Because sakura has gained medic powers, she will no longer be in the "Hate" category(Where she was). If she turns out to actually kick ass, but ends up with Sasuke, she will remain in "No opinion" or if she ends up with Naruto but still just stands there, she will be "No opinion", if she does nothing and ends up with Sasuke she will be "Dislike", but if she ends up with Naruto and kicks ass she can go up to "like".

Aethos, I think what he's saying is... Sakura hasn't done That much either. When you think about it, relatively to their male counterparts, Sakura and Hinata both haven't done much. Sakura might have done more than Hinata, but her relative share of the work in team 7 is probably just about as much as Hinata's share of the work in her own team, meaning not much (as Sasuke put it, Sakura was "worse than Naruto"...). It's just that her team has probably done more than Hinata's team (I don't think Hinata's team was accidentally sent off on an A-rank mission).

My conclusion? Pre-timeskip, Kishimoto made practically all the girls suck. :notrust

Sakura kicks ass now though. ^__^ I'd rather judge how much a character has improved rather than how weak a character was at the beginning of the series. Honestly, Naruto himself was a weakling at the start.

She wouldn't have done that if she were stronger herself.

It's not her fault that she get's overshadowed by the main character and his rival. It's not her fault that she's casually pushed aside so Sasuke and Naruto can get into their friendly competitions.

Like Rinzen said, pre-timeskip (or rather pre-Tsunade), both characters = LAME. They didn't do anything to stand out, especially compared to their male teammates. I didn't say Sakura was slacking off by the way, I said she trained LESS than her teammates, whereas Hinata trained longer than Hers.

HOWEVER, I've kept emphasizing the fact that this was pre-Tsunade Sakura. As I've stated over and over again, I value the rate of Improvement MUCH more than how strong a character is at the beginning. Naruto at the very beginning of the series? Pff. Loser. But he improves So fast that even Sasuke is dead jealous. Sakura always had more potential than Hinata, but because she's never properly used it (blame Kishimoto if you want but after all, Kishimoto is god in his manga) and was too busy oogling "Sasuke-kun", at that point she served as much as a purpose in her team as Hinata served in hers. When Sakura started training under Tsunade though... *see her abilities shoot up*

Since we know how high post-timeskip Sakura's abilities are, there are 2 possibilities really: either she was lame before and this shows she has improved the most afterwards (the award for "most improved genin of the year"), or she was already strong before which means that to reach her post-timeskip level, the rate at which she'd have to improve would have been a Lot lesser...

It's saying that according to you, Sakura improved less than according to me...

Because in order for Sakura to reach her post-timeskip level, the lower she starts the more it means she'd have improved, whereas if she were a genius from the start, that wouldn't have made her improvement stand out as much (okay no-one is saying that she was a genius, but it was just a comparison).

And the more she's improved, the higher her improvement rate, the higher her future skills would be. If she were good from the start, then to reach that post-timeskip level, she'd have needed to improve less than if she started out lame, which points to slower growth rates. Now it is my honest belief that pre-Tsunade Sakura was lame-ass, which only means that to reach her present level, her growth rate must be shit high. High growth rate = even Better skills in the future.

Hinata in the meantime, improves a lot more slowly than Sakura.

While I also hope Sakura surpasses Tsunade, I think that may take a while. Sakura would have to grow in almost every area shes strugling (stamina and chakra amount).

As for Hinata, in the second character databook, which Kishimoto Also wrote, he's stated that Hinata has been making "slow but steady progress". Read "slow". She'll become quite decent in my opinion, but her growth is probably nowhere near the level Sakura displayed under Tsunade's training. If anything, Sakura's role as a main character is enough to ensure that she'll shine from now on, whereas Hinata is a minor character.

There are many things to like about Hinata in my opinion. Physical strength isn't one of them. Deal with it.

Nick, I've read the 30 Kisses fanfic, it's good stuff. XD There are more of those on the 30 Kisses LJ community, but the author has her own LJ where you can see them ( http://www.livejournal.com/users/pitofthesloth/ ). There SHOULD be more of those fanfics where Naruto freaks out whenever Sakura gets close to him. I mean, just look at the anime - Teuchi teases Naruto about Sakura being his girlfriend and he goes cherry-red. I like the idea of Naruto's lack of experience with girls making him all nervous, contrasts nicely with his hot-headedness and occasional bragging. ;)

The Gai battle outcome seems clear, it was cool to see the nunchukus - very Bruce Lee. :D It was cool to see him open the gates like Lee, and it seems he was punching so fast his fists were flames.

