So far, they were tied, Deidara having caught up when he dubbed Orochimaru as ‘pasty.’ Sasori had actually laughed at that- a soft, tinkling noise like a resonating wind chime… He imagined how a battle for finding the right word describing Sasori’s voice would play out… ‘Unchanging’ Sasori would say… Deidara would instantly shoot ‘fleeting’ at him… Sasori would get irritated and consequently snap ‘wise,’ and he would snort, flashing his white teeth triumphantly, and lean into Sasori as if telling him a secret… ‘Dated’ he would say, because Sasori would use the oldest puns and exclamations that Deidara had ever had the great displeasure to hear.
‘Part of Danna’s charm…’ he thought, and twitched a little with amusement.
“Damn it, Brat! Hold still!” Kakuzu growled. Deidara huffed but did not reply.
“Geez, Deidara-san! That must hurt!” a sickeningly cheerful voice emanated from a blindingly bright mask… ‘Alliteration suits the idiot well,’ Deidara mused, watching his Danna’s ring spin between the dark figure’s limber fingers, a stab of anger rushing through him.
Oh, yes… ‘Pissed’ was definitely the right word.
“… Done…” the Takigakure grunted and stood. “Your turn, Hidan.”
“Hoorah-dee-fucking-dah…”
Kakuzu stomped away even as Hidan knelt and clasped his hands around his prayer beads. Deidara found it ironic that the metal pendant was flecked with dried blood. “Did our fight with the Kazekage-chan’s cute little would-be rescuers interrupt something?”
Hidan chuckled and grinned at the blonde, revealing bloodstained teeth. It was something of a joke between them to refer to everyone with the horribly cute suffix, but Hidan had to admit that the frail Jinchuuriki they’d just murdered probably deserved it… “Kuzu-chan is being a whiny bitch ‘cause we were after some of those walking goldmines he gets all giddy over when Mr. High and Mighty told us to back you up.” Deidara let out a soft gasp as pain exploded in his arms. Normally, he appreciated explosions for their fleeting loveliness, but there was nothing artistic about feeling like your arms were pumping lava through your veins… but by the widening of Hidan’s smile, he knew the masochist would beg to differ. “Hurts much, fuck toy?”
“Look who’s talking, un,” Deidara murmured, glancing at Kakuzu. “At least my danna’s not just dead flesh sewn together, un.”
Hidan’s sneering expression morphed into a visage of rage, his violet eyes glinting with malice. “Say that again, you fucking heathen, and I swear to Jashin I’ll rip you limb from limb and tell Leader-teme we were too late to save your sorry ass!”
… Oops… he’d hit a sensitive spot. Normally the two of them got along rather well, but Deidara was pissed, after all, and Tobi still played with his Danna’s ring. “Sasori-danna wouldn’t like that at all, un…” Deidara whispered. “You’re not the only immortal in the Akatsuki.”
“Speaking of whom, Deidara-san, where is Sasori-sama?” Deidara heard a frown in Tobi’s words. Well, he couldn’t blame the guy. Tobi had served the Akatsuki for years, even before Itachi… Zetsu, Sasori, Kakuzu, Kisame, Leader-sama, and Konan-chan were like family to him. “We couldn’t find a puppet with his… chakra container… in the cave. But there were a lot of them…”
“Zetsu will find him, un…” but the artist sighed. It was a valid question. All Tobi and Zetsu had found was an empty shell pinned to a cavern wall, and they took the ring from it… What the Hell was taking his Danna so long? Sasori was insanely powerful- Deidara couldn’t see the hag and the anorexic bitch defeating him… not only that, but like all shinobi, Sasori was a master of deception with a poker face that most people could only dream of. Deidara assumed that the doll maker faked death in order to rendezvous with him and support him; Sasori did have access to more of his clay, after all, and it wouldn’t be the first time that Sasori had used his invulnerability to trick his enemies while on mission.
… So where was he?
“I’m finished, dickhead.” Hidan slapped him upside the head lightly. “Now we wait for your nerves and shit to reconnect.”
“Praise the Lord.” Deidara rolled his visible eye.
Hidan made as if to throttle him, but Tobi hopped between the two, his hands raised. “B-but Deidara-san, what if Zetsu-san doesn’t find him?”
The others stared at him.
“… Zetsu-san is very good at finding things, but even he can make mistakes!” Tobi drew himself up defensively, but Deidara shrugged, wincing as he did so.
“If Zetsu can’t find him, I will, un,” he answered firmly.
“Hidan! Get your ass moving!” Kakuzu was already leaving, and he called back without turning around.
“Good luck finding the walking tree stump,” Hidan muttered, turning and jogging after his partner.
“So, Deidara-san- if Sasori-sama is dead, can I keep his ring?”
“... What?”
“… Ehm… I said-“
Deidara leaped to his feet, his electric blue eye crackling with anger. “Sasori no Danna is not dead,” he hissed, and grim satisfaction swept over him as he saw Tobi wince.
“B-but what if-“
“He’s. Not. Dead. Un.” Deidara hissed. “Now go to the base in southern Suna and wait for us.”
Tobi bowed his head obediently. “Yes, Deidara-san. Moushiwake arimasen.”
The tension fell from his shoulders immediately, and he sighed again. “It’s… all right, Tobi, un. I should be the one apologizing…” His right eye filled unexpectedly, and he sniffed and turned away in a vain attempt to save his pride. “Just… being an ass,” he muttered.
“… Shall I go, then, Deidara-san?” He saw Tobi shift uncomfortably in his peripheral vision.
“Go on, un… be careful with the ring.” and Tobi rushed off. Deidara shook his head, his bangs bouncing around his face, and sat back on the springy grass.
As he waited for Zetsu to return with news- or with Sasori- Deidara couldn’t help but notice that ‘pissed’ was not the right word…
“Being silly, un…” he croaked, a renegade tear slinking down his face to hang onto his chin and finally drop onto his lap. He would have wiped it away, but the ‘nerves and shit’ in his mangled arms hadn’t finished healing, though Kakuzu’s stitches were nice and neat, and Hidan had blessed him in a most uncharacteristically kind gesture- but maybe Hidan was still hoping to convert him.
Pissed was not the right word. He was not pissed.
He was terrified.

