It's not like many other people come to these boards (though they are more than welcome). When there is downtime, that is when discussion for an episode or piece of info has ended and there nothing to really talk about I don't see the problem with talking casually about things on the thread. I think it was mentioned we're kind of like one big family here :) At the very least I know I feel more comfortable talking with you guys than people in other parts of the forums, not to disrespect fellow members of some of the fanclubs I'm in

THINGS ABOUT GSD I WOULD LIKE TO SAY
1. after seeing justice and arthrun in episode 42 I would like to say that i am officially an Athrun Fanboy once more, Shinn is now my second favourite character.
2. What is the name of Rey's piano piece that people where talking about before? I would like to download it if possible!

dont worry. i get that sometimes too. wait, i thought u were a shinn fanboy? so u had always liked athrun more? rey's piano peice, i swore i saw it in the suit cd that chopstickx posted a while ago before i deleted the album....it seems only a few of the sui cd's actually have good songs....

Tokyo, Nara, Kobe, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei, Vancouver, Quebec, the east coast, London, Birmingham, Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux, Vienna, Rome, Brussels, Geneve, Berlin and Bonn.

If you travel to europe, always locate the nearest restroom, there are not that many. Watch out for little kids, some of them are pick pockets. :laugh

Taipei has the tallest building in the world, taipei 101. The whole island of Taiwan can be traveled in a day. From taipei to Goushun then to Tainang.
In Hong Kong and china is a great place to get pirated anime, the air quality is poor, Shanghai is really wet and damp a mosquito's paradise. Bring repelent. :amuse

Japan is the place to visit in Asia, Anime, Games, Electronics, mount fuji, toudaiji temple, and Akashi kikyo bridge.

Vancouver and seattle rains alot, bring unbrellas. The lightning strikes downward between the US, canada border. :sweatdrop

Quebec has alot of french port and everyone speck french, I also attended a Jazz festival there.

@staradderdragoon: Yes! ever since the first series Athrun has been my all time favourite but I started to sort of dislike him after a few episodes into GSD, then eveyone started bashing on Shinn so I dicided to take up arms for the side of Shinn, then I started to really like Shinn, but now after seeing Athrun in episode 42 for some reason I started liking him alot more, he just seems so much more real as a character than Kira or Shinn, and with Shinns lack of developing character i think I might switch again, I just need to find some good pics of I-Justice and Athrun in his new flight suit (which is uber cool) to make a new sig and avatar.

I've only been to singapore and japan. In Japan i went to Osaka, Nara, Uji, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Takayama, Tokyo and Matsudo. I went to the gundam museum in matsudo and It had big machanical constucts of the first gundam and the first zaku and how their optical sensors worked, I think this is what got me into Gundam.

and I found Rey's piano piece and it is quite lovely.

And it looks like it's Kira opening his pilot suit, so I guess they actually managed to fend off ZAFT.

But still, my guess is that the wounds from when Shinn stabbed that sword in the Gouf opened up when he was fighting against Shinn and Rey.

Oh god I love this episode. Wow... simply wow...

Episode starts out with Kira continuings his fight with Shinn, and Rey comes to aid Shinn in order to shoot down Kira and Strike Freedom. Kira is getting pushed back more and more, and is bothered by the similarities between Legend and Providence, that they may have some kind of connection with eachother.

Athrun launches in Infinite Justice to help Kira out and stop Shinn from destroying ORB. Murdock contacts Murrue telling her that Athrun with thoes injuries left in that mobile suit. Lacus comes to the bridge and tells them to let him go.

The ORB Murasame units and the DOM's continue to fight against the ZAFT forces while Kira is fighting desperately with Shinn and Rey. Archangel also continues it's battle with Minerva. Then Mwu (Neo) comes to aid a bit. He shoots off a little rocket from the Sky Grasper and blows up that tri-barreled cannon up on the main deck. Then the Sky Grasper gets hit and gets taken in for an emergency landing on the Archangel. As Mwu (Neo) approaches the hangar bay door he has a flashback to when he did that when he was 'Mwu'.

Kira gets pushed back more and more by Shinn and Rey. Legend is actually a very powerful suit beeing able to use the DRAGOONs like that (fold them forward and use them as cannons). Rey creates an opening for Shinn, and when Shinn is just about to shoot off his positron cannon in the back on Stike Freedom, a voice on the radio says: "STOP!" -and a beam boomerang comes flying, then Athrun with Infinite Justice shows up.

Shinn blocks the boomerang with his beamshield and Athrun says: "Stop it, Shinn...!" -and Shinn goes: *GASP* - "Athrun...?" -and has a flashback to when he 'killed' Athrun.

"How...? That's..." -then Athrun says: "Stop this already." - "Have you any idea of what you are trying to do here?" - "In order to stop the war, you attack LOGOS. In order to stop the war, you attack ORB? - "Is that really what you want?" -then some stuff I really didn't get due to poor RAW quality, but he says something like 'is that why you point your blade at ORB?'.

Athrun then says: "Remember Shinn! What you really wanted!"

Then Rey is so filled up with Athrun's bullshit he starts to attack him, saying: Traitor that refuses to die, what are you speaking of so freely!" - "Don't be fooled Shinn!" -then they start fighting. Athrun vs. Shinn, Kira vs. Rey.

Athrun says: "You can't attack ORB...!" -and draws out his beam saber, ready to fend off Shinn if he does attack.

Then we're off to Jona/Yuuna/Juna. Some ORB soldiers are trying to get him into a shelther, but Jona/Yuuna/Juna sees his chance when a Gouf and a couple of Murasame's fly overhead. Jona/Yuuna/Juna makes a run for it, but realizes too late that a Gouf is falling towards him. Jona/Yuuna/Juna is crushed to death under the Gouf.