If Kisame is indeed down and out, I wonder what Team Gai will do with him? Try to take him for questioning? Hey... if Kisame has actually been defeated, that will mean the Akatsuki will notice since he won't be contributing to the sealing jutsu any more (if it is still ongoing).

I'm also confused about the Itachi fight. What the heck is going on? I looked at the panels to see if Naruto had been caught in genjutsu (eye contact) but I could see nothing. What's clear is that Itachi used the smoke from the defeated Kage Bunshin to cover his next move (nice to see Naruto's one-handed Rasengan ;)). But if they REALLY are Itachi clones, what the heck happened to Kakashi, Sakura and Chiyo?

I'd place my bets on Itachi somehow getting Naruto in genjutsu (since I doubt Itachi could knock the others out so easily), but I doubt he would have made any eye-contact. It could have been something in that Kage Bunshin. We'll have to see.

The only bad thing about this early release is that we'll likely have to wait longer for 259 before we can find out. XD

After a little thought and a small post from Geno on H+E, I've firmly concluded that in 258:

Naruto IS under a genjutsu trick. It doesn't HAVE to be sight that gets affected (remember the Shikamaru/Tayuya fight?), so it is possible that the Kage Bunshin smoke had something in it that made him hallucinate. And don't bother with the pot jokes. I can see them coming a mile away, thankyou...

It's a far more plausible explanation than simply having the rest of Team Kakashi knocked out as if they were weaklings and hadn't been training for the past three years. The Itachi clones ARE Sakura and Chiyo. It's clever of Itachi to create confusion and busy Sakura and Chiyo with a confused Naruto while he tries to deal with Kakashi on his own. While Naruto may get injured, they won't kill him - Sakura certainly won't want to kill someone she really likes, and I doubt Chiyo would be so rash.

I like the look of this battle. :cool It's a tactical one, which I love.

Anyone want to place bets on Sakura shaking Naruto out of the genjutsu? :P Although I hope it's a somewhat tender moment rather than her caving his skull in with a chakra-boosted punch... XD

Now its about how long Naruto will last/endure, of course we know he'll stand up to Itachi because of his strong will to survive and live.

I don't think we'd continue scanlating Death Note... it was a completely random decision by one of our members who doesn't even read Death Note, who doesn't even know a Death Note forum, and who hasn't asked any of the rest of us on whether we should be doing other mangas in the first place. What happened is that he basically bugged Iwanin into translating several dozen text-heavy pages of Death Note... bugged Me into removing the text from the colored pages (I didn't even know that it was a non-related image he wanted me to fix until I got the pages :notrust) and made a "scanlation" that simply consisted of him sticking the translations onto the denoised (meaning, one put through the algorithm we use as a first step to cleaning manga) pages. He wants to have Shannaro do Bleach and Hunter x Hunter as well... But basically, he's quite alone on this, so I really don't see what the hell this is for. :notrust We'll probably tell him to stop. We have other translations to prioritize, like the databook.

It'd be really cool if you did end up writing a drabble sometime in the near future though. I can understand the bit about the length of your work, but that's one of the more positive aspects. However to compensate, you could try doing a drabble series instead of a single piece of writing.

This way would include having a short well written fic, but at the same time have a long continuity when put together with other short drabbles. Blayze's recent fic was a pretty good example of a lengthy(by short story standards) drabble which packed a punch. :cool

Yeah that was Icha Icha, but it looked more like a movie script than one of the series books. This Naruto feature film, although it's not supposed to have a solid connection to the timeline, would fit really well into shortly before episode 101. Because the Icha Icha movie poster was featured there.

I was going around Livejournal and other blogs, looking at entries that talked about NaruSaku. I did find a few interesting things - quite a few yaoi fans see NaruSaku as CANON. Others talked of the NaruSaku vibes in the new OP and ED of the anime, and I found a very nice picture I'm sure many people will like. ;)

Yeah, it's so weird to see many yaoi fans talk of NaruSaku as canon. XD A few of those comments can be found in the LJs of the drabble writers (the Kenhime LJ Arashi linked to has a few), and some writers talk about it being canon.

While I'm very confident Naruto and Sakura will have some moments and end up together, I'm still not calling them that ATM - don't want to tempt fate. :P It's funny, some people expect the manga/anime to take a sudden twist and make NaruHina and/or SasuSaku canon with a dramatic scene or two. But that's not Kishimoto's style at all - he loves to build things up. I've stopped bothering to correct people who don't pay any attention to the finer details of the manga - let them find out themselves. :P

I DO wonder who Ino could go with in the manga, if anybody. She's been paying attention to Chouji at the end of Part One, but it doesn't click right to me... I'd kill for an InoShikaTem triangle though - imagine Shika getting caught in the crossfire. XD

EDIT: lol, Red, I saw that too. Interestingly, there is also a picture of an older Team 7 further down the page - all naked. There's also a Pairings Vote - NaruSaku came 3rd behind NaruHina and ShikaTem, while SasuSaku didn't get a single vote.