“et…off…”
Something slender and hard jabbed Deidara’s back, and his eyes snapped open. “’Sori-danna… don’ poke me, un…”
“We are Zetsu…” a disembodied voice said, “and you are lying on us.”
“Nani?” Deidara looked down, and his blue eye met a blank, yellow orb sticking out of the ground.
“Get off of us…”
Deidara scooted to one side, and Tobi’s sensei slipped out of the ground to tower above the blonde, his eyes gleaming against his skin. Deidara flushed a little. “Gomen, Zetsu no Danna…”
Jinchuuriki. Sharingan. Arms. Kyuubi. Sasori.
“Zetsu, where is Sasori-danna, un?” he asked, rising to his feet. The pain in his arms had receded and was now little more than a dull ache around his joints. He flexed his fingers experimentally and turned his hands over to see both mouths smiling at him. “Did you find him?”
“We could not find him,” Zetsu admitted. “He was not putting any effort into our search… well, what was the point of looking? He’s probably hiding from the enemy… you could have at least helped…”
“Ah… how far did you search?” Deidara kept looking at his hands. One of his mouths stuck its tongue out at him affectionately, and he returned the gesture.
“A circular range from the base with a 1600 meter radius…” the spy’s leafy appendages shivered, as if Zetsu had just shrugged.
“… He can’t have gone far…” Deidara commented, eyeing his happy tongues amusedly; they were now waving at each other with enthusiasm, as if wanting to kiss. “Looks like I’ll have to find him, then… un…” With that, he stalked off, heading towards the cave where he’d parted ways with Sasori.
“We would help you… but we are rather full, and it makes us sleepy…”
“Don’t worry about it, un,” the artist replied, waving to Zetsu without turning around. He felt Zetsu’s chakra flare as he walked, indicating that the Grass traitor had slipped back into the ground.