The fight between Kira and Rey continues.

Athrun says something around the lines of: "Using that anger just fighting is wrong!"

Meanwhile, Djibril is preparing to flee ORB inside the Seirans space shuttle.

Then back to the Athrun vs. Shinn battle. Shinn says that Athrun dosen't know anything, and that he's just a traitor. Shinn attacks Athrun with a beam boomerang. Then he takes out another beam boomerang and throws both at Athrun. Athrun defends one with his beamshield, and kicks away the other one with his Shin (front side of the lower leg, below knee, above ankle) Beam Sabers.

Kira and Rey are still fighting eachother. This time they take up beamsabers to fight close up.

Meanwhile, the Archangel prepares to submerge the ship in order to fight more effectively against the Minerva that is unable to submerge. They shoot off their cannons from underwater and hits the rear part of the Minerva.

The Athrun vs. Shinn fight continues once more. Shinn thinks back on what has been said to him, and what he has done. Shinn gets so angry he goes SEED... but wait! Athrun...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the bad quality picture, but as I said, poor RAW, and in the middle of a frame. Basically, Athrun cuts off Destiny's right arm and it makes a hell of a explotion.

Athrun SEED > Shinn SEED.

Shinn finally tastes the bitterness of defeat. Rey sees what happened to Destiny and goes: "Shinn!". Meanwhile, the Archangel is kicking butt underwater, destroying anything in it's way, submarines, aswell as underwater mobile suits.

Djibril's shuttle then launches. Talia orders Lunamaria to launch and shoot it down. Cagalli orders a Murasame squad to shoot it down too. Lunamaria picks up the chase, but with her very limited skills, she is unable to hit the HUGE space shuttle. Nice job Lunamaria.

Talia then orders all ZAFT forces to retreat. Arthur aboard the Minerva gets surprised. But Talia explains that their objective wasn't to destroy ORB, simply find and kill/capture Djibril, and obviously, he was the one who left in that shuttle headed for space.

Cagalli orders all forces to stand down and not chase after ZAFT. Shinn and Rey retreats back to the Minerva. Athrun makes a *sigh*, and then faints inside Infinite Justice's cockpit. Kira picks him up and lands on the Archangel's deck. Well inside, Kira takes off Athrun his helmet, and sees that he's bleeding all over. Meyrin goes: "Athrun-san!" -Kira tells Murdock to get him a stretcher and some medical supplies.

Back over at the Minerva, Talia is talking to Dullindal about what happened and why they retreated. She explains that she believes that Djibril was aboard that shuttle, eventhough there is no proof. Gilbert says they will investigate things regarding that shuttle 'over here' (Gibraltar).

Then Mwu (Neo) has a little chat with Murrue. He tells him his rank in the EAF, his name, his 'callsign', all information about him. But he feels deep inside that that is not him. He feels that he belongs here (the Archangel) and tells Murrue that he remembers her from somewhere, that he might even know her, no, he is sure he knows her. So he asks if he can stay here with the Archangel. Murrue says he can, and then they hug eachother. Ack... romance, so beautiful... *tear*...

Then Kira and Lacus has a little conversation with Athrun in the infirmary. Kira then asks if he can turn on the TV, because Cagalli is going to have a speech to the world.

She starts the transmission by presenting herself, then who she is adressing this message to. She speaks of how Dullindal's words truely are very comforting and reassuring. That a war without wars and people could live happily would truely be a good place to live. But then... the transmission gets interupted. It's Meer.

She presents herself as Lacus Clyne (whom she cirtainly isn't).

Athrun, Kira, Lacus and Meyrin goes: *GASP* -when they see her on screen. Meer starts talking about how the LOGOS and EAF are to blame for all this, making people suffer, killing children and that ORB was protecting a man governing such actions.

Then Lacus says: "Well Kira, I guess I'll 'reappear' too then."

Kira nods and says: "Yes."

Athrun asks questioning: "Lacus?"

Lacus tells him: "It's alright Athrun. I no longer have any reason to hesitate."

Kira launches together with Lacus in Strike Freedom to the place where Cagalli started her broadcast...

Then Meer's transmission gets interrupted, and everyone on the Minerva goes: "Huh...?" -and then, when the picture comes back....

"Do not be fooled by that persons appearance please."

God, I can't wait for this episode to finish downloading. FINALLY Athrun kicks ass. He is now invited back up into my top 3 favorite characters.

I guess everyone has had their little turn at Shinn now. Kira feeling merciful in the last episode fired the rail guns instead of the chest beam cannon into Destiny, and now Athrun cuts Destiny's arm off. I think it's obvious Shinn will switch sides now, he's finally starting to lose. Once he does, him, Kira, and Athrun can do their own Jet Stream Attack. j/k

Y'know, I find this Athrun pwnage quite a bit hard to stomach. This series has infuriated me with the notion that anyone on AA is invincible unless they need a shiny new suit. Shoot, when it came time to upgrade to S-F, Kira went through TWO SEED suits just because Cagalli was about to get Akatsuki and he was getting S-F.

And now, just because Athrun is back on AA, he finally goes SEED and kicks Destiny's butt. Yeah. Because that's so good for storytelling. Let's make Athrun sit around and do nothing for 43 episodes, but then all of a sudden he remembers how to pilot.

And now Luna apparently gets the treatment of "being a bad pilot". Oh, no, she only has a Destroy kill on her record. Yeah, she's such a bad pilot. Y'know...Athrun or everyone's precious Kira would've missed that shuttle too. Why? Because it is part of the plot that the shuttle escapes.