For starters, it is clear that a couple can only possibly exist if there are hints of feelings on BOTH sides. That equation does not consider the Naruto side. Also, Hinata clearly behaves as if Naruto is an idol, admiring his belief and confidence. Maybe she does crush on him a little, maybe not, but it's certainly not love.

Hmm, I wonder how you would see the NaruSaku equation, Aethos? I suck at maths so I daren't try making one. XD It'd definitely include both sides, with the Sakura->Naruto factor increasing as time goes on.

BTW, I posted this over at H+E, thought you guys might like to see. :P It's a mock scene of a possible 259 outcome. I would love it to happen, but I'm not holding my breath for any NaruSaku stuff. ^_^;

Yep. That Kenhime. ;) Hehe, it's cool to see she's a NaruSaku fan as well - she's a great writer. Must bookmark LJ for future drabble goodness. It is indeed scary she's already that good at 16, makes you wonder how good she'll be in the future. Now, if only she could update Amitica or, if she's lost interest in that story, make a new NaruSaku story. :P What makes me applaud her skill on that story is that it has angst and tension, but it's NOT overdone and is actually beautifully written. Most writers of her age (and older and younger) tend to pile the angst on in spadeloads, making their stories read like very bad soap operas (as if soap operas weren't already bad enough) with wobbly sets.

I definitely believe that chapter made Sakura think she had seen Sasuke's "warm side" when it was actually Naruto, and fell deeper in her crush. Strangely enough Kishimoto reintroduced Shikamaru early... could Shikamaru's team be reintroduced last, with Kishimoto only reintroducing him early because he's so popular? (#5 in Japane I believe. That's fanservice for ya). Though... Shikamaru is supposed to help with the Chuunin exams... can he really be sent on a mission so soon? :S (oh dear, this is bad, if Shikamaru's team doesn't get sent on anything anytime soon because of the chuunin exams, then Kishimoto might not bother with Kurenai's team anytime soon either. Unless Shikamaru alone is left out. But that sounds unlikely...)

I finally saw the Kohonamaru four leaf clover thing(Dumb..........) and dled the movie but havent been able to watch it(Its long.........)

and the latest episode was alright. Reminded me of DBZ alot(He punches and the wind from his punch creates a wave........) and some of the animations were bad(When a character was punched hard enough. At one point Sasukes sharingan eyes disapeared.)

By the way, I actually preferred the manga here. Sure, the animation is better... well... animated, but I think it wasn't as poetic as it was in the manga. When Naruto in the manga said "and when I'm with you, I wonder, if it's like being a brother", I just felt so sad for him. Here, it just felt, well... normal. Maybe because the scenes are too clean and all... Also, I'd have liked if they slowed down a few scenes a bit more to show Sasuke anticipating Naruto's attacks and all. They did that with Neji, and that sure didn't hurt the animation.

But whooooa, Kyuubi Naruto sure looked a lot more powerful here. That's a jounin-level attack if I've ever seen one. >_<

The thing that made me happiest about the preview by the way, is that it shows that the fight will be over next week. Then we'll get to see the other genins again! Yay!

It's been a while since I last posted, but you guys sure have been busy, and I have to admit that I had a nice laugh over that SS you uploaded in Photobucket Mizura :), Lol, I had no idea people repped people on stuff like that.

well, I just thought I'd share some of my opinions here, I know I know you don't care, but I'm hoping we can start talking about something better than banning people :smile-big .

The episode 133 was pretty awesome and even though there are a few places where you might wonder why Sasuke still hasn't called his doctor for a plastic surgery, you have to remember that some of the effects has been exaggerated on purpose so that it looks better. Especially the "flying Narutos spawning out of the water have all weird facial expressions, but that is probably because of wind resistance or some such thing. I like this episode and even though it doesn't have the same depth as Neji's fight, Chouji's or Gaara's you have to remember that we've already been fed-up with that stuff before the serious fighting began. But luckily we weren't excluded from some feelings. Which makes me think that this was made on purpose because they want people to put the pieces together to understand what it is the fight is about.