Deidara froze. He was on the cliff overlooking what had once been a cave, but was now nothing more than a wound in the Earth, slowly filling up with river water. Bodies were strewn throughout the area, and Deidara realized with shock, that they were his Danna’s puppets, every single one of them.
His life’s work, his art, broken and drowning in the water.
“Sasori no Danna!” he called, sprinting down the cliff side, his hair flying wildly, “Sasori-danna!”
There was no reply, but he hadn’t really expected one.
He slid onto the water and padded across to the watery bank where he’d sat on the pretty Jinchuuriki, the one Sasori no Danna wanted for his new experiment.
‘Well, so much for that,’ he chuckled inwardly. ‘We can always find someone else that pretty and talented… perhaps from one of the weaker nations…’
“Sasori-danna?” he said, listening as his voice bounced off the cavernous walls and faded into the late evening sky.
And eerie quiet fell about the area. He assumed the noise of the battle had frightened all the animals off.
“… Where the Hell are you, damn it…” he grumbled, pulling out a scroll.
Some time ago, Sasori and Deidara had been forced to abort a mission when Deidara was nearly sliced in two by some second-rate Tsuchi assassin who got lucky. His luck ran out when Sasori uncorked a vial of some terrible poison and broke it over the bastard’s head. Deidara had never seen anything so horrifically fascinating as the poison- or whatever it was- spread all over the man’s skin and slowly ate it away, leaving his flesh bare to the winds. After Sasori managed to piece ‘Brat’ back together, he decided that they needed to prepare for an instance in which one of them perished or was incapacitated in some way. They needed to be able to take care of or dispose of each other’s belongings- or more specifically, their art.
Sasori had given him these scrolls with which to put away his puppets, should he be unable to do so for whatever reason, and it looked like he’d been forced to abandon his beloved art, because Sasori would never have willingly let them lie out and exposed, vulnerable against thieves and the elements.
“What a mess…” the terrorist eyed the broken puppets mournfully. “Danna’s going to be pissed, un…” He flipped the scroll up, unfurling it as he did so, and absently made a few seals. “Hyakki no Soen- Butaiosaru!” he ordered.
Ninety nine puppets, many of them in pieces, lifted themselves up and vanished into the scroll with soft whooshing noises. They were gone in an instant, and the scroll fell into Deidara’s waiting hand. He tucked it into his tattered and bloody cloak, scanning the cave floor.
There was Hiruko, smashed to pieces to his right… and there was the Sandaime Kazekage, his proud mane of black hair soaked with water and lifeless sand and iron grains… on the far wall was Sasori’s trapped body, an empty shell. He pulled out three more scrolls, each made for these three puppets.
First was the Kage; he called it into the scroll, and scrambled back in shock as both the puppet and several tons of iron and sand came rushing at him. Of course. The sand. How stupid of him to forget. Sasori would have a place for that, too, the cocky git.
As the last bits of sand slithered into the scroll, he started unraveling the one for poor, hideous Hiruko. He’d never liked the battered, scowling thing, but to see it sodden and in a dozen pieces on the ground was unsettling. With another flick of his wrist and the command of, “Butaiosaru, Hiruko!” and the puppet vanished into the paper.
“… Now, then…” he strode over to the puppet pinned to the wall. “How do I get you down, un? Ah, well, you’ll come when the audience cheers, won’t you, danna? You never could resist a curtain call…” He opened the final scroll, threw it into the sky, put his hands together, and cried, “Butaiosaru, Kaigara!”
Sasori’s most beloved work of art fell to pieces and slipped underneath the tanuki head that bound it to the wall, then reformed and drifted upwards to the dancing runes painstakingly painted by it’s creator. Deidara choked in disbelief as the puppet turned around and bowed to some invisible audience that only its empty eye sockets could perceive, then slid backwards and disappeared.
“You show-off… un…” the blonde snickered, then straightened up a little. It was getting quite dark. If he didn’t find Sasori soon, it would be too dark to search. “Are you sure you’re not around here, Sasori no Danna?” he shouted. “Clearly your presence is as transient as my art, un!”
As before, Sasori did not reply, did not growl, ‘stupid brat’ under his breath, did not tug on his hair.
“… You just have to make things difficult for me, un…” He whirled about, cloak swishing, and began making his way out of the cave that was no longer a cave…
Until he tripped on some loose debris and fell with a splat into the murky water.
“D-damn it! What the Hell, un?!” he sputtered, the mouths on his palms also spitting out the gravely muck.
“… Dei?”
The Iwagakure criminal stiffened instantly, his eye darting around. Had some Suna shinobi remained behind to see if he’d return? It wasn’t until he realized that the voice was much closer that he looked down.
And saw Sasori, his head bobbing in and out of the sludge.
“Gah! Danna, what the Hell are you doing lying here, un?!” Without ceremony, he plunged his hands back into the water, looping his arms under Sasori’s and dragging him to higher ground.
“… I can’t… move…” the doll maker whispered. “Tried to… tell you… c-couldn’t hear…”
Deidara frowned. “What the Hell… why are you talking like a…” but it was then that he saw them; two clean punctures through Sasori’s soul keep. Blood and poison trickled from the wounds, as if they had been bleeding for hours.
They probably had.
“S-Sasori no Danna?” His hand reached out to touch the edges of the keep, now long since breached and conquered. “Are you dying?”
“Gomen nasai, Dei-chan,” Sasori’s melodic voice could barely be heard above the creak of wood. “Saved enough chakra to tell… K-kyogen…”
“Oh, well, that’s all right, un,” Deidara shook his head fiercely, his eye screwed shut at the terrible high octave his voice had miraculously attained. “This just proves me right, nay, Sasori-danna?”
A smile fluttered across Sasori’s impassive face. “It was a wond-drous ningyoussshhibai. You would have lik-ked it, Brat…”
“A momentous final act,” Deidara agreed.
“Wondrous…” Sasori’s eyes flicked up to look at him, and that strained smile returned, “Ai-shi…teh… my Brat.” He sighed.
My Brat. Leave it to Sasori no Danna. To die with words you had spoken a hundred hundred times on your lips.
My Brat.
Deidara’s scream of anguish rent through the night, but there was no one to hear it.

Gods, he was still so innocent.

Sasori stared at his robe-clad partner, who stared in wonder at the view of Suna’s skies. Knowing Deidara’d love this show, Sasori was surprised to learn the blonde had never even heard of the festival. Sasori avoided these celebrations while still a member of Suna, but this once-a-year show could be missed by no one.

Deidara had never seen anything so… so… beautiful!

Fireworks burst across the skies of the desert.

The huge, clear sky was the perfect setting. The air was perfect, too. Life had been weighing on him all day, but then Sasori brought him here! Shattering bangs rippled the air, melting away Deidara’s stress from their recent mission. Deidara was home.

The pair rested on a cliff overlooking Suna several hundred meters away. Their high-up view only added to Deidara’s exhilaration. “Tha … that’s amazing,” Deidara whispered.

Leaning back, the s-class nins enjoyed the show.

Such an art form! Deidara had seen lesser firework acts, of course, but like this! This was as great as, no, better than, blowing up an entire village – and he didn’t have to do anything! The colors… they were brilliant!