Glad to see Jona go, but his death puts to end my wanting of the pansy to get a CE update to everyone's favorite UC pansy's(M'Quve) suit: Gyan. Oh, how I longed to see Jona piloting a CE Gyan, and trying to fence Destiny, I-J, or S-F. **Note, I love the Gyan...but when you're built by and piloted by M'Quve you become an easy target.

All in all: GIVE ME MORE DOM TROOPERS. That's about all I'm still watching for.

BTW, don't know about here, but I've been seeing on other message boards and in IRC people really putting down Cagalli as a pilot of the Akatsuki because she didn't completely pwn Destiny. This gets on my nerves and because I found it to be the most realistic battle between an AA pilot and Minerva pilot yet. Akatsuki is two years old. The fact that Cagalli only lost one arm and was still scoring kills on her way to Onogoro after that is a testament to her skills as a pilot(albeit that, like Athrun, she seemed to gain back almost over night. Wow, those two are made for eachother).

This episode was excellent (man the last 4 [except the recap] have been crazy).

Athrun owned while being injured and looks like Rey and Shinn are no match against Kira one on one either. After this episode I wanna see Athrn and IJ do the “Buster Slash” Technique, “Seven Blade Attack” Technique of LIGER ZERO SCHNEIDER from Zoids Zero. Since Athrun seems to have a total 6 beams at his disposal we can call it the "Six Blade Attack", Anyway that would rock if he ever does it.

Anyone agrees that Orb have the most wicked looking ship designs (AA was made from Orb designs also) so flashy. Also it looks like AA's upgrades have far higher then i had suspected. They can shoot from underwater now, that's just crazy. I am sure that after this episode Talia is hoping their next confrontation will be in space cuz had it been only AA vs. Minerva, her ship would be underwater for good. To make the matters worst, we have yet to see AA actually shoot its twin positron blaster cannons. It truly is the powerhouse amongst all ships, even after two years of service.

Lunamaria missed... I agree with NejiHinata that it was a plot line but I would have more appriciated if she had hit and the shuttle being coated with a laminated skin like AA (the reason probably y EA only made 2 of them till date) sustains no damage at all and still runs to space.

Neo = King of hearts, damn man stop making the Muurre suffer and get your memories back.

To end the series we get Dundiel plan pwned by Lacus Clyne apparence. I can see it now, she gonna bash him for atleast 5 minutes in the next episode. Also anyone notice that Yzak, Dearka and Shiho were in the episode? I wonder what's going in Yzak's mind, I am sure he is there to protect Mia incase Dundiel tries to end her service record (Lacus Clyne order's Yzak?).


Anyway, is it me or it looks like we will see some Yzak action in next episode? By the Way do to the damage the battle of Orb has created I am doubtful that the Three ship alliance will have 100 Murasame's with them in the end battle.

Shiho is a MSV character that was part of Yzak's team. She gained so much popularity amongst fans that, by the end of SEED, Fukuda had began to place her in random scenes where you see Yzak's team. She is supposed to be his love interest, but so far that remains to be seen as nothing official has come out about them. Nor has she ever spoken in the two series.

Well if that's true then Duel is also in AA, but I think Buster has been scrapped since it god pretty badly damaged by Providence, but you never though. It might still be there, Imagine Neo using it in a future battle and going "he, this dosn't feel like a suit i piloted" :laugh.

Shiho has yet to talk or kiss Yzak because Fuduka knows if she does then any hope for a Lunamaria fandom dies right on the spot. Shiho > Lunamaria. She is hotter, more skilled and more experienced.

well akatsuki and freedom are more advanced compared to buster and duel... but aile strike rouge and kira did bitch slap a couple of goufs and zakus... plus i really want yzak and dearka back in their GS gundams... no more new gundams... i now have a looooooooong wish list of UC, GS, and GSD models to buy when i get a job after i graduate... i don't want to add another one...:laugh

i think for space, orb will deploy murasames and M1-Bs and possibly M2s but only in small amounts... just like in GS... the 3 ship alliance freedom, justice, akatsuki, strike rouge, dom troopers, gaia, and a few elite orb pilots... short handed in terms of quantity but slaps everybody else's asses in terms of quality... and they are more than enough to wipe out EAF and ZAFT anyway... because fukuda says so...:laugh

True, they're more advanced, but that still doesnt really change things. Look at Freedom at the end of the battle between Province, it was in shere damage. Compare to Duel+Buster, it's relatively safe to say that both the 2 ms shouldnt be an exception. So if Freedom got 100% repaired, why cant Buster and Duel? So it's realistic that they're still well at being.

Beside, no matter how much of a good pilot u r, ur limited based on the ms. For instance, Athrun in a ZAKU and Gouf sux. So if Yzak and Dearka are in those ghouf, their abilities are limited (no ps n etc).

About lunamaria missing that shot.....give her some credit she did more than the other guys did and they were ahead of her. Besides if she had killed that LOGOS guy, Who would dullindal be fighting afterwards? It would kill the story.

as for now Kira and Athrun > Shinn and Rey, but they are lets say in numbers, this is just an example, Kira and Athrun 10/10 while Shinn and Rey are 9/10 but since they are so CLOSE in skill it makes them equal in a fight i mean just ONE number don't matter so much so Shinn and Rey won't be owned every time, they will be more or less equal.