Chapter 258 was pretty awesome, I'm very curious to what is happening in Naruto and Itachi's fight, I didn't expect Kakashi to lose that quick, but maybe it's some fancy genjutsu Itachi has thrown to effect everyone and I'd like to know what happened to Sakura. Um... Gai, what else can I say but OMFG that was some pretty cool show off there.

HOW DARE YOU MOCK THE ONE PIECE! THE ONE PIECE IS MORE SPECIALER THAN YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! Anyways I found these quite hilarious. The "stuck on you" sitcom one with Kiba and Sakon/Ukon was hilarious. As was the Neji one where he had a rock with a face in bed with him and called it Lee. XD

The Ninja vs Robot's one was also hilarious as was the Artist Gai picture. The Kimimaro one where Kimi has a tantrum after Gaara figures out his bone pun was funny as was the way Itachi was jealous of Gai.

Oh and Peanuts style Sasuke and Sakura was funny too XD I bet Naruto's poor ol charlie brown. And what the heck is Gaara doing dressed as Sakura? XD

Oh! And CSL2 Sasuke doing the show white mirror scene was funny too. Of course Itachi is always more fair than him. Oh and the "what would happen if Sasuke returned as if nothing ever happened" one was one of the funniest I've ever seen... though Sasuke looks like a simpson's character.

HOW DARE YOU MOCK THE ONE PIECE! THE ONE PIECE IS MORE SPECIALER THAN YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! I should know I've seen it and what not because I'm a pirate striving for adventure on the grand line... or I would have been if Hoku hadn't kidnapped me and hid my awesome piratey ship somewhere where I could never find it.

Anyways I found these quite hilarious. The "stuck on you" sitcom one with Kiba and Sakon/Ukon was hilarious. As was the Neji one where he had a rock with a face in bed with him and called it Lee. XD

The Ninja vs Robot's one was also hilarious as was the Artist Gai picture. The Kimimaro one where Kimi has a tantrum after Gaara figures out his bone pun was funny as was the way Itachi was jealous of Gai.

Oh and Peanuts style Sasuke and Sakura was funny too XD I bet Naruto's poor ol charlie brown. And what the heck is Gaara doing dressed as Sakura? XD

Oh! And CSL2 Sasuke doing the show white mirror scene was funny too. Of course Itachi is always more fair than him. Oh and the "what would happen if Sasuke returned as if nothing ever happened" one was one of the funniest I've ever seen... though Sasuke looks like a simpson's character.

The dub is horrid... today they ruined Ussop's supposed death at the hands of Nami by using a "rubber knife" That SO beats Helmeppo's hammer gun. But well Kunia being sent to the hospital is still the worst edit EVER!

And the art style is actually very good. Once you get past the art style and enjoy the story it's really good.

Nick? Those NaruHina fans? It's quite simple, it's the fanfiction. I used to be a NaruHina fan, so I know that after reading enough fanfics, for a while there NaruHina, SasuSaku, NejiTen etc Did seem "obvious", as in, you're so used to seeing it, that you don't put it into question anymore. Of course, after a while it all started sounding fishy to me. NaruHina always had Naruto suddenly leaving Sakura for no good reason, suddenly falling in love with Hinata for no good reason, then many had Naruto become Super-powerful (Kyuubi as a sensei + two bloodlines + who knows what else) while Hinata became a weakling who saves "Naruto thanks to the power of her heart" but not before needing rescuing because she gets kidnapped by the main villain for the 100th time. ARGH.

Then I got into a NaruHina vs NaruSaku debate with Aethos. I decided not to be biased and try to look at things from both sides, and I did indeed notice that NaruSaku is the only pairing with Two-sided development. I was quite fed-up of badly written NaruHina fics by then as well (some were well-written, but many... weren't), they were the only Hinata pairing I actually avoided to read by then, but still. Still, the fact is that a number of key scenes could be interpreted both ways. 1. Mostly, it was still possible by then to consider Sakura's changing attitude towards Naruto as sibling affection, while it seemed that 2. Naruto was trying to let go of Sakura since she seemed to want Sasuke more. Of course this didn't mean that Naruto would fully get over her, but there was the possibility. On the other hand, this could be interpreted as him loving her so much that he's willing to give up his own happiness to make her happy. 3. This wasn't scene-based, but NaruHina character-wise would require that Naruto be actually serious and quiet deep down, with his boisterous attitude being nothing but a facade. This wasn't That far-fetched, Naruto did act relatively serious around Hinata after all, with their talk just before the finals of the exams. 4. The fact that Hinata is the last person to see off Naruto may have seen as a willingness by the writer to make the two grow closer. However... it would need to be confirmed with Hinata being the First to greet him when he comes back.