Deidara didn’t even realize he was smiling wide – not smirking, smiling – until he had to breathe. He didn’t realize he’d been holding his breath either.

Sasori was smiling, too – not at the show, of course. He hated this show. But Deidara looked so happy. He never smiled like that at headquarters.

Through Deidara, Sasori was at home, too.

‘The fireworks cover up the stars,’ the blonde mused absently. ‘Hmmm… the stars are probably what Sasori thinks are beautiful in this scene.’

Deidara glanced back at his partner, surprised to see him smiling. “This show’s for you… watch,” the redhead commanded quietly. Deidara blushed as he realized he’d been staring. He obliged, asking, “Sasori-danna, why are you here?”

Sasori stared at the back of his partner’s head for a moment. ‘Oh gods, I hope he’s not going to get insecure on my ass again…’

“What are you talking about?”

“Well, I mean… you must hate this show. Everything in it is … fleeting.” On the last word Deidara turned to face his partner again. His curiosity had overcome his wonder for the fireworks.

“True.”

Sasori smirked at his confused partner. His blonde had such a short attention span. Sasori crawled over next to Deidara. “But it makes you smile. So watch.”

Deidara didn’t. He openly stared at his partner. Who’d replaced Sasori? Favors were not in the Akatsuki Code of Conduct – which his partner strictly adhered to.

This beauty was completely for him.

“I love you so much…” Deidara whispered against Sasori’s lips. Lights and sounds from the show happening below faded.

Between the fleeting passion of their kisses, and the forever-promise of their love, Deidara and Sasori were completely at home.

Sasori hated cuddling, he'd rather go through a woodchipper than cuddle. Honestly, S-ranked criminals didn't cuddle, it just didn't work that way, it was absolutely, positively, insane.

...So why in the name of Hidans' godforsaken rituals was he laying next to his blonde lover, his arms wrapped protectively around him, with a look on his face that practically screamed 'if you so much as think of touching him, I'll feed your ass to Zetsu so fast, you won't even have time to notice yourself being digested.'?

Oh right, because the second thing he hated more than cuddling, was watching Deidara cry, which wasn't often. But when he did, it was normally late at night, possibly during mid-morning, due to a nightmare that to this very day, Sasori couldn't get him too explain. But for some reason, whenever the blonde had nightmares, he would get...Well, cuddly to put it simply.

It annoyed Sasori greatly, it really did. First, Deidara would just simply scooch closer to him, his hands reaching up to clutch slightly at the nightshirt he was wearing, burying his face into it. Sasori would simply ignore it, give him a slight growl of warning, before trying to drift back off to sleep. A few seconds later, a whimper would escape the blondes throat, and Sasori could slowly feel himself cave.

And then he'd count down.

Five.
Four.
Three.
Two.
One.

Then the waterworks would start.

...Actually, it only took about a good half a second and one tear to roll down the blondes cheek, and Sasori was immediatly pulling him into his arms like a mother would her child. He looked down at him as the blonde buried his face into the red-haired mans chest.

...But what Sasori couldn't see, was while Deidara was hiding in the safety of his chest, was that he was grinning. Widely. He'd let out a fake, shaky sigh, pretending to wipe away tears that really weren't there, and seeing as though it was dark, he got away with it every time. He sniffled, curling up tightly against Sasori as he allowed his eyes to slowly close. Sasori would run his hand gently through his hair, whispering soft words of comfort into his ear, relaxing Deidara further. Once the blonde was asleep, he would always think about pulling his arms away, and curling up on his side of the bed again, but he could never bring himself to do so.

Damn, Deidara had him wrapped around his finger.

He always found it interesting that he'd only have his 'nightmares' when it was storming out, though. Actually, he saw through Deidara's little game the first time, and had played along ever since. Deidara was always to stubborn to admit his fears straight out.

Sasori didn't really care, anyways.

Yeah, he hated cuddling, but he never said anything about hating cuddling with Deidara, did he?

Regardless of how annoyed he would act by it. A mans got to keep his pride in touch, no?

