Hey! Hey! PL here to announce that I've now been given ownership of the Sailor Senshi FC. ^__^ Over the next few days I'll be rebuilding the FC (mainly first post) with banners (thanks Kira XD) and such. ^^

Fact is, if it wasn't for the dub, I would have never seen or heard of the show. And I loved watching it on weekday afternoons or early in the morning. It's just that it feels weird watching the dubs especially the earlier ones where they chopped a few episodes out or merged a couple of them together.

Well, I always hoped the series would be brought to the U.S. but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Which is no problem for me since the dub VAs for S and SS were painfull annoying (especially Usagi's VA >_<)

Sure thing, mate. In my very humble opinion it goes more like this;

Sailor Moon SuperS> Sailor Star > Sailor Moon R> Sailor Moon S> Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon S had its moments, but in all honesty Sailor Moon is at its best when using humour and showcasing the relationship between the girls and Sailor Moon S was one of the weaker seasons in that sense. Action sequences in Sailor Moon, due to the style and age of the series, were never terribly well done outside the movies and the drama has to be carefully balanced with humour or it ends up coming off as more maudlin than genuinely moving. Sailor S also had one of the least satisfying endings off all the series with the major boss fight happening OFFSCREEN which failed to live up to all the build up. Add to this the fact I just didn't like most of the outer senshi (aside from Uranus) and you end up with a series that feels pretty anti climatic.

Sailor Moon SuperS, aside from the focus on Chibiusa, is exactly what I personally was looking for in Sailor Moon, lots of humour, lots of heart and decent animation. The interactions between the baddies, especially the Amazon Trio, eclipsed almost every other relationship in past seasons and made the series twice as endearing to me. Though I admit I could be speaking from a bias as it was also the first Sailor Moon series, in fact the first anime, I had ever seen in its original Japanese. Such things are likely to influence the way you veiw a series, no matter how hard you try to prevent it.

Sailor Moon R and Sailor Star both had great ending episodes and plots that were dark in tone without being overwhelming. The episode where the Starlights, the Outer Senshi and the Metel Senshi all end up in Usagi's tiny house is one of my top five favourite episodes.

Sailor Moon SuperS> Sailor Star > Sailor Moon R> Sailor Moon S> Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon S had its moments, but in all honesty Sailor Moon is at its best when using humour and showcasing the relationship between the girls and Sailor Moon S was one of the weaker seasons in that sense. Action sequences in Sailor Moon, due to the style and age of the series, were never terribly well done outside the movies and the drama has to be carefully balanced with humour or it ends up coming off as more maudlin than genuinely moving. Sailor S also had one of the least satisfying endings off all the series with the major boss fight happening OFFSCREEN which failed to live up to all the build up. Add to this the fact I just didn't like most of the outer senshi (aside from Uranus) and you end up with a series that feels pretty anti climatic.

Sailor Moon SuperS, aside from the focus on Chibiusa, is exactly what I personally was looking for in Sailor Moon, lots of humour, lots of heart and decent animation. The interactions between the baddies, especially the Amazon Trio, eclipsed almost every other relationship in past seasons and made the series twice as endearing to me. Though I admit I could be speaking from a bias as it was also the first Sailor Moon series, in fact the first anime, I had ever seen in its original Japanese. Such things are likely to influence the way you veiw a series, no matter how hard you try to prevent it.

Sailor Moon R and Sailor Star both had great ending episodes and plots that were dark in tone without being overwhelming. The episode where the Starlights, the Outer Senshi and the Metel Senshi all end up in Usagi's tiny house is one of my top five favourite episodes.

Uh....can I join the fanclub if it's not any trouble?

The reasons why I'm not a SuperS fan:

1. Lack of outer Sailor Senshi
2. For some reason Pegasus really annoyed me O_O
3. Chibusa's call for Pegasus seemed really irritating (it's even worse in dubbed form)
4. The relationship beteween Pegesus and Chibusa

It's saving graces:

1. Amazon Quartet...I love there theme music (which in the future become the sailor Quartet--manga version only)
2. Sailor Moon attack sequence...(IMO, was the best one of the entire series...too bad the source was pegasus)

Sailor Moon S:

I loved the series, because it introduces the outer senshi cast in it's entirety...including chibimoon. I loved the backdrop of Hotaru's background and the rift between Uruanus/Neptune and the Inner Senshi. It added a bit of spice from the standard genre of sailor Senshi w/ Tuxedo Mask versus the enemy. This time they had other Scouts as there adversaries for unknown reasons.