So at that point, having thought up by myself that NaruSaku is the only pairing with two-sided development, though some key scenes could still be open to interpretation, I decided to wait but was warming up to NaruSaku. I must have started hanging out around this fc around then. Then 245 happened. And the answer to the above is:
1. Eh, Sakura's attitude with Naruto? Doesn't look like sibling affection to me.
2. Naruto letting go of Sakura? Nah.
3. Eh, I guess I was wrong then. Deep-down, Naruto really Is that loud.
4. Where's Hinata?

So duh. The ambiguous scenes were now Heavily tilting the NaruSaku interpretation. So here am I now. But as you see, NaruSaku had been subtle up to then. You could say that for 245 chapters, people failed to see NaruSaku so were very slow to switch mentalities. Ah well.

Oh by the way, about the latest chapter:

I Still think Kisame went out rather quick... No Samehada revelation? No making use of his Huge chakra supply? Meh. Though for him to suddenly get back up and start beating up Gai's team Now would seem sudden as well. Especially since there was no tension buildup, so having the good guys seriously hurt Now would not have enough dramatic effect in my opinion. Also, the conclusion of the chapter seems to suggest that Gai has definitely beaten up Kisame. So... here are some possibilities I've thought up:
- another akatsuki member shows up and takes Kisame away. Kisame will confront some of the good guys again later on.
- before leaving, it was mentioned that Kisame was perfect for "that" jutsu. Which jutsu? Maybe it would allow him to be safe?
- or he could really be defeated and we never hear from him again. He's too busy entertaining his harem in the backstages.

What do the rest of you think?

I agree in that Kisame was too hastily defeated, or so Kishi wants us to believe. But now that I think about it, yeah, maybe hes set for a comeback. Then we would see Kisames and the samehadas true purpose or something.

Even if Hinata did have these assumed "Massive titties" underneath her jacket post timeskip, wouldn't that render Naruto's new-found realization and aknowledgement of Hinata shallow and only based on surface-premises? I mean, if Hinata was ALWAYS the one for Naruto like some people complain her to be, then for Naruto to realize this only until after seeing a physical attribute of hers he liked would be stupid and shallow of Naruto. Which does not seem characteristic of him.

Plus, Naruto likes Sakura and she is not "stacked" in that department, so obviously that means zilch to him. As it's been stated too many times before, Hinata's and Naruto's actual RELATIONSHIP has never developed or been further explored, it's only been Hinata's distand admiration for what kind of person he is. Just add in some blushing. She just wants to be like him and likes the type of person he is, but because he's of the opposite sex and she was a young girl, it turned into a little surface crush. It's just like Lee's admiration for Gai, had Gai been a woman or younger, I'm sure Lee would have "blushing" for and around him, and then everyeone could say how meant to be they are 9_9

Hinata is a passive and not assertive person. As much as she admires Naruto, she does not know him like Sakura does, and is not around his "faulty" self like Sakura is. Sakura sees him at his worst, and he does with her, too, and they still put up with each other. Hinata has an image of Naruto that is only based on his spirit in battles and in class. SHe does not know any of his faults.

Question, though...if Hinata's crush on Naruto equivalent to Lee's on Sakura's? Lee is just more extroverted and assertive so he voices it.....but they both don't know the person they crush on that well...well....at least as well as the objects of their desires (and I say this very loosely as I dont think Hinata really likes naruto in that way as much as she thinks she does) know each other?

I converted myself... I just went with manga evidence. Pre-timeskip, I remember stating that the trends were the following:

Hinata -> Naruto: Crush (?), no development.
Naruto -> Hinata: no development.
Sakura -> Naruto: far, but she's getting closer to him.
Naruto -> Sakura: crush, but he seemed willing to let go though it'd pain him (this is something that could be interpreted both ways, only timeskip definitely showed it to be "Naruto would let Sakura go if it'd make her happy, but he'd never get over it himself")
Sakura -> Sasuke: crush, but that's about it.
Sasuke -> Sakura: no feelings, no development, unless you count the very slight acknowledgement of her willingness to help.

245 immediately pointed to the following however:
Naruto -> Sakura: as much affection as always, admiration.
Sakura -> Naruto: now sees him as an equal, affection and admiration.
Sakura -> Sasuke: definitely no more fangirling. Still sees him as a friend and teammate to be saved, but no longer obsessive about him, so I see that as her feelings for him moving away from romance rather than towards.

Hinata? What about Hinata? I still want to see her though. ;_;