Umbrella – Sasodei

Deidara hummed under his breath as he scooped up another handful of clay from the riverbank. He straightened up as he stuffed it in his already bugling pockets. Panting slightly, he wiped the beads of sweat running along his hairline.
“There…bound to be enough for now, un” he muttered to himself, eyeing the bulging cases with satisfaction. He wiped his muddy hands on a patch of grass, and (with not little effort) freed his shoes from the sticky mud prison.
“Jeez, I’m a mess, un...” he looked down at himself distastefully. “I just hope nothing else happens until I get back to the lair…”
As if waiting for those precise words, the clouds above the blonde’s head began to darken alarmingly. A short, sharp crackle snapped Deidara’s attention upwards.
“Oh brilliant, un…” he snorted, rolling his eyes. “JUST what I needed right now…”
Being the forgetful person he was, he hasn’t thought ahead when rushing out to collect clay – and didn’t bring an umbrella. Money, gloves, food and an extra hair band, he bought – but no umbrella.
Deidara groaned, quickening his pace. He hated getting wet. The rain, he liked. Downpours were beautiful, inspiring features of nature that cured artist’s blocks and left everything feeling fresh and new. Walking through damp woods, watching the stray raindrops quiver on the ends of leaves and breathing in the scent of wet, moist earth was one of his favourite pastimes when he wanted to clear his head.
But getting soaking wet till the point his blonde hair colour was beyond recognition, and having his clothes stuck on his skin…well, that was something he would rather avoid.
As if to mock his efforts, the clouds all gathered together, their colour an angry grey. The wind began to blow, chilly and sharp, blowing the blonde’s ponytail all over his face. He pulled the cloak closer around him, shivering.
“Oh why didn’t I bring an umbrella, un?!” he growled.
He just reached the outskirts of the town when felt something wet drop on his hands – and his head, and his shoulders. He quickly glanced up. No possible shelter was in sight, and the lair was at least another ten miles away.
“Shit.”
“It’s not nice to swear so much, Deidara” a sudden voice beside him said, cutting through his confusion. He jumped slightly and spun around – to come face to face with a slightly amused Sasori.
“Danna, un?” he gasped, lowering his arms.
“I see you were just as idiotic as I thought you might be…” the questioned redhead shook his head, reaching into his bag. He pulled out a large umbrella, and shook it open with a careless flick of his wrists. He held it towards his shocked blonde partner.
“Um…thank you, Danna!” Deidara managed to say, grabbing the handle. It was a traditional umbrella, with a chiselled wooden handle and a simple sunshade, with a striped pattern.
The sculptor quickly held it up above his head, thankful for the sudden, unexpected shelter. He glanced at Sasori, and noted with slight alarm that the puppet master’s red locks were already flat on his head, completely soaked.
“Danna, what are you doing? Come here!” he tugged at Sasori’s arm, pulling him close and into the shelter of the umbrella.
There they stood, like two solitary statues in the pouring rain.
For a few moments, they stayed in silence, listening to the roar of the thunder, and the howl of the icy wind.
Deidara pressed closer to Sasori subconsciously, relishing the heat and comfort the puppet master bought.
Sasori didn’t say anything, only snaked an arm around the blonde’s neck and began stroking his cheek with a finger.
The sculptor leaned into the touch, his lips springing into a smile.
“Sasori-Danna?”
“Hmmm?”
“How did you know how to find me? And how did you know I didn’t have an umbrella, un?”
“It was pretty easy to guess. And knowing you, you wouldn’t have thought ahead to bring one…brat…”
Deidara huffed slightly, shooting him a glare. Sasori chuckled, turning around to face his offended partner.
He moved his arm from the sculptor’s neck to his cheek, cupping it and turning it towards him.
“You’re so dreamy and careless, Deidara” he smirked softly. “But that’s why I love you, you now that don’t you?”
Not waiting for an answer, he captured the blonde’s lips in a hot kiss, cupping his face with both hands.
Deidara moaned in satisfaction, opening his mouth to the puppet master’s searing tongue that was begging entrance. He wanted to move his hand to the redhead’s neck, but instead gripped the umbrella handle tighter. Their tongues mingled as they kissed, oblivious to the raging storm, the inferno in the clouds reflecting their inner passions.
Slowly, they broke apart, Deidara sucking the wet air into his lungs greedily. He smiled at the redhead.
“Un…” he answered quietly, leaning into his embrace.
“You’re so blunt, Sasori-Danna. And rude…and passionate. But that’s why I can’t stop coming back for more…” he suddenly said, a cheeky smirk tugging at his lips.
“You really are asking for me to push you in the mud, aren’t you, Deidara?”
The blonde faked a scream and gripped Sasori’s arms.
“Danna, don’t!”
“I’m joking, you dumbass.”
Deidara straightened up, but leaned further into the puppeteer’s embrace. Sasori grumbled a little before wrapping his arms around his partner’s shivering frame.
“Looks like we’re gonna have to wait out the storm then…”
“Un…”
They stood in silence, in each other’s embrace, watching the raindrops splatter into the mud, the wind swirling their cloaks. The thunder crackled above them, lighting the shiny onyx curtain of rain enveloping them.
Deidara smiled.
The wind didn’t seem so cold anymore.
Maybe getting soaked wasn’t so bad after all.

Deidara moaned, the pleasure almost to much for him. He could feel the others tongue travel further down. He moaned again, wanting much more.

Sasori looked up at the blond in disgust, he couldn’t believe that his partner had such perverted dreams. After awhile he turned his gaze back to the puppet in his lap. The red head was currently trying to get the burn marks to disappear. The marks had been created by a certain blond. His partner moaned again, and he could clearly hear the pleasure in the blonds voice… who was he dreaming about anyway? Sasori stood and walked over to Deidaras bed, taking up the glass of water that stood on the floor. He held it over the blonds face, slowly tilting it.

Deidara shot up, eyes wide and mouth open “what the hell was that for?!” he snapped, glaring at his partner. He was angry, not for the fact that he was wet, but that the red head had woken him from a wonderful dream. Why was the puppeteer so mean to him anyway, he hadn’t done anything to make him angry, had he? Well, maybe blowing up that puppet wasn’t smart, but still!