Shinn was also pretty confused and trying to convince himself that he wasn't wrong. That's probably why he couldn't fight Athrun to the best of his abilities. He also wasn't mad that he got beat up pretty badly during that whole ordeal by two people he thought he killed so he definitely has a lot of things on his mind, and he's no longer just thinking like "damn I got defeated, must kill RAWR!" like he usually may think in that situation. Athrun's words got to him, and so will Lacus's in the next episode. Then Rey comes along and once again messes up everything.

Yes, but Kira has evolved past berserker. If you look at Athrun, he still gains more in attack than anything else. That is a trait of a bersker. They gain most of their SEED ability in the attack. Kira has evolved past that to gain most of his SEED ability in other areas that affect his attack, and defense. But Athrun is still primarily and offensive SEED. And so far, from what we've seen, offensive SEEDs are berserkers. So, because Kira has evolved past, he tends to overthink the situation. Hence why Shinn tends to surprise Kira with his attacks when Shinn goes SEED, well...during their first few meetings anyway.

Im surprised at how much stuff they put in this ep.
Athrun owned Shinn not because Shinn was holding back, it was because Shinn underestimated Athrun. All Shinn saw Athrun do in Saviour, at his time in Minerva was transform a lot, run away, and get chopped up pathetically by Freedom when Athrun was suppose to be close to Kira's Level. So basically Shinn never saw it coming. Next time of course Shinn wont make the same mistake.:wink

Dullindal didnt seem surprised when Cap'n Talia mentioned Archangel, Freedom and Justice. I guess Dullindal thought Kira, Athrun, and AA being out of the picture was too good to be true.:S

My fav bit was everyones reaction to the real Lacus, people were going "huh?" one after the other:laugh

What I'm surprised about is how Dullindal finally did something dumb. He sent people specifically to kill Lacus in ORB. He knows by Freedom entering the battlefield and his team wiped out that he obviously failed. Why would it surprise him SO much that Lacus is in ORB? True she could have been in space, but his reaction was more along the lines of "holy crap, I didn't even know she still existed!"

The possibly of Gill being responsible of assasinating Lacus is valid bc Lacus doubts Gill due to her knowledge of GIll's background. As well, the ASH that was deployed (w/ the special force coordinators piloting it) were only available at ZAFT (and recently been out to the military). So essentially, it has Gill all over it.

That's what I've been thinking david! You just read my mind! I DO believe Le Cruset is inside Rey and that he is the mastermind. You must admit that they are genetically the same even without confirmation. Just LOOK at Rey. Same voice character. And, he manipulated Flay, Patrick Zala and Athrun so easily. Rey is doing the same. Masterful I tell you. When I realized Rey and Le Cruset have same voice, and with possibility of cloning, I was convinced that Rey would be evil. Without a doubt. Well now that I saw the episode I don't think it was wrong for Athrun to own Shinn. I mean once is alright however I really believe in the end Shinn will be second best.
But I duno what would be a better battle, Shinn v Kira or Shinn v Athrun. I really want to see both.
But it's probably going to be Shinn v Athrun, because it seems Rey has some vendetta with Freedom lol.

Teh difference between the 2 chairmains (Zala and Gill) is that Gill and Klueeze were considered as friends (Gill supplied Klueeze w/ the pills). And when u apply that, it shudnt be a surprise if Rey and Gill are close as well. Rey has the most respect toward Gill and i dun think he is manipulating him. Gill even takes advices from Rey (casually) as u saw b4 when before Athrun decided to run away.

SO yeah, so what if SF didnt use its funnel? Why spoil it when they can do it like epi 49 or 50?

i think they're not modified... i read somewhere that both configs of ZAKUs (Phatom and Warrior) can use all wizard packs... so a phantom can use a gunner pack and a warrior can use the slash pack...:amuse

That's a really good observation about the flash reactions. But i dont understand why Kira possess that ability. I thought the only reason why Mwu, Klueeze and Rey have those reactions is bc they're blooded related. But why Kira? The only explanation is bc of his newtype ability (talking to the dead *ahem Flay, reaction when releasing SF's funnel and reaction to Mwu).

Anyways, im guessing the reason why Mwu and Rey didnt have any reaction is bc they werent heading to the same direction.

ex) When Klueeze and Yzak were heading to investigate the whereabout of the Orb+Clyne Factor's hideout, Mwu had that reaction that Klueeze was close by.

The funnel battle with Legend and SF in space will be shown prolly near the ending like in Seed with Province IMO. I think GSD's direction is that they show the best for last.

Some people seem to wondering why Gil was surprised as to why Lacus was in Orb.
Remember back in 42 in that conversation between Lacus and Kira:

Out of Destiny, my favorite suit so far would have to be I-Justice. I don't really complain about its color. My friend bought 1/100 HG Aegis and said the plastic was pink so he just painted it over. Otherwise I think the TV versions of Athrun's Gundams haven't been exactly "pink". Saviour however was colored well in the TV. As red as Athrun's Gundams got.

I was kinda expecting the decapitation part. The thing is, beam sabers have the edge of heat sabers when it comes to speed. The comparison goes like this:

Also, when coming to the I-Justice's schamatics, the I-Justice is more manuverable when it comes to dogeing as well as getting into tight spots that the Freedom and Destiny can't, due to their larger backpack moduel's. It because of that, and Athrun going into SEED, that he was able to pull of to what looked like an easy victory. But we see the toll for such quick and advanced movements, that only proves Athrun's ACE status, on the injured pilot's body when Athrun's body is exposed.


But as for character development, once again Rey interupts Athrun's final breakthrough session with Shinn. I mainly place the blame on Kira because he should have taken the oppurtunity to shoot down Legend during the confusion with I-Justice.

