Yep, it's definitely among classics like Thunder Cats and Transformers. Cartoons these days can't even hope to compare to those shows. :noworry

I think I vaguely remember the CGI series. If I recall correctly, the colors of the robots were black with hints of the original colorts. I guess it was to look 'cool and edgy'.

Looking back, this was a bit campy and was a very watered down dub. But, I did like it as a kid and the voltron movie sounds interesting.

Lol, yea, the dub was really watered back. I recall the guy dressed in black (sorry, I'm really bad with names) getting injured or sick and then permanently goes the hospital. When I was little, I was like, "When's he coming back?"

I loved watching this show as a kid. I remember having the toys. Still wish I kept them. :(

you can probably find the Anniversary edition at a collectors shop for a decent price. Its got all five lions (each one INSANELY detailed) and the sword. if i remember correctly its all metal as well.

I grew up on Voltron dubs (lions!), it was the first anime I ever watched. My parents used to buy me VHS tapes with some episodes....it was impossible to get a hold of it any other way.
A few months ago someone uploaded all the old episodes on rapidshare on some forum....I downloaded those I missed as a kid and I loved it all over again. By todays standards it's not much, but I still love it to death.
Too bad the dubbed version was so watered down (Sven died lulz, he didn't get injured), they also cut out all the blood and gore that original Voltron had.
It could be that I just remember it that way because I was a child, but to me Voltron has soul, unlike most animes of today.

There's something about watching Voltron and Thunder Cats that I find incredibly satisfying about (even though the animation sucks compared to today really and the dialogue is a little cheesy).
I personally think I continue to watch those shows because they were a big part of my childhood.
But hey Voltron rocks, still does as it was an original idea.