Sasori sighed, of course the blond didn’t know why… eugh, why did it always end up with him explaining something? “because you couldn’t shut up, brat” he said, smirking. The red head walked over to his own bed and sat down, still looking at his partner. For some fucked up reason he couldn’t stop thinking about Deidaras dream, he really wanted to know who had been in it… but there was no way he would ask!

Deidara blinked, he didn’t understand what the red head meant… oh shit! His face went from pale to crimson in seconds. The blond panicked, he hadn’t screamed a name, had he? In that case, his partner would stay away from him for awhile. “I… eh, what do you mean?”.

Sasori watched as the blond became red as a tomato, and, of course, he understood the reason. His partner had figured out what he meant… or not. No, Deidara had hesitated… the boy was playing dumb! “really, then I’ll have to explain it to you” the smirk was replaced by an evil grin.

Deidara couldn’t believe what was happening. The night had began pretty well, then evolved into something fantastic… and then it was all ruined by a glass of water. The blond sighed, he really wanted to know what he had said in his sleep, but at the same time he wished that the red head wouldn’t tell. “nah, it okay… I can live without knowing”.

Sasori was a little disappointed when he heard Deidaras reply, he really wanted to know who the bitch was. Wait, why was he so angry? Eugh, well whatever… It would go away sooner or later. Now, how was he supposed to get the blond to listen? Oh, that could always work… though it would look kind of awkward. The red head stood and walked over to his partner, attaching chakra strings to the blonds body.

Deidara really hoped that the puppeteer wouldn’t tell, and if his partner did, he could always run away, right? The blond blinked when the red head stood and came closer… this didn’t look good. He got to his feet and was about to run out the door when he suddenly lost control of his own body. Deidaras eye widened as he was forced to lay down on the bed “Danna… what are you doing?”.

Sasori blinked, the blond looked pretty scared… maybe the brat thought he was going to hurt him? Heh, this could be fun, he wanted to see the blonds face when he told him. “I’m telling you a secret, Dei” okay, he had no idea where that nickname came from, and one thing was sure, he was not using it again. Sasori seated himself on his partners stomach, he put his hands on the others shoulders as he leaned down towards Deidaras face.

Deidara tried to brake free, he knew it wouldn’t work, but he still had to try. He closed his eye, not wanting to see how the red head was going to hurt him. The blond gasped and opened his eye, finding his partner right in front of him, sitting on his stomach. Suddenly he realized how close he was to the puppeteer, and he once again turned red. “w- what…” he couldn’t finish the sentence, seeing that Sasori was leaning closer.

Sasori enjoyed this. He enjoyed making the blond embarrassed, still he couldn’t help feeling angry about Deidara having a dream about some girl. He passed the blonds face and stopped with the ear “you were… moaning”. He suddenly felt very empty, and he didn’t know why.

Deidaras heart beat faster and faster, Sasori was inches away and… he passed? What the… oh, he got it, the red head was going to whisper it. The blond heard everything, he had moaned “but danna, everyone moans” heh, maybe he would be able to get away!

Sasori closed his eyes “of course, but you had pleasure mixed in your voice”. Damn… damn the brat, why was he feeling so depressed? Hell, he wasn’t even supposed to feel any emotion! “who was it?”.

Deidara sighed, hoping that he could save himself. Unfortunately, the red head had heard `that´. Shit, shit… shit, what now? Deidara bit his lower lip, trying to come up with something good. “well, it was… um…” wait, why did the red head want to now, anyway?! “why should I tell?”.

Sasori reopened his eyes, not daring to lift himself up to look at the blond. Why had he asked again? Oh yeah, he was jealous… wait, no fucking way he was! “you don’t have any choice”.

Deidara swallowed, he didn’t want to tell… that would just ruin his `relationship´ with the puppeteer. But what Sasori said was also true, he couldn’t move and the red head was sitting on him “you”.

Sasori waited patiently, even though he didn’t like to do so. His eyes widened, the bond had dreamt about him? He hadn’t expected this, and for some reason he was relived “why would you dream about me?”.

Deidara felt hurt, he had thought that the puppeteer was a little bit smarter. But he guessed when it came to emotions, Sasori was clueless. “it’s not that hard to understand, really” a tear fell from his eye, the red head hadn’t rejected him, but the way he had said `why me´ was kind of the same. “I like you…”.

Sasori blinked at the `wasn‘t hard to understand´. If it wasn‘t he wouldn‘t be asking would he? He saw the tear fall, he couldn’t understand that either, had he said something wrong? His heart skipped a beat… the blond actually liked him? But he was a puppet, one with out emotion. He couldn’t return something he didn’t have, even if he wanted to. Sasori sat back up and looked Deidara in the eye, smiling “heh… and I was afraid it was some girl” he stopped the chakra, letting the blond move again.

Deidara looked straight at the red head, trying not to break down. Instead of tears he began to laugh, he hadn’t thought that Sasori would say that “didn’t expect that”. Then he sat up, taking a hold of the red head and bringing him closer.

Sasoris eyes widened at the sudden contact between their lips. Even though he couldn’t feel it, he liked it. After a few seconds he broke it and hugged the blond “I guess I like you to”.

They sat like that for a long time, neither of the two wanted to break it.