Kira came to stop Legend after Legend tried to attack Athrun (during the confusion). After that it was all Shinn and Athrun, and Shinn wasn't trying to listen. That's ridiculous to place blame on Kira when it was really up to Shinn whether or not he wanted to listen to Athrun or Rey, Kira had nothing to do with that. Shinn has a mind of his own. A majority of that time it was just Shinn and Athrun. I know Shinn being manipulated isn't his fault, he doesn't know any better, and all that good stuff. But you don't pat the head of a kid that shoots you in the foot, and say that nothing falls on his shoulders.

I was a bit weirded out about how Kira was distracted almost the entire fight with the appearance of Legend and how it resembled Providence so closely. It's almost as if he thought Rau was still alive. He did overthink that whole situation unless he "felt" Rau (or a very similar presence) inside of Legend, and was trying to rationalize within his mind that what he is seeing/feeling cannot be possible. Then again, when someone is trying to kill you, you best deal with the reality of the situation before anything.

Besides I-Justice, Legend sure is an impressive mobile suit. Its almost on par with Providence in space but on earth Legend wipes Providence off the floor. Legend isnt even nuclear powered, and its not even using the same Hyper Duetrion battery/engine as Destiny. Legend does all that using the same duetrion battery thats used in Impulse, Saviour etc.

That, of course, makes this report hearsay but still of interest as far as possible commentary on the state of Gundam at the moment goes:

The Bandai staff member commented that currently DESTINY as a series is unpopular with ratings on a downward trend (see below for that) and merchandise not selling well including Gunpla (something also mentioned at Plamoya-san's Useless Diary (http://d.hatena.ne.jp/amagi-type97/20050725)). The store owner adds that Bakuseed is outselling Gunpla at his store. The conversation switches to a possible sequel after the customer said "I guess no sequel then. Wanted to see one." The Bandai staff replied that they are currently exploring the idea of another SEED sequel which will again feature Kira and Athrun, concluding a SEED trilogy. The ending of DESTINY will be made so a possibility of sequel can occur. If it were to happen, they won't be doing it until after next year as time slots are all filled up for the 2006-2007 lineup. It is currently set as a trilogy, however more sequels will be made if proven popular.

Ratings are down compared to the first SEED (averaging 5.2% currently), though still better than the 90's Gundams on average (http://aeug.blogspot.com/2004_11_01_aeug_archive.html#110060731014068978). That is a very interesting rumor. I would love a high budget movie (rather than a series) to conclude the SEED storyline with Kira and Athrun. It can sort of be like Char's Counterattack.

Watching Kira disturbed by Legend's presense makes me think that it is foreshadowing something ominous to come. It's not easy to disturb Kira I believe. This may be similar to how Kira had flashes in the presense of Neo before he comfirmed that it was Mwu. So this way Le Cruset could be back =p

On the contrary ssouske, I believe Kira should have been part of the show from the beginning. That would insure initial interest in GSD. As shinn's character become developed, then shinn can take up the role of main character. :headscrat

What happened was exactly the opposite. Kira wasn't there in the beginning and shinn's character is underdeveloped.

So it seems they might create a 3rd C.E. Gundam anime based on the SEED story and characters. But I mean. The war ended once in SEED, and then picked up once more in Destiny after two years of peace (SEED -> Destiny). What will they do now? Have Destiny end in such a way that the war dosen't end, and that the 3rd and final SEED-based C.E. Gundam will finish the war once and for all?

Or will they use the same old concept of: War starts -> War escalates -> War reaches climax -> Main antagonist is defeated -> War ends?

Anyway. It will be very interesting to see how Destiny turns out at the end and how they plan to continue the C.E. Gundam series.

i did not say that kira should not have appeared in GSD... its good for GSD to have kira... but he could have been more like a supporting character unlike now... if they developed shinn's character, kira could have had lesser exposure in GSD... in fact, i think yzak, dearka and shiho could have gotten better screen time if shinn was properly developed... i believe that a different GSD could have been made if they were not fanbased... we could have seen a much more mature shinn now... he, talia, heine, stellar, auel, luna, and the rest of the new characters could have been developed like the main characters in GS... but due to being fanbased, they were robbed of that opportunity... GSD's start was great... although they did another gundams getting stolen thing, the series was starting to go to a good direction... i sensed that the series had more potential if they propperly develop the characters... but since the ratings are not that good, they decided to go fanbased... and ep 13 showed the re-entry of kira... which is good but we saw too much of him through out the series and then eventually, he took the spotlight from shinn... i know im going arround in circles and everything, but i think i conveyed my points properly...:amuse

Just a thought:

These things were never answered and basically completely dropped from GSD. Also GS had so many captivating moments. For example, I think the most famous one would be Freedom protecting the Arcangel in Alaska. Others would include, Yzak shooting the civilian shuttle during re-entry, Cyclops blowing up, Genesis' first shot, Kira and Athrun's fight(AMAZING!), the Kusanagi launching as Orb blew up, Kira killing Nicol, Dearka and Milly getting together(still my fav couple though they broke up), Mwu making a rude comment in the desert, Natarle giving a candy bar to a kid whereas she didnt have enough to go around, the list goes on... GSD had, Junius 7 crash, Impulse defeating Freedom(worst battle in my mind), Jona gets smushed by Gouf. Well maybe its because I've watched GS over and over countless times but GSD just doesn't stand out as much for me. I still enjoy GSD, but GS still tops GSD for me. If done right I hope third GS series could be the best ever. The key word there is "if" and I've learned through GS not to expect much anymore...

