It's a pretty common characterization theme in manga for the hero to have an inner representation of another aspect of his personality. So the question is, where has it been done best.
For me it's between:

The Little Black Blood Demon from Soul Eater.
For one I fucking love his design. And I like the fact that he's an evil bastard who's purpose is solely to antagonize, and tempt Soul with power.

The Black Dog
He adds major conflict to one of my favorite characters in manga. And is playing a very important role in one of my favorite stories. It seemed near impossible to add more dimension to Gutt's character, but, Miura did it.