I hate spiders I can't stand them, I have arachnophobia:S:iik I can't stand them and trust me I've seen worse cases coming from fire ants and other deadly insects. I watch a lot of animal planet:amuse As much I hate spiders I actually watch them because I need to learn the deadliest ones... you know, so I can be ready in case I see one...

... Okay... here's some more of Butaiosaru... It's a very rough version, and I'm not sure I like it, so give me feedback...


Kisame had tried to contact Deidara through his bedroom door first, under Pein’s orders. After becoming frustrated and attempting to smash the door down, Hidan took his place… but this was a terrible mistake. After two or three minutes, Hidan began shrieking obscenities at the door, insulting everything about Deidara, from his godlessness to his manhood. And so Hidan became Kakuzu- who simply sat outside the now battered door and ran figures- and Kakuzu became Konan- who spoke icily until her voice was hoarse- and Konan became Itachi. Itachi was rather puzzled as to why the artist did not come out after he threatened to torture him, shrugged his shoulders, and left the door alone.
Zetsu tried next, and this ended in disaster almost as hefty as Hidan’s endeavour, for his less agreeable side wanted to simply melt through the door and eat the blonde, while his more sensible side berated him. The two sides ended up snarling at poor Tobi, who had come to look for him. To Zetsu’s astonishment and Zetsu’s mild surprise, Leader-sama padded quietly behind him.
“Sir,” they both said.
He eyed them blankly. “Go eat one of the prisoners, Zetsu.”
“Thank you, Leader-sama,” Zetsu chorused, one voice low and collected, the other brimming with childish glee. He sank down into the ground.
“Pein,” Tobi prodded.
“Yes…” The shadowy figure rapped on the door four times. “Deidara. If you do not get out of this room within the next twenty four hours, I will dismiss you.”
Dismissal meant death, of course, and death meant Zetsu fodder. He knew that was not the death Deidara wanted.
But the door remained still, the air stagnant, staid and silent.
“I will handle it, then…” Tobi said irritably.
“… Very well… but he will die if he does not get over this?” Pein knew this was unreasonable. It had not even been twenty four hours since Zetsu returned, towing Deidara behind him like a blind man’s guide. He knew the others- Kakuzu, in particular- were still shell-shocked; Sasori was the constant, reassuring presence that none of them had known before joining the Akatsuki.
It was strange how attached the organization had become to its long-standing members. Pein was very displeased himself…
He shook it away. “Shall I take care of him?”
The masked figure waved a hand. “If it comes to that, I will do it. There is no point in drawing it out. I will make an excuse.”
Ah, but they had done this before. Suicide in the Akatsuki was not uncommon, thanks to Pein’s hardened heart. The Akatsuki was meant to bring about the dawning of a new era, and could not afford weakness.
Pein did not say anything more, but turned and swept back the way he’d come.
He had work to do. Deidara was expendable; they all were.



He remembered when Sasori finally broke down and told him.
It had been passionless, and cold, and empty, and it had hurt Deidara like nothing else.
“I can’t feel, Brat.”
Looking back, Deidara knew he’d been asking for it. Sasori, having next to no patience, always snapped and snarled at his antics, but when Deidara repeatedly asked him why, desperate to get a response and received none…
“I can’t feel, Brat.”
He didn’t know why he was so captivated by the creepy Suna nin. Sasori’s hollow, cold eyes and curled, cruel smile chilled the blood of those who were unlucky enough to behold his face before he skewered them with poisoned steel, that smile curling up ever so slightly as the victims twitched like stuck beetles. Why could he not stop staring at his nimble fingers as they sent a wave of death at their foes?
“I can’t feel, Brat.”
That… that had been the moment when he realized there was something very wrong with him. To obsess over his partner was wrong.
But, oh, Kami, it hurt, and Deidara found himself spilling tears silently into his sheets that night. And as his eyes squinted shut, and his hands clenched in dismay at his weakness, he heard whispers beside him as Sasori knelt by his bed.
“I’m sorry… Dei, I’m so, so sorry…”