Somehow, Destiny is not as captivating as SEED was. But as you said, having seen the whole anime countless times may be the reason you have noticed more things of symbolic value in SEED than Destiny.

i think there are 2 huge factors why people usually do not rewatch GSD... 1 is the story and the underdeveloped characters... the story had potential during the 1st 12-13 eps... but after that, they just threw all that potential into the garbage bin by going fanbased and so focusing on the old characters more and thus the underdeveloped new characters like talia, shinn, luna, gill, rey, the 3 druggies especially TBD's fave Stellar... and usually the episodes were all just about dialogues that tries to develop the story but fails to develop the characters... the other is the overly re-used scenes... i understand why they re-use sceens but damn... we get to see sceens reused 2-3 times in one episode... and every episode that has battles gets sooo repetitive that you do not even know the difference of each battles... we always see impulse or saviour or the windams or the daggers or the zakus do the same things... over and over and over again till we all die... and there are times when scenes from older eps are re-used as a whole... for example... in one ep we see athrun, gilly, and cagalli in minerva's bridge... heck they're not supposed to be there in the carpentaria to gibraltar episodes... and also, they use the same moves but change the MS... like for freedom and justice and S-F and I-J... some of the animations of S-F and I-J are totally recycled anims from GS... so with all those, who in hell would want to watch GSD, now i understand why they get low ratings...
about the WW2 thing: its very common for those things to happen in wars... usually, it is brought by lack of recreational stuff for the soldiers+hatred and vengence for their dead collegues... so the soldiers tend to do crappy+stupid things that normal persons would not do in normal circumstances... things like in WW2... the comfort women(women who are raped by soldiers.... can be gang bang or 1on1)/gays(same thing with women but they are effeminate men... ewwwww!!!:barf ) or that example in afghanistan and iraq...

i think there are 2 huge factors why people usually do not rewatch GSD... 1 is the story and the underdeveloped characters... the story had potential during the 1st 12-13 eps... but after that, they just threw all that potential into the garbage bin by going fanbased and so focusing on the old characters more and thus the underdeveloped new characters like talia, shinn, luna, gill, rey, the 3 druggies especially TBD's fave Stellar... and usually the episodes were all just about dialogues that tries to develop the story but fails to develop the characters... the other is the overly re-used scenes... i understand why they re-use sceens but damn... we get to see sceens reused 2-3 times in one episode... and every episode that has battles gets sooo repetitive that you do not even know the difference of each battles... we always see impulse or saviour or the windams or the daggers or the zakus do the same things... over and over and over again till we all die... and there are times when scenes from older eps are re-used as a whole... for example... in one ep we see athrun, gilly, and cagalli in minerva's bridge... heck they're not supposed to be there in the carpentaria to gibraltar episodes... and also, they use the same moves but change the MS... like for freedom and justice and S-F and I-J... some of the animations of S-F and I-J are totally recycled anims from GS... so with all those, who in hell would want to watch GSD, now i understand why they get low ratings...

Am I the only one who started rewatching Destiny? I stopped at episode 29 or 30 because SEED-Fansubs torrent page was down so I started focusing on the second half of Zeta and watched the last 10 episodes of SEED again.

After rewatching most of it I realized that the series is pretty bad. It's mostly filler with an important episode or two thrown in for good measure. I'm still amazed they actually put 4 clip shows into this series. Also the plot has been all over the place since episode 13. Basically it's Dulindal planning to take over the world. Why he wants to do this is what I want to know. I was impressed by his skills though. He managed to manipulate everybody that wasn't from the original series, excluding Athrun who he had fooled for longer than I care to admit.

But perhaps the worst part is the characters. SEED wasn't that good at development as it seemed the only way someone got real development is when they got a love interest. My biggest problems with the characters where the supposedly main ones. Shinn and Athrun being the main culprits. Shinn just can't seem to overcome his past. I got sick of seeing the flashbacks of his sisters bloody remains on the ground. And his odd attraction to Stellar. I never understood what he really saw in her. And Athrun just did a complete 180 and acted as if SEED never happened. He got back into the same situation he was previously in. It was painful seeing him repeat development all over again.

I'm all for a sequel as of right now because I don't think Destiny will satisfy me. I just hope they go for a longer gap like 5 or so years. I'd like to see it be based of off CCA with Kira vs Athrun, as it seems they really have different views on things. Or maybe like Gundam X where the worst actually happened.

i did try rewatching GSD... and when i say rewatch i mean from ep 1-the current one... it became too borring so i switched back to GS... GS did have its flaws but atleast it is better than GSD...

about the WW2 thing: its very common for those things to happen in wars... usually, it is brought by lack of recreational stuff for the soldiers+hatred and vengence for their dead collegues... so the soldiers tend to do crappy+stupid things that normal persons would not do in normal circumstances... things like in WW2... the comfort women(women who are raped by soldiers.... can be gang bang or 1on1)/gays(same thing with women but they are effeminate men... ewwwww!!!:barf ) or that example in afghanistan and iraq...

As for the war thing, though this probably isn't the thread for it but oh well. Its probably human nature to do these sorts of things during war though we shouldn't. But the thing I go against is trying to wipe it out of history books. The acts the Japanese committed have to be written down no matter what. Not just the Japanese, any culture. Both good and bad things have to be recorded so that we can learn from them.

I noticed that in SEED they almost always reused Calamity, Blitz, and Forbidden shots. I didn't notice it until seeing them take off and in space during the final battle.