Sailor Moon Stars

My all-time favorite series. My favorite episode had to be the one where the Starlights and the inner senshi found out about one another's identity. I've replayed that episode alone numerious times. The episode where there fighting inside Usagi's house is also priceless *points to spoiler tag*

The Starlights and chibi chibi as well as the new enemies being sailor senshi made the series very interesting and placed yet another spin in the series to keep it from being repeptitive.

R and Classic were also great series in there own right and was responsible for building up the series to where it's at today, so I have no complaints. Although I really loved the doom tree saga...for some reason, it seemed like the most entertaining arc of either series.

meh..those are just my opinions :P

Granted there is a kind of creepy element to it, his being a horse and all (or at least so she thought when she intially fell for him) but we're talking about the same girl whose other love interests include her father, a sugar fairy and a transvestite tea server. Considering the fact that Usagi and Mamoru's relationship is also a little creepy (just how much older than she is he exactly?) yet is considered one of the greatest love stories in anime, I'm willing to give Pegasus and Chibiusa a little wiggle room. Though it's perfectly understandable if it creeps other people out.

Heh, I actually wasn't a huge fan of the Quartet. It wasn't that I disliked them or anything, it was just that after the fun of the Trio they were a bit of a letdown. Just another set of squabbling sisters, just like R. Though they did have cool character designs.

Yeah, that would affect whether you like a series or not. I love all the outers (Neptune, Uranus, Pluto and especially Saturn), So, that plays a heavy influence on my likes. So, any series that doesn't have them automatically gets a downgrade, hence why I rated SS so low.

Yeah, I know that Elysian true form is that of a young man/boy, but the whole part of her falling for him even in his pegasus form kinda creeped me out :S

That episode as well as the one where they were on the lake really confused me, since in the manga there actually girls in disguise but the anime flipped the script and now there guys transforming into girls :S

Ah, understandable. I personally enjoy yaoi/shonen ai, so I found that aspect of Fisheye's character fun but I can see how it would turn some fans off. I actually just got a huge kick out of their seiyuu, Akira Ishida is still a favourite of mine.

I actually haven't read the Sailor Star manga (as well as the final volume in SuperS) but I heard it was quite different. I generally did not like the manga as much as the anime because a lot of the minor characters (especially the villians) did not get fleshed out that much. About the only thing I liked better about the manga was Mamoru, who came off as a very romantic, caring and noble male lead, compared to the anime where I always thought he was a bit of a tool. The art in the manga is nice though, especially the coloured pics.

So, can anyone list their favourite episodes? With so many to choose from it's hard, but I like;

The afore mentioned one with the Starlights and Outer senshi in Usagi's house when her parents are away, the episode of SuperS where Minako is two timing Hawk's Eye and Tiger's Eye, the two episodes where Usagi and the Senshi go up against Queen Beryl in the original season and maybe the episode where Nephrite dies, I'm not sure....

Great episode as Minako, is trying her hardest to get her pure heart stolen because she was jealous that everyone else but her was targeted. As soon as her heart crystal came out she grabbed it and starred it and ran away with it with Kaorinite in hot pursuit xDD
Not to mention that the sailor scouts identities were revealed in the process O_O

127. Self-Awareness as a Soldier! Strength Lies in the Pure Heart

I like this final episode just for the simple fact that Uranus and Neptune had challenege sailor moon...and she for once seemed competent while fighting :S

Episode 188

The fact that the Sailor Moon and all the other sailor Scouts identities were revealed, as well as those of the starlights. I must have watched that episode more than 20 times.

Episode 197

Uranus and Neptune basically selling their souls and turning on Pluto and Saturn :spaz

I know the ultimate plan was to find an open opportunity to attack Galaxia, but still, I had goosebumps after watching that epsiode.