“Deidara-senpai!” Tobi screeched, yanking away the covers from the blonde’s bed. “No… not there… Deidaraaaaa-senpaaaiiii!”
Tobi had always liked the artists’ chambers. The bedroom had been split in twain- literally. Sasori had loathed Orochimaru, and in a fit of rage, and smashed the floor apart, then fitted a wall into the perfect crack that ran down the middle of the stone. This wall had long since come down, but the crack still defined the different spaces the artists shared.
Sasori had claimed the right side. It was not meticulously clean, as one expected. Instead, there were many shelves along the walls which only made room for a small bed that was rarely- if ever- used. The colours were earthy and warm, and sensible. The floor was coated with dust and wood shavings, left over from some long ago break from missions. Bottles of poison and tanks habituating serpents and scorpions, spiders and rodents, took up the majority of space on the shelves, though there was an area devoted to many thick, leather-bound books, their spines creased with use and their pages bent for reference. From the sides of the shelves were fixed many pegs, and countless instruments for wood carving hung from them, there edges gleaming. Sasori did not have much, but he cared for his tools, and they shone bright and deadly in the candlelight.
His bed was missing.
Deidara’s side was also not what was expected. Though dust had settled upon the floor during his absence, there was no spattered clay glued to the walls, no charred marks upon the ceiling. Deidara’s half of the room was bright and lively; silken draperies covered the walls where the shelves holding pre-prepared clay sculptures did not. The artist was fond of blue and red, and so these colours were to be found everywhere; on his blankets, his clothes… the little sculptures were a sight to behold; though Deidara’s battle sculptures were undeniably well-crafted, he could produce truly spectacular pieces given the time and the tools. Deidara’s tree frogs were Tobi’s favourite, for he added certain substances to the clay to give it color, and the frogs gleamed and glittered so brightly and so beautifully that he half expected them to leap off of the shelves, their large eyes darting. There was a potter’s wheel that Sasori had grudgingly made for Deidara’s seventeenth birthday tucked behind the bed, its surface so well polished that Tobi could see his dark eye glinting back at him on it.
He shook his head. The room always did this to him.
“Deidara-senpai?” he crowed, making his voice as horrifically obnoxious as he could. “Are you taking a bath or something?” He stepped carefully to one of the two doors on the far side of the room, and opened it warily. The bathroom was solely Deidara’s, as Sasori did not need it, and Deidara made this very obvious. All of the tiling comprised of deep blue triangles that the blonde had created. The glass around the tub and the sink mirror was a rich rose-red.
But this room, too, was empty.
“Not here, then…”
Tobi pulled back, and the latch clicked in place. He hopped to the right and grasped the handle of the door that led to the workshop, hesitating.
He’d never been permitted within this area- no one dared enter after a young Itachi came sprinting out of the room, his left arm broken in several places. Sasori valued his privacy, and apparently for good reason, because Itachi refused to speak of what he had seen.
But Sasori was dead.
He grimaced behind his mask, twisted the knob, and pushed.

At first, he’d thought it was his imagination. He heard it every night, after all, and surely Sasori-danna did not sit by him every night simply to say he was sorry.
“I’m so sorry… I know you don’t believe me… but I really am… so sorry…”
And every night, he had to restrain himself from smacking the redhead and screaming, “Don’t lie! Don’t lie to me!”
But that had been when he had thought it was his mind playing nasty tricks on him. When he realized that Sasori truly was there, every night, all night, he no longer had any reason to hold back.
He’d never done so before, after all.
And so he lashed out, shouting into the face of the soulless husk that was his partner.
“Don’t lie! Don’t you lie to me!”
Those cold eyes did not change. But he watched in satisfaction as the wooden but not features twisted into something vaguely resembling a visage of pain.
The puppet rose, his joints creaking, and went back to his bed. Filled with a heated satisfaction, Deidara, slumped back into his mattress, huffing into the pillows.
He did not sleep well that night. Strange, crackling noises, like the shudderings of an asthma victim disturbed his rest, and he could find no peace.

Tobi’s breath hitched, his greeting caught in his throat, which was suddenly paper-dry.
Tobi did not see the workshop. Instead, his eye focused on a small platform at the back of the room illuminated by a dim, golden lamp, for there was Deidara, standing beneath the light, his hair shining with a halo in the darkness.
And before him, laid like a fallen angel cast upon ebony sheets, wings spread out and around him, was Sasori.

The shudderings started up again the following evening, and the next. By the end of the week, Deidara was ready to kill his partner. What the Hell was Sasori doing?
But as he began moulding his clay into a scorpion- fitting, he thought- a new sound joined the creaks and pops that had tormented the artist.
It was quiet, so quiet that he did not hear it over the tiny clicks of his teeth and those damned mechanical sounds. But it grew in volume, and by the time Deidara spat out the pretty scorpion, it was impossible to ignore.
An odd, continuous moan filled the air, punctuated by the scrape of metal on wood.
Horrible. Ruthless. Unforgivable.
Sasori was crying, the bastard, crying in the only way he could, being without human eyes or tear ducts.
Enraged, Deidara grabbed the scorpion and stomped over to his partner’s bed, tossing the explosive onto Sasori’s unfeeling body.
“Shut up! Shut up! It’s a lie!” His hand shot up to form the necessary sign, lips pulled away from his teeth.
“Gomen nasai, Dei. But I did not lie.”
“Damn it!” Deidara slammed his fist against Sasori’s prone form, crushing his art. “I hate you!”
“I know.”
“Why did you do this?! Why the fuck did you do it?!”
“I don’t know.”
“I want an answer!”
“I can’t give you one. All I can give you is my regret.”
“It’s not enough!”
Because he loved Sasori, and Sasori had ruined everything… everything, with those three words.
Or maybe it had been he who had ruined it all. Perhaps he should be the one apologizing for falling in love with someone incapable of returning his affections.
“I cannot give you something broken that you should have whole.”
Or maybe it was both of them… so different that it was so perfect between them, but this… they couldn’t handle this.
“Aishiteru, Brat. Gomen nasai. I will not give you less than what you deserve.”
Or maybe it was only as ruined as they allowed it to be…

... I don't know... I think it's too mushy... but I'm really critical about my stuff...