That, of course, makes this report hearsay but still of interest as far as possible commentary on the state of Gundam at the moment goes:

The Bandai staff member commented that currently DESTINY as a series is unpopular with ratings on a downward trend (see below for that) and merchandise not selling well including Gunpla (something also mentioned at Plamoya-san's Useless Diary (http://d.hatena.ne.jp/amagi-type97/20050725)). The store owner adds that Bakuseed is outselling Gunpla at his store. The conversation switches to a possible sequel after the customer said "I guess no sequel then. Wanted to see one." The Bandai staff replied that they are currently exploring the idea of another SEED sequel which will again feature Kira and Athrun, concluding a SEED trilogy. The ending of DESTINY will be made so a possibility of sequel can occur. If it were to happen, they won't be doing it until after next year as time slots are all filled up for the 2006-2007 lineup. It is currently set as a trilogy, however more sequels will be made if proven popular.

Ratings are down compared to the first SEED (averaging 5.2% currently), though still better than the 90's Gundams on average (http://aeug.blogspot.com/2004_11_01_aeug_archive.html#110060731014068978). That was just a rumor wasn't it? Only now Bandai is looking to make it a triology. They might use that as the template for the next GS series if they decide to continue. But I'd really hope they would take a new approach to it rather than setting up another noob or ace with a star model and ship. e.g Strike/Arcangel and Impulse/Minerva Overused ideas are no fun. GSD had too many copied ideas from GS. I really hated the scene where Shinn and Stellar shared the night similar to Athrun and Cagalli. Fukuda could've been more innovative. Also where Shinn sneaks out against orders to return Stellar to Neo, much like Kira returning Lacus to Athrun. There probably too many to list... I seriously hated those moments.

Actually when I first watched the GSD trailers one mentioned that GSD would be the final installment of the Seed series. I wished it were three installments and it looks like it might be. Right now I'm just hoping they don't rush and smash up GSD's ending since even though GS had a blunt ending, the GS craze lasted months after its ending. I hope that will happen to GSD. But, Bandai is going to have to do alot more in the future rather than just releasing all the good kits after a series ends.

I want to say one think: I like a lot GSD and GS x'D.

I didn't know GS before I saw 5 chapters of GSD. Then I downloaded the saga of GS and saw it quite fast. Might be it's my problem. I saw 50 chapters of GS in 2 days, when I saw GSD chapter to chapter, but I think GSD is good.

Why do i think you don't like GSD so much like me? Because you though that Fuduka was to develop a history like GS, where all the time we are seeing Athrun, Kira, Lacus and Kagalli. Now we have new characters and they need to be a bit developed too, so there aren't enough time for it and all is worst detailed, but it is a good anime about science-fiction. There are a lot of emotion :).

NOTE: I think too that you're seeing too spoilers. We already know what will happen in the chapter 46 when we haven't see the chapter 44 :S. If you see it before knowning nothing it gets a lot more excited :D

i was reading this fic, cause i was bored. and the writer made an interesting theory, that, in my opinion, could possibly happen.

Exactly 2235 days ago the war ended. But it didn’t end like the war of CE 70. Lord Djibril had retreated to his sanctuary on the moon. Of course, in the name of peace, we pursued him there, in order to finish what the Chairman started. In a final act of desperation he used his last resort, the Requiem Cannon. He annihilated half of the fleet, including the Minerva and the Archangel, with the first shot. Djibril could’ve easily finished us off, but like any crazed fanatic he thought himself invincible. He ignored us, and proceeded to use the Cannon to destroy half of the PLANTs before finishing us off. The funny thing is he was invincible. He had borrowed, and improved upon, an idea from Patrick Zala and used some sort of improved Phase Shift Armour to protect the thing.

If it had ended then I would’ve counted myself lucky. Unfortunately, several rogue elements of Logos, and Blue Cosmos continued fighting on, “For a Pure and Blue World.” They harassed us with hit and run attacks for a month before the Chairman formulated a new plan.

It was simple. A ZAFT Special Forces team was to seize control of the GENESIS Alpha site that had been entrusted to the Junk Guild, and forcibly evict the junkers. Said Team would then threaten to fire the cannon in the direction of Earth, if the remaining Logos forces didn’t cease their attacks. Never mind the fact that the thing wasn’t even wired to do that. We were the Coordinaters, we could rewire it. Such arrogance.

In either case, the Logos forces stepped down soon afterwards. Unfortunately the Special Forces team went rogue, and decided to fire the cannon regardless. I guess they were still angry over the fact that over a full quarter of the Coordinater population died only a month ago. The Logos forces didn’t take that lying down, and they attacked us.

Of course we were ordered to defend GENESIS Alpha, it was the only way we could strong arm Logos into surrendering again. And like the diligent soldier I was, I did just that. Of course I had my misgivings, the lunatics that had control of the cannon were going to use it annihilate all life on Earth. Only they couldn’t, I’m not sure why, but I think the Junkers had managed to sabotage the cannon before they were so unceremoniously given the boot. With only one recourse left, the Special Forces team decided to plow GENESIS Alpha into the Earth.

I don’t know how or when I realized it, but somehow I came to the conclusion that this was wrong. Wow Shinn, great realization there. I tried to stop it. Using my FAITH authority, I cleared myself a path to the cannon. Luna, loyal to the end followed me there, intent on covering my flank. Through some twist of fate, the very last opponent I would ever face in mobile suit combat, wasn’t some faceless Logos soldier, or the Freedom, but my best friend.

