Man, am I the only one that feels sorta desperate hearing this song. One of the Stones best (the best in my opinion). What an intense song! It's one of the ones that make me cry.

Sorry, this is indeed a lame excuse for a thread.

Well, it is an awesome song. ;) I have several versions too. From a band called Gob, and also a U2 version.

Anvil has done my favorite version of that song... But so many bands has covered that song, it's almost ridiculous.

Damn, I've never heard a cover of it. I guess I should look for one. Maybe I'd like them better still. I don't know how you can improve on it in my opinion, but maybe someone did something different but equally as good.

That is one of my favorite Stones songs, along with Wild Horses and Tumbling Dice.

Paint It Black rates up there as one of my favourite "film credits" songs (Full Metal Jacket, worth watching for Sergeant Hartman alone :smile-big). I've heard my share of covers, but my personal favourite is Tea Party's take. Love probably immensely boosted by having had the privilege of seeing Jeff Martin blazing it out live :faint

Yeah, I listened to it blaring on repeat for like three straight hours the night I made this thread. I had it loud enough so that I could make it out in the shower down the hall when I took a shower. Great song to sing along to in the dark/wetness.

Paint it Black is my all time favorite stones song....I will listen to that song on repeat for hours sometimes since it is that great of a song. I've heard many covers...but nothing compares to the original for me. Mick Jagger's vocals on that track is what makes it awesome and the entire song in general is great....:laugh. I loved how it was also the theme song to Twisted Metal: Black. I love that song.

Definitely my favorite Stones song along with Sympathy for the Devil. I love anything that I've seen with that song in it. Twisted Metal: Black, FMJ, everything.

Rolling Stones were here in California a few weeks ago and I missed them damnit...

Evangelion AMV set to the Judas Priest cover of Paint it Black.

...

Amazing. It conveys the emotion of the song perfectly. Even if you know nothing about Evangelion, you'll feel the character's pain and torment. Great watch for anyone.

Stones version is still better, imo, but a good cover none the less.

Oh.... Thread necromancy.

I opened this thread to talk about the Tea Party's awesome cover. And here, I don't have to. ^_^

I don't like the Stones enough to feel bad about preferring a cover of their classic song.
