hmmm, how about The Doors - The End ?
the fact that it was the track that started and finished Apocalypse Now should speak for itself

The first song that came to my mind was Ride the Wings of Pestilence by First to Last for obvious reasons. I don't know if that's what you're looking for or not.

Then there's also Burn in Hell by Error. I don't like the song, but it might fit the theme.

And then there's also Black City by Division of Laura Lee. I think that would fit for sure, but for not I'm only uploading the First to Last song.

mow
06-23-2005, 02:51 PM
Okay, now if everyone can upload said songs they nominateed (use megaupload.com as it allows for unlimited d/ls). And send them to me. I'll zip them up and send them to everyone to then nominatee songs to remove from the lists. Songs with most amount of disapproval get the boot

oh and can some one do me a favour and d/l :

GodSpeed You!Black Emporer - The Dead Blue Flags (First Movement) The Deadflag Blues (Intro) (0:00 - 6:37)

I have the cd, but the original song is 18 minutes, and I only want the first movment( GSY!BE divides their songs into movements)

Voynich
06-23-2005, 02:57 PM
I'll try to find it moe. Let's hope soulseek has it >.>

I can only find the damned 18 min version -_-;; So if someone has a music editing program? XD

To all those interested in the song, this is how its broken down

(Second Movement) Slow Moving Trains (6:37 - 10:10)

Doesn't matter, cause i searched on "godspeed" ...still only 18 min songs.

( and weird enough "godspeed" gave me silver mt. zion albums @.@)

mow
06-23-2005, 03:15 PM
That's cause Silver moutn Zion is a side-roject by the members of GSY!BE :amuse.

anyhow, the song you sent me is freaking brilliant :amazed!

hmmmm........
well Moe, I really liked *, should defo be on the mix tape. I'm not so sure about Car chase terror though. Althought it ties in fairly well with the theme, wasn't really my thing.

edit: I was thinking about suggesting Ghost Town by the Specials, just to mix things up a bit. Give me the word and I'll send you it

mow
06-23-2005, 04:36 PM
Yeah, I hade the same thoughs (as did Maho) it's haunting, and would fit better ina nightmare theme :amuse

And send it =]

Voynich
06-23-2005, 05:07 PM
Ghost Town should so be in, it's one of my fav oldies. It might be a nice change, since most suggestions are leaning to the metal side.

mow
06-23-2005, 05:24 PM
I suggest

Wham! - Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go

...

komrade_smith
06-23-2005, 05:26 PM
yeah, although it's quite haunting, there's a little bit of humour to Ghost Town as well, which has been a bit lacking in the other suggestions

You get my PM Moe?

............whats apocalyptical about Wham? XD

Catatonik
06-23-2005, 05:31 PM
The fact they actually got a record deal, first sign of the Apocalypse ;)

Maybe Pink Floyd's the Dogs of War. Isn't that the name of the song? We could do a 4 Horseman thing or something. What were they? War, pestilence, disease... death or something? I don't know if I have that album on my computer, but it is in my car. Which one was it on? Division Bell or Momentary Lapse of Reason? If someone could upload that one for me...

Aquabats - Chemical Bomb
Goldfinger - 99 Red Balloons (The original is actually by Nina, but I reeeally don't like that version...)

I vote for Hughie Charles -- "We'll Meet Again" as the last track. It's the song that played at the end of the movie "Dr. Strangelove."

Secondly, Black Sabbath -- Electric Funeral

Because this list needs some Sabbath.

Edit: Vera Lynn sang "We'll Meet Again," but Hughie Charles wrote it, if I am not mistaken.

mow
06-24-2005, 09:59 PM
Im pretty sure charles wrote it.

anyhow, you guys and gals know the trick now, pm me which ever songs you feel should be added ;]

This is a fucking great idea, this will speed up getting into diffrent band and which ones will be added to the check out list.

I actually long until tomorrow so that I can check out these recommendations. It's gonna be great, and I'll be sure to give it my post rock workover.

You're also being reped for this moe, sure you have an insane amount of rep , but it's the tought that counts.

With foobar2000 (http://www.foobar2000.org/), you can do stuff like normalize each song. However, it doesn't actually edit the file, it just stores the effects in the ID3 tag. Also, you can burn CD's of the songs with the effects that were stored in the ID3 tag. That's what I plan on doing with it.

I'm sorting through the others as I type. There's one that reminded me of a song that in retrospect would have been perfect for this list.
I can't remember which of the new Zombie movies it was- but it had a Lounge version of Down with the Sickness - O.M.G. Anyway, despite it being far too late, I thought I'd say that. :laugh
