I was rewatching Shippuuden episode 112 today when I noticed its very true that Deidara tends to talk alot just to hear himself, and that he seems slightly like a narcissist. I started telling myself that that was silly but then I kinda thought that maybe Deidara was trying to truthfully impress and or show off to Tobi. Maybe because he looked up to Sasori with pride being that he too is an artist and wishes Tobi would do the same.

So really it might be that Deidara is putting up with the grieving for his Danna by trying to act like him. Then Deidara gets upset because he wants Tobi to act like him, and look up to him the same way he looked up to Sasori before his death. Maybe hes just putting up a strong front by being mean to Tobi when really hes grieving on the inside because he really just wants thing to be like they used to with his Danna. Truthfully, Deidara was seemingly alot nicer with Sasori. Too bad Tobi knows, and cares noting about art.

Kay so, I did a Sasori/Deidara essay. It may not be the longest one ever, the best one ever, but I really tried. If you guys would like to add your own reasons to why you like this pairing as well, I would love to hear it, or if you would like to add something to this essay of the sort, I will gladly put it in if it fits. :3

I tried t make it sweet and straight to the point, but I got carried away at some parts because I just love this pairing alot. *____*

A Sasori x Deidara essay

Introduction

Some people underestimate this pairing, stating that we only like it “for the yaoi”, “the buttsex”, etc, etc. But honestly? If Sasori was a girl, I would still adore it. If Deidara was a girl, I would still adore it. Hetero, yaoi, or yuri, I would still adore this pairing. As long as it is Sasori x Deidara, I’m set and ready to go.

So why would I ship it? Because it’s rare. That’s right. It’s a rare type of relationship I have honestly not seen before. Usually, I am opposed to the idea of “opposites attract”. But these two characters have one connection that binds them together: Their art.

Deidara believes art is a bang, Sasori believes art is eternal beauty.

Sasori is calm. Deidara is loud, feisty. Sasori needs to be on time - and he is impatient in waiting. Does Deidara care about those things? Not at all. He goes about his own way.

I like to call it as “a bickering relationship”. Because that’s all I see them do. Bicker about art, disagree about anything pertaining to it about what the other has to say about it… But art is the thing that keeps them together.

Because without art and their opinions, we would have no Sasori and Deidara. And that’s the truth - their whole lives revolve around art.

Sasori

Sasori’s parents died when he was young, leaving Chiyo to care for him. There, as we know it, he became fascinated with the idea of puppetry and it filled his needs. But he later joined Akatsuki, and even converted his body into a puppet.

Now, I know the fact that Sasori being a puppet causes conflict, because he “cannot feels emotions”, as people say. But actually, he did feel emotions. How can I come to this conclusion?

“Sasori saw my last attack… But somehow, he couldn’t avoid it. It gave him a small opening…” -Chiyo, chp. 275

It’s simple: He allowed to let himself be killed at the end of his fight. He could have moved away, done anything, but he didn’t budge at all. He didn’t want to kill his Grandma in the end. Maybe he didn’t want to live like that anymore. Whatever it was: It was caused by emotions.


Deidara

Deidara’s life, like Sasori’s, revolved around art. Unlike Sasori’s type of art, Deidara’s consisted of clay bombs/explosions, which then came to stimulate one of his favorite phrases: “Art is a bang!”

Even in their art differences, Deidara refers to Sasori as “master”. He respects him, and looks up to his devotion for art. [Something I would have never really expected from a person like Deidara, but it just makes their interaction/relationship more interesting].

Deidara was forced into the organization, Akatsuki, by Uchiha Itachi. Loosing a fight against him, he held a grudge against Itachi, against Uchihas. That was his biggest downfall, because in his fight with Uchiha Sasuke, in the last moment: He had put a bomb inside his chest. In a desperate attempt to kill Sasuke, he set off his bomb… an act of suicide.


The Pairing


I never really expected to fall in love with this pairing as I have; when I didn’t even recognize the two characters at first, I just looked at the two going to the Sand Village and I said to myself: Yeah, I’ll like these two.

What I like about this pairing is its Master/Student relationship of the sort. When Sasori died, and Deidara and Tobi were paired up as partners, Deidara acted boastful, but took on the role as Tobi’s teacher, this time. Almost as if he missed Sasori, a master, to look up to and to bicker about art with. I honestly think he really did miss that.

They compliment each other greatly, both lacking what the other one does have, and the fact that it differs from most other pairings really draws me into it.

But the fact that it is yaoi does NOT mean of course, that this pairing couldn’t have been plausible. Kishimoto has shown ways that he defied “shounen laws” and substituted it with his own little things [ex. 347]. And we all know how Zabuza/Haku was the first pairing to be canon in the series, and they were both men, no matter how many people contradict the fact.

Like I have stated ion the intro, I wouldn’t have scared if this pairing was hetero or yuri, or whatever. As long as Sasori is still Sasori, and Deidara is still Deidara, I would still think this is the most badass Akatsuki pair in the manga. The interactions speak for its own, the art is admirable, and the pairing is one of my favorites ever.

So whatever would have happened, could have been, etc., I would still love this pairing for what it was, and always enjoy what these two had. Lacking what the other one has, and to love each other is one of the greatest relationships that would ever happen.