Rey loyal to the very end, to the Chairman that is, was intent on protecting the canon even if he had to fight me to do it. I fought him, and destroyed most of his DRAGOONs,and came close to rendering the Legend inoperable. Of course I took too long doing it. By the time I glanced at GENESIS Alpha, it was almost too late. Leaving Luna behind to cover my back, I flew to intercept the falling super weapon. Even with Destiny’s speed, I barely made it in time.

now, i know what most of you are thinking, that if it was anywhere near realistic kira/athrun/cagalli/lacus would have taken a part in the story. i realize that, and i dont want to hear that statement. what im trying to say is that, now that i think about it, i could see Rey and Shinn fight at the end. Rey being as loyal to gilbert and all. if someone already stated that in an earlier post....oh well.

of course thats only IF shinn realizes his faults and IF there is some big scheeme Dullindal pulls at the last min. So i hope no one lunges at me for this theory, saying how wrong i am :wink

Then flip it ~5 years during with the situation is stable but total peace is not achieved and Athrun really get's frustrated ad decideds to take his father's ideals (basically he comes Char of CCA). So he gives up hope for a peace between the both kind and directs his anger towards Earth.

Meanwhile, Kira realizes that Athrun has lost all hope and trys to pull a last effort on bringing back to his sense. The two end fighting and well both die and the series ends with that, kinda like CCA but without the both main characters dieing because of Newtype power overflow...

Umm for the fic, its good but I don't see both the Minerva and Arcangel blowing up anytime soon... Fans will be too angry for sure and Fukuda should be smart enough to know that. As for Shinn realizing the truth and deciding to fight against Rey and the Chariman. Highly likely in my opinion. As for mixing into Astray, that would be cool! But chances of it happening are probably zero. All we saw in GS was the Home One. That was just barely.

Guess that translation rumor posted earlier by someone might be true? The one with the "Slash Gundam"? I still prefer GS to GSD, I mean GSD has its nice points but GS in my mind had so much more. At the end of GS there were so many unanswered questions like what was the deal with the flying whale? Also remember Patrick Zala talking about something wrong with 3rd, 4th and future generations of Coordinators? SEED mode could have used some more explaining. These things were never answered and basically completely dropped from GSD.

Whale: It gave inspiration to the development of coordinator. WHen you look at it, it looks like a whale, but with different features (wings). Hence forth, it resulted that one body can go beyond further. So from a natural, it has the potential to go beyond and u result in coordinator.

Generation: Kira is first generation (naturalxnaturals=parents), 2nd gen (coordxcoord), n etc. So it just means that there are decreasing percentage of 3rd n 4th gen.

The only thing i got to agree is the seed mode. They couldve done more explanation about it. Especially about that blind guy, and all he said is "Kira, u have the seed" and doesnt elaborate on it. So that pissed me off

Well we already know that discarding weapons doesn't solve war... Look at Gundam Wing, what did pacifism ever do? I'm not sure what GSD's ending will be like, but like Andy said in GS: "Naturals will always envy coordinators and coordinators will always look down on naturals" As long as that difference exists, I sincerely doubt war will end. I can only hope they don't go along the path of Evangelion(tv series and movie). Its possible since they already adopted a lot of concepts from Evangelion. Batteries, cords connected to the MS as it launches. Not to mention a lot of the VAs did prior work on Evangelion. Fukuda seemed to have drawn a lot of concept from many different anime series.

Edit: Thanks JH1stgen. They never really gave an explanation for the whale. Only Patrick talked a little about it and Andy expanded a little again. Too bad we haven't seen it in GSD. As for the future generations of coordinators, wouldn't it still be a problem? It's only been 2 years, I don't think an issue like that would've been dropped just suddenly.

There will always be conflict. Humans may be highly developed primates, but we are only that developed. There will always be conflict. As long as people have a free will to think what they like to think, and say what they like to say, there will be disagreements and arguments that might turn into conflict.

I do prefer GS to GSD, but its not like I didnt like GSD. I still love it and even though there hasnt been much stuff in it, I still have faith that it will have a good ending. Anyways im the kind of guy that likes almost every anime I watch :P .

i recomend deleting some frames in your animations... it will reduce your image size and it will make your gifs faster... because i don't know about the others but the images go very slow on my PC... other than that, great job!:wink

Indeed but Kira and especially Lacus must have employed some of these methods, otherwise I don't think they would have had so much success.

SEED/DESTINY follow-up rumors
Again take this with a grain of salt.
The following blog has a report/dialog between a customer, store owner, and a Bandai staff member during a Bakuseed (miniature electric motor car) tournament. That, of course, makes this report hearsay but still of interest as far as possible commentary on the state of Gundam at the moment goes:

The Bandai staff member commented that currently DESTINY as a series is unpopular with ratings on a downward trend (see below for that) and merchandise not selling well including Gunpla (something also mentioned at Plamoya-san's Useless Diary). The store owner adds that Bakuseed is outselling Gunpla at his store. The conversation switches to a possible sequel after the customer said "I guess no sequel then. Wanted to see one." The Bandai staff replied that they are currently exploring the idea of another SEED sequel which will again feature Kira and Athrun, concluding a SEED trilogy. The ending of DESTINY will be made so a possibility of sequel can occur. If it were to happen, they won't be doing it until after next year as time slots are all filled up for the 2006-2007 lineup. It is currently set as trilogy, however more sequels will be made if proven popular.

Ratings are down compared to the first SEED (averaging 5.2% currently), though still better than the 90's Gundams on average. But from another perspective, things look worse when you compare it to the numbers for past MBS shows in the same timeslot (righthand column figures) as DESTINY will have to fight uphill to not wind up with the lowest average ratings.

Hmm, regarding the low ratings. I don't think the ratings will matter that much seeing that the DVD sales are doing quite good and this is a better measurement whether a series is popular or not.
