I have been wondering at what age does it become creepy or weird to watch anime and read manga. I'm in my Mid 20's and don't feel ashamed of one of my favorite hobbies, but was just thinking what is the average age of the regular anime/manga fan out there. Let me know your thoughts and opinions on this and if there is an age to move on to better past times

Well to be honest, I don't really think it's fair to stop someone's hobby just because they're a certain age. I mean if you enjoy reading the manga or watching the anime, then continue to do so. No one should tell you what you can do base on your age. I'm fourteen. So I guess that's "normal". But my father watches Naruto too (actually, he introduced it to me XD) and he's over forty lolol. (my friends love him) He also introduced Playstation to me and many, many other joys of the world.

Why would it be creepy? Because its animated? Thats a pretty stupid reason to right something off as creepy...just because its animated does mean its some children's cartoon show....there are some very serious anime out there dealing with very adult issues.....

Never! It can never be creepy! Enjoying any form of entertainment is exactly that, having fun in life. Series appeal to all different ages. Heck, some of them I would think are made specifically for older audiences. Besides, of course people here aren't going to think it is anything weird because we are anime viewers. The only times I would think something would be weird would be if a person is extremely fanatical about it, but the same is true for being crazed about anything else as well.

You can never get too old for things like that. And it would never seem weird to me, because as YK said, there are anime series that are made for older audiences.

Kinda funny since the whole industry started for adults. It wasn't until mass production that it became for kids. At least the spirit of cartooning is kept alive somewhat with anime. Anything conceived here in the states nowadays is pretty much just censored brainwashing of children.

I gotta ask, is he one that like, gives you his porn collection too lol? I've heard many stories like that, I think THAT would be creepy..
As for anime, I dont think there's really an age limit, many people seem to lose interest, but if you dont, go for it! I dont want to lose interest or plan on it, but you never know what'll happen in the future.

As long as it isn't dominating your life, it isn't creepy. Though the same thing can be said for any hobby, really.

lol no. XDD He's extremely strict about those stuff actually. Including simple little kisses in movies/anime/everything else. Kind of annoying actually. >_>;
So he's a good dad, fun and still strict neh.

No...no....no...it's not creepy at all. It's just a hobby, that you happen to enjoy.
There's nothing wrong with reading manga or watching anime if your in your mid 20's. As long as it's in moderation and doesn't consume you then it's perfectly okay.

Its not and shouldn't be creepy, but I'd be lying if I said that everyone agrees with this ideal. There are people out there who find anime "weird and stupid" and think the same of those who watch it. Its kinda because of that, that I've become a bit of a closet-case anime/manga viewer :ano
I don't think it's creepy--a lot of people enjoy animation (look at all the adults who love bringing their kids to animated movies, it's their secret hobby! For you it just isn't a secret.)
Although to be fair, this is a rather biased audience...it's just back to whatever you think. But like NaelokQ said, as long as it doesn't completely dominate your life, there's really nothing creepy about it.

One hundred percent agree with this, i turned 19 and I was like should I really be watching and reading this stuff but hey its a form of entertainment its just like playing xbox or playstation.

No it isn't creepy. Think of it like this, back in the late 80's/early 90's everyone looked at videogames as something for children. They said that only kids play games and that grown people shouldn't play them. But now look at videogames, I know lots of people in their 30's and 40's who play videogames and now no one says anything negative about them.
The same thing with anime, around the same time people said that it was stupid and for kids and that sort of thing, but everyday that goes by more and more people get into anime and it gets more into our culture and pretty soon just like videogames people of all ages will enjoy the anime and it will also be mainstream just like the games.

lol, sorry, be happy it's spoilered, mods made me do that.. it really was quite popular though, most people liked it, and I got many messages asking where it went lol.
I don't think find it creppy in the least. My friend's dad is around 40-50 and he watches anime, plays video games and even collects Gundam figures (has a whole shelf full of them). I think it's really cool, and I'll most likely do the same when I'm that age.

Times are changing
Everything is A LOT more accessible, and anything that's marketable and profitable is regarded with a certain degree of respect
Anime, comics, video games, etc all have benefited from these changes. Well, comics in its purest form isn't doing that well, and neither is anime/manga sales in North America
I don't think anyone's ever too old to enjoy these things, however I do think you can be too old to let these things still be the focus of your life.
As you grow older, you should learn to put certain things before your own personal interest
