - on top of 16 new tracks - not only gives the DS version more courses than any Mario Kart game before it, but it also allows newcomers to experience some of the best kart racing around. And Mario Kart fans needn’t worry that their time-honoured tracks have been messed with, as these retro racetracks play as perfectly as ever. In fact, with the addition of new items (plus all the old favourites like red shells and bananas) they’re better than ever.

Sadly, that’s all we can divulge for now about Mario Kart DS’ Retro Grand Prix, but we’ll be back soon with info on the Nitro Grand Prix - featuring the brand new circuits created for the game - and many more details about the best Mario Kart ever!

Uh, I have a question for those that actually have the game -- how is the control? Do you actually use the stylus for anything? And how is it compared to its cousins on the SNES, N64, GameCube?

It is the perfect Blend of all the over games. Tight control like SMK, the Power Slide form 64 and the Drafting from Double Dash. It is the best mario kart game ever!

Totally agreed. This is one of the best Mario Kart games to come out. A perfect blend of all the other Kart games, so it's even better for anyone who has followed the series from the beginning. Absolutely wonderful.

you can play anyone in the world who has online. also who here has the online? if so could you tell me what you bought and where you bought it?

I think (although not totally sure) that you can only get it from nintendo.com.

Yeah, the USB Connector is only available through Nintendo.com. If you have a compatible wireless router (the list is at http://www.nintendowifi.com) though, you don't need anything but to be in range of the router to play online.

But if you can get a wireless router go right ahead and get one. It was so easy to connect to it.

Is it any different than the other mario kart games? Are there any extra features or something like that?

My bro has it but doesn't have a clue on how to get the WEP key.

If anybody knows, it would be most appreciated.

Find out who set the WEP key. If your ISP did, then they would have told you what it was.

It's a decent game, online is fun. My name is of course "Zeno", so if you see me online in a game, that would be me.

You can buy wireless routers for around 30 to 10$.

I love the game, but I've only been able to play online once. I think it's the best MK so far, bar none. The only problem is the infamous "snakeing" technique, but once you master it it's quite fun.

thats very true Rock lee and i tried the snakeing technique and to all mk gamers try and master on arcade or practice mode because it can cost you the race if you get it wrong!!!!

Well Alot of people hate snakers, because snaking can own although there are like two carts that can do it very well. Ahh my bro has the game and I play it all the time I can.

RockLee

I personally don't like snaking. Whenever I can, I try to get with friends and play no snaking games.

However, if you are going to compete online, snaking is a must.
