Yeah, Trigun Maximum is the sequel.
But if you watched the anime, Trigun Maximum is basically episodes 14-25.

The manga not only takes the anime and steps on it, it craps on it afterwards and then flushes the damned thing down the toilet. Basically, the manga owns.
Five volumes of Maximum out so far in english.

Well I believe it's still running in Young King Ours monthly as Trigun Maximum.

Trigun Maximum is the best, although hard to come by where I'm from. I've only read up to volume 4 in maximum, however I know it shits on the anime well and good.(And comeing form me thats a big statement because Trigun is my favorate anime.)

This manga was amazing but ended weird with the one and two books.
The manga hasn't ended....
I believe the case with Trigun Maximum is that it had to switch names due to the fact that it was serialized in a certain magazine. After it changed to the current one they couldn't use "Trigun" for legal reasons.
I "think", not 100% sure but I think that's the case. So not really a new series just the same with a new name I guess...
Well that's the reason acording to ANN.

Yeh everyone says that Triguns ending is weird in the manga but it just goes onto 'Trigun Maximum'
I've read all Trigun and the first Trigun Maximum, also i've seen the english dubbed anime and it's pretty good. And Vashs voice is so hawt!!!!!!!!

In the English dub of Trigun, Vash was voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch. This is the same person who played Adam, the Asian black ranger, in the Power Rangers show/movie. I found that to be interesting cause when I first watched Trigun I knew I had heard his voice from somewhere before.

i'm digging up this old thread b/c i don't want to start a new one even though the search turned up no results.
i was just looking over the releases for TriMax and there hasn't been a Japanese release since December of 2004 (volume 11). some sites say that so far it has enough for 14 volumes, but i find it really odd that its been over a year since the last compiled version was released.
does anyone know why its taken so long?
i know nightow has had problems with his publisher going under before (hence the name change to "maximum") but i can't seem to find any information on this current "hiatus."

I've enjoyed reading the manga and everything. Though personally I prefer the anime. From what I understand, the manga just ends without ever really finishing. That is unless its still being published.

The anime ended rather abruptly as well, though I loved it.
It was the first anime series I ever watched all the way through.

I didn't think it was abrupt at all. I thought it was a perfect ending to the whole Trigun saga.

at the risk of sounding like a jerk, can anyone answer my question?

This is just going by the impression I've gotten from Japanese speaking Trigun fans on other forums, but I think that while the volumes aren't coming out, chapters are still appearing in YKO. Nightow strikes me as the lazy type though, so it's quite possible that their appearences are increasingly rarer. The reasoning behind the lack of volume releases... God only knows.
Don't quote me on this, I could be totally wrong.

Well they are still releasing volumes monthly in the US at least. When they catch up though...

Legato Bluesummers>>>Every person in Trigun...he defeated Vash in the Anime ;)

that was a great, intense moment. i give the anime writers a lot of credit for that one. its an anime-only event, though.

I think Legato was so much better in the anime than he was in the manga.

Yeah, I liked Midvalley better in the manga too. In the anime, he was in it for like, 3 seconds, lol.

(thanks for the quasi answer, btw :) )
the manga adds a whole lot more to the characters (well...i guess legato didn't get so much...just the eating lots of food part), but i find the action sequences nearly impossible to follow. that's my only gripe, but when compared to Hellsing or most other action-driven manga, nightow's art is a bit...sloppy? the story is good enough to keep me reading, though, so i can't complain too much.
