1. NHB MMA (No-holds-barred mixed martial arts). To be general, I'll also include both MA and MMA competitions such as muay thai/kickboxing, san shou, kyokushin, Olympic wrestling, submission wrestling/BJJ, judo, boxing, etc.

MMA is cool too, but yeah. I don't like Martial Arts as sports too much. It takes the "martial" out of the art. The main principle of sports like these is which the training teaches you how to "win". However, others such as Wing Chun focuses much more on "survival". Don't get me wrong, I love MMA, but I just prefer martial arts which aren't really sports.

MMA

Reason - They pull world class kickboxers, judoka, gjj, sambo, and etc.. together to compete for the true title of which man is the #1 fighter in the world. It was physicaly demanding sport where you put your pride and health at risk all for the love of the game. And you have to love the game to play it because there really isn't alot of money in this sport unless you're top 5 and in the 155lb+ division.

Boxing is a close second, because it's 10x more physicaly demanding then MMA because of the 10 count, bigger gloves, and multiple rounds. My problem with it is (like most other major sports) the corruption.

Sport martial arts can be just as deadly if not more so than " combat" martial arts. Competition against various opponents was the original purpose of martial arts, whether it's a sport or life and death. Most "combat" martial arts did have competitions at one point in their history.

Wing chun has had competitions with other Chinese styles and other wing chun artists for centuries. By your definition, wing chun should also be a sport martial art. It can even be considered MMA because they fought with other systems and adapted accordingly.

If you're going by love of the sport, you can't beat Olympic wrestling. There is absolutely NO money in the sport. There are only a couple of wrestling scholarships in the country. You win the NCAA championships? Good for you, you get nothing. Win an Olympic medal? Good, but you won't get a lot of money through sponsorships. Even Cael Sanderson doesn't make that much money with his shoe deal compared to other athletes of differing sports. And Olympic wrestling is an all-season sport and they train harder than everyone out there and for what? Personal pride.

Football...AMERICAN FOOTBALL is the best sport. No other sport has drama...(ALL sports have drama!) US Football has the most fans in the US, also in Canada, Germany, England and Japan. I won my first match today by Technical Knockout!! ( amateur boxing tho)

I was always hitting him whit my jab right on the nose!! then when he was coming at me POW over right hand on the chin or on the side of the head. The ref stoped the fight 3 times during the match for standing count.

The first round it was 9 against 1 for me, in the 2nd one 21 against 8 for me and the 3rd one i don,t know, but it was something like 30 against 21 for me , yeah he made a good comeback!

All the damns spectators were for him lol i only had my coach and my 2nd coach whit me lol, anyway and the ref stopped the match at the middle of the 3rd round. i was really confused i didn't even know it was finished when my coach just said come here you haha you won whit tko. and then the people in the front row all gave me the hand and said that it was a good match ..damn i'm so glad :'(

Concerning the five mainsteam sports, rather the American mainstream: first of all, I honestly don't see how *anyone* can be bored while playing basketball. Even if you suck so horribly that nobody wants to pass you the ball, you can always "work on your game". Getting better at basketball is very similar to weightlifting by the fact that the more you do it, you are guaranteed to get stronger, or rather, better. Football to me is the ultimate team sport making it very fun in that sense alone. Offense or defense, pick and dedicate yourself to a position to advance your team. I can only enjoy baseball and soccer if I'm enthused about that particular game. They can be very enjoyable when playing against equally enthused people. Concerning hockey, well it looks fun, but it is very limited. The one thing the other sports have over hockey is that you can go almost anywhere and see a crowd of people playing baseball, football, basketball or soccer and they will always let you join in the game. You just won't see that with Hockey, thus the state that it is in now. It does seem to me that it's glory is coming back though.
