Will Sasuke ever achieve the Mangekyou Sharingan?

Maybe Sasuke will kill Naruto but the Kyubi brings Naruto back to life so Sasuke has the megasharingan and Naruto doesn't die.

well, if he has to kill naruto to attain it, it will most likely be at the end of the series... i dont think that will happen in that way, he will probably attain it in a different way. He states taht he will gain power in his own way, that could mean that he is going to oro, or that he will get the mangekyou in a different way. we will have to wait and see :) .

I'm not sure, but I kind of get the idea that he won't get the mangekyou sharingan. I mean, there is a definite negative stigma attached to it, and Sasuke looks like someone Kishimoto wants to redeem someday. Symbolically and actually, it would be easier to do this is Sasuke didn't obtain a(nother, if you count the curse seal) jutsu that pretty much says he's crossed over to the dark side completely.

Yes something did happen. He first got his sharigan. You cant get the powered up sharigan if you dont have the eyes first. Im guessing if he saved someone else he MIGHT get something stronger than mankeyo sharigan

I think that Sasuke will get the mangekyou sharingan in other way, not killing naruto. I don't know if what Itachi said about killing your best friend is 100% true. Maybe in the Uchiha clan's secret meeting place (Itachi told Sasuke about it in chapter 225, I think it is the place where Sasuke went while Kakashi was been defeated by Itachi in episode 82) there is some information about it.

I know he won't because at in 334(I love this scene) Sasuke realizes that he is doing everything Itachi did and he doesn't want to become the monster that he is so Sasuke won't be Itachi's puppit and fellow his command to kill his best friend. I think in the finally battle of Sasuke vs Itachi that Itachi's Mangekyou Sharingan will some how backfire on him and that is how he will loose(They did say it takes a large amount of energy from the user, maybe he will waste it too much and be left with no charka left).

Another thing I don't like is how every bloodline limit is "the last of its kind" (kimimaru, the ice prison, etc) Would like to see the ultra cool bloodlines (like bone/ice) not completely die out :(

Personally, I don't think Sasuke will obtain a new sharingan by killing Orochimaru. Largely because I don't think he'll be the one to kill Orochimaru. Granted, I'm also the person who thinks that for the sake of not completely contradicting the theme of the story he shouldn't kill Itachi either, but I still don't think he'll kill Orochimaru. He lacks motivation to do so, and Orochimaru offers him power.

Now, getting back on topic, I hope he doesn't obtain the mangekyou sharingan or a new type of sharingan. If he beats Itachi, I'd like to see him do it with no greter level sharingan than the one he has now, and for him to do it for a reason other than revenge (aka he's not really thinking about revenge at the time, but more about helping a friend out).

Actually, that's kind of neat to think about. Maybe it's a sign of changing times? Biologically speaking, in the long run I think most of these bloodlines wold be disadvantageous in that they appear to promote specialization. While in the short run, this gives them an edge over others, in the long run they lack the means to adapt to a changing environment, and die out. Kind of like a doctor who specializes in heart surgery would probably lose his job if a pill that performed heart surgery was developed (improbable pill, yes, I know).

I may be just paranoid but is it really certain that the only way to achieve the Mangekyou Sharingan is by killing your closest friend. I mean the only real evidence is from a person who murdered their own family and left his little brother alive just to basically torture him. Maybe saying that the Mangekyou Sharingan is obtained by killing your closest friend was just a plan of Itachi's so Sasuke would be further tortured. I personally take it upon myself to never trust the insane murders unless I have no choice.

This thread was made three years ago. It's understandable that this was being debated because we only learned of Sasuke gaining Itachi's Mangekou Sharingan techniques last week.

I think Itachi was just talking BS about the kill your friend thing.
It was a technique he used to make sure that Sasuke never got to friendly with anyone in Konoha.

Kakashi getting it should make it obvious imo.

Will he get MS? Seems pretty likely, after all the praise he has got from Oro and Madara regarding his eyes.
