Is there really such a thing as a filler charater

As I have been read though the threads I have notices that everyone clames that some of the charaters are just filler. I am sure there is a thread asking which charater is the most pointless. I want to share my opinon now. I think that none of them are filler charaters. Some of them may not have a very big part but think about how not having those charaters would change everything. So I would like to know what you think would happen if the took out one charater.

Well there are some characters that are truly filler, in this context basically meaning fodder. They may not be filler in terms of in the Naruto Universe as everyone has a role in some way, but in terms of the series's plotline that is a different story. One of the examples may be the old man in the Genin exams. [Who I have nicknamed Norman as it seems fitting]

The only characters that are truly filler are those that appear in episodes which were never in the manga. So only characters that Kishi didn't create are filler.

You have got to love that crow...Lol...really Fish girl is filler but she's a good character, hell even one of the seven swordsmen was filler taken from canon. Like KY said though people throw around the word filler to much, like saying Tenten is filler when she's canon. A filler character is only one who did not appear in the manga.

So what if they die, they played a big part while alive let pay some respect people.

My thoughts exactly, some people are ignorant to the fact that these "filler" characters truly don't exist. If someone exists in the manga that does not contribute to the plot in any shape way or form, then they are there as a means to show that people exist in the Naruto universe apart from our main characters. You could say, the people you see walking around Konoha are filler, but are they? No.

Oh yeah, people will do that because it is a way to degrade characters they simply do not like. But yeah, generally the other unnamed characters who don't die are filler, the ones who do are fodder.