I liked the episode where Fish eyes found out about Pegasus true owner and her with the help of her comardes restore Usagi's Dream Mirror

Ohh, pretty banners!

Just out of curiosity, what's everyone's favourite fuku/costume design for Sailor Moon? I always liked the SuperS one as I liked the simple white with the rainbow trim. Then I liked the classic look and lastly Eternal Sailor Moon. That last costume just looked way too busy and awkward, well, like in that .gif posted earlier where Usagi kept knocking things over with her wings.

Also I may not like the Outers too much, but I think Neptune and Saturn have the nicest colour schemes on their costumes (then I like Mars) and Saturn has the best boots. I know it's fantasy but I can't stand the way Mars, Venus and Neptune fight in heels. Saturn's boots are just cool.

I have to admit that Sailor Moon's SS costume was the best design despite that series being my least favorite one.

My second favorite sailor moon costume would have to be the original. For some reason,I just wasn't feeling the Eternal Sailor Moon design. I didn't like the frills on her skirt much and the color scheme, IMO.

My overall favorite character in looks, costume design and weapon accessory would have to be Sailor Saturn. She just eminates "coolness" in her sailor senshi form.

But in just the "looks" department, Sailor Venus/Minako, takes the cake. I always though she had the best looks, IMO :love

and yeah, the high heels part always annoyed me >_<
Jupiter has the perfect boots/shoes for fighting while Mars high heels, always had me wondering if she took the job seriously :laugh

Yes, Eyeshield 21 is my newest obsession and I've read the latest chapter (Agon is going down! Though I bet he's gonna flip out and cripple someone before the match is over...just seems like something he'd do) I just adore the cracky randomness of the series. You're a fan too? Yay! The world needs more Eyeshield 21 love.

Saturn does have one of the best, if not the best, design. Did we ever see her transformation sequence? I seem to recall her transforming in Star, but I'm not sure if it was a full scene or not. Ah well. I admit one of my favourite scenes in Sailor Moon is when Hotaru turns from Mistress Nine into Sailor Saturn with her cry of 'Because I have....beloved ones!' or something. It was just a nifty scene. Great, now I wish I hadn't left my tapes at school ;__;

The dub cut out episodes from the first two seasons, but then when they dubbed the third season, they began using the original episode numbers, so in the dub, there really isn't any 83-89. In the original, the second season ended with episode 89.

Dic really did a number on the first two seasons (72 episodes to be exact).

Thank goodnews they lost the rights to Sailor Moon S and SS, so cloverway was allowed to take over and keep as much of the story as possible.

Uncut boxsets for season 1 and 2 are available to purchase but their not subtitled :-(

I think Dic might still have the dub rights to the original series. (classic and R)

Ah Sailormoon. This anime brings back so many memories. This was the first anime that honestly got me hooked on anime itself. I used to remember waking up early to watch the DIC dub.

My 2 favorite senshi would probably be:
1. Sailormoon - I've always had a soft spot for main characters. Besides, I think she has the most character growth throughout the series. Compare Usagi in Classic with the Usagi in Sailor Stars. Big difference.

2. Sailor Venus - She's pretty, and she'd always good for a laugh. I think she is probably the funniest senshi of them all.

From what I gather though, Sailor Mercury was the most popular senshi in both Japan and the USA. I wonder why is that?

Really? Because I've heard that Sailor Mercury was consistently the most popular Sailor Senshi in Japan. I think thats what they say in Wikipedia too.

Anyway, on the issues of which season I like most, I would say I like Stars the best. Usagi seemed really mature, and there was real romantic/sexual tension between Seiya and Usagi. This has been missing between Mamorou and Usagi for a while now. SS wasn't that bad. As Booster Beetle said, it had good moments of character interaction and it was funny. My main gripe with it was that they dumbed down Usagi in order to make Chibi-Usa look smart. Sure Usagi was not exactly the sharpest person out there, but they really made her look and act like an immature idiot. Thankfully, Stars rectified the problem by having her deal with a long-distance relationship and such.

What do you think about the anime decision to have teh Starlights change genders? I think it might have been better if they just had them stay as males.
