I've read them all. Just really cool books. The plot and the characters are very well written. And Artemis is really an evil little kid.

Yep there's one more new one that's come out. I've read all four and the fourth one is probably the final final one.. which is sad cause it's a good series...

Artemis Fowl is amazing. I love the brain Artemis has. Where did Colfer get his great ideas. I heard that there is going to be a movie but this news was from like 1 year agon and I haven't seen anything. Can someone clarify that?

I just recently finished Artemis Fowl and the Opal Deception! I hope that there will be a fifth one...:darn
I heard about the movie too, and this paragraph was from the year 2004:
Friday 13th February 2004: Artemis Fowl Update:
The big screen adaptation of the Harry Potter rivalling Artemis Fowl has been postponed. The movie was being developed with a summer filming schedule of this summer having already been inked in. The reason? Exchange Rates. The movie was going to be filmed in Ireland this summer, but because the Euro to the Dollar has changed by nearly 20% in value it's caused production costs to soar. No word yet if Miramax are planning on taking the production to another country. But this must be a hammer blow to the Irish film community. This is not the only production thought to have pulled out of filming in Ireland this summer with several other major productions either contemplating pulling out or have pulled out already.

The Artemis Fowl books are some of my favorite books EVER. I love them because he's Irish. And most of my background is Irish. And because they're magic.
My mom thought that after The Eternity Code there wouldn't be anymore. I thought there would be. And I was right. And I was happy. The Opal Deception was better than anything I could have imagined. It made me cry. To the max. I want another one.

i love Artemis Fowl, even more than HP at this point, Colfer being a genius as opposed to JK who i think lost her mind during book 6.

I'm too ashamed to walk into a bookstore and buy the book. The book is in the 'children' section, and I can't come up with a good excuses for buying the book. It might be because 1 of my good friends works there.
I'm going to try and find the e-book version of this. I've read most of the responses here, and it seems like a great series.

yeah, most likely, you would.
it's an interesting mixture of high fantasy & high technology, with rapis-fire dialogue and complicated well-thought out plotline.
is about Artemis Fowl, a 12 year old crinimal mastermind genius & his schemes to restore his family's glory. in the first book, he comes across a fairy, Holly & plans to hold her for ransom, but as it turns out that she works for the LEP - lower elements police & it pretty much takes off from there . . .

I'm giving this thread a much needed bump in lieu of the fact that there's a new book coming out in 19 days. XD
I just found that out today.
Check it out:

I'm very excited. I thought he'd actually end it after the fourth book, since that actually acted as an ending, as opposed to The Eternity Code, which left so many things open-ended that it was kind of obvious there'd be another one.

I wouldn't worry too much about what section a book is sold in. You would not believe the number of college educated people who read children's books. Most of which, don't even have children. :nod

Artemis Fowl is brilliant... I've still to get the fouth though. I might get it sometime this summer, and 'Lost Colony' with it. Fortunately, it's not been put that far into the children section that I can't pretend I'm browsing the teenage section :amuse

I really thought that Artemis Fowl went down after the second book, by the end of the Eternity Code Artemis had lost the ruthlessness, wit and efficiency that had drawn me to the character in the first place. after that I never bothered reading the Opal deception.

Haven't read anything of this but I'm wondering if I should get something like this for my younger sisters. But after Twilight... God only knows Artemis Fowl would be an improvement at any rate. (Or so I hope.) I think I might give them a look through myself.

Artemis Fowl is an excellent series that can be enjoyed by teens and adults alike. I have found in some book stores it tends to wind up both in the teen section and the adult section.
Here's the complete title list for the Artemis Fowl series for those who may have missed the latest:
Artemis Fowl (1)
Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident
Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code
Artemis Fowl: The Opal Deception
Artemis Fowl: The Lost Colony
Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox (note: if you ship Artemis/Holly you will LOVE this book)
There is also another book, not quite part of the series but supplemental. It's called The Artemis Fowl Files. It contains a mini-adventure, some interviews with the characters, and other interesting "activities." There is also an Artemis Fowl graphic novel based on the first book. If you ever wanted to know what the whole gang looks like, this book is for you. It's not half bad.

I wish Wal-Mart still sold these books, I recently got into it. I already have book two (they didn't have book one when mom bought book two about two years back)), so now I'm having to resort to reading the books online.

I attempted to read The Arctic Incident years ago, and struggled through two chapters. Can't for the life of me remember why I didn't like it, maybe something to do with the fact I started with the second book, but I couldn't get in to it at all. I think it's still on my bookshelf somewhere actually...

These books are a guilty pleasure of mine; I have a thing for the genius characters who have everything planned out, and are effectively playing a grand scale version of chess with the other characters. The writing is fairly standard, if often amusing; the plots are generally straight-forward; the characters range from bland to incredibly amusing (to me), and I've always had a soft spot for characters like Artemis. The actual setting is fairly unique; I've never read anything quite of the same mind frame.
They're definitely good for younger children, but I enjoyed them as well.

This series is what made me love the Anti-Hero archetype, and the transformation from a horrible character to a likeable one.
I've only read up to the one with the Demons, the 5th, I believe.

I read these when I worked at the library, though I think I may have missed one or two. Will definitely go back and check them out.
Does anyone know if Time Paradox is the last one? I´m really worried about that...

I don't think it is, but who knows? Each book has looked like the last and hasn't been, so maybe..... :zaru
No, it isn't. I don't know if it's been confirmed, but if you've read The Time Paradox, you'll know it isn't. Quite the ending cliffhanger.
