I was watching Code Geass last night when I though wow Lolouch is alot like Light from DeathNote. So here it is comparing Lolouch to Light.
They both want to change the world they live in.

They might both want to change the world, but they are completely different.

Lelouch Lamperouge, once a name of royalty, now a high school student. Comes across a girl after accidentally knocked into a truck, and discovers his powers given from her. He uses them to his advantage in order to 'create a world in which his sister Nunally can smile in' or whatnot. He's doing this for a perfectly logical reason: for the sake of the remainder of his family, and for what happened in his catastrophic childhood with the murder of his mother. He uses the method of tricking the mind into obeying his every command. Lelouch does everything to save Japan to take down Britannia for what happened to his family years ago.

Light Yagami, a high school student in Japan. Finds a Death Note, and discovering its powers, he uses them to his advantage in order to 'make this a better world'. But if you remember from episode one, he simply says he's probably doing this because he's bored. No excitement in his life. There was no prior reason for changing the world, like a catastrophic childhood. He also used a different method: by killing people. His objective was the 'cleanse the world' of evil and monstrosity, not save destroy his country to save another and for the sake of himself and those that he loved.

See, they might want to 'change the world' but they're doing it for different reasons and with different methods.

Well duh, they are different worlds, but that's not what this is about

They are both smart, and willing to kill to get their way. They think very similarly, always trying to calculate everything out, take everything into account. They may have different reasons and different goals, but they are very similar to eachother.

Lelouch and Light have the same idea/plan but they both have different personalities. Light was heartless bastard. Lelouch cares for some people and is a bastard :). That is a huge difference and that difference is what changes how Light/Lelouch would plan something.
