If there is a Jutsu (Edo Tensei) to bring back the dead such as Oro had, why not use it to bring back all those wanted that have died? Kabuto could even:

Bring back his master Orochimaru, and after that, Oro himself could make modifications on himself. he's inhabited bodies before. *Spoiler tag it if you want to talk about this.* Also J-man, Itachi and so on. though it's more fitting to Oro's style. I'm shocked Kabuto has not thought of this when Oro used it and was going to use it for Tsunade's brother.

What are your thoughts? Remember to spoiler tag what you need to.

Edit:

Kuchiyose • Edo Tensei is a Ninjutsu technique which had been forbidden because of its dark nature. The technique involves the summoning of dead souls from the afterlife back into the real world. Normally Kuchiyose (summoning) involves the use of the caster's blood as compensation for summoning, Edo Tensei is different though. The ninja will first sacrifice a living person to provide the vessel that the dead soul will inhabit. The dead body will then be incased in ash and dirt to resemble the soul of the person that was resurrected. When the ninja wishes to recall the souls, a portal will open in the ground and the caskets holding the bodies will appear. When the caskets open the bodies will be grey and in a state of minor decay. At this point the dead souls are able to remember their past life, but they are at the command of the one who summoned them.

But aren't they all corpse like and weird? And then if you restore them they become mindless puppets?

But yeah, Orochimaru could probably just fix himself up. And it's not like Kabuto would have a problem with sacrificing another human (although that's probably one reason why others don't use it).

orchimaru said that he can bring back the dead with a jutsu.
*BUT*
He clearly says that to bring the dead to life, You must have two people to sacrifice.
Aha, never saw that coming huh? lol

Because it is made hax! Like using a substitution jutsu when it actually matters! XD

But really, I don't know. I mean they are wiped of their free will. But they still have their own personalities and such as we saw from the first two Hokage. We do mostly assume they aren't as strong as the originals, but I didn't pay it enough attention to even noticed if that was explained. They has their skills and experience, but I think in the end not having their bodies meant they were lacking a good chunk of themselves. Besides, the lack of free will probably is limiting on their abilities and what they can do, although it doesn't really ever explain what all this free will stuff is anyway.

Yes, he did. I'm asking why its not used to bing important dead characters back.

Several reasons come to mind:

1) The requirement of a sacrifice.
2) You need someone that actually knows how to perform the jutsu.
3) There might be other limitations. In the fight between Orochimaru and Sandaime, Orochimaru only bothered to ressurect the past Hokages during the fight. If these ressurections were permanent, why not bring them back to use them during the invasion? Unless it's a plot hole, this leads me to believe Orochimaru's technique has a finite duration.
4) The circumstances of the death might also be a factor. Someone who died of old age might not be available.

The passage in question you are referring to was two bodies for the return or her lover and her brother. It's a 1 for 1 exchange.

i think it's because orochimaru never really died. he was sealed away in the alternate dimension in which he performs the ritual, and was later on sealed in itachi's unbreakable genjutsu. can you revive someone stuck in a genjutsu? no, because they never died.

but if i could i would bring back itachi. wouldn't that spice things up?

Because it isn't truly bringing them back and it requires a sacrifice.

Why would the people you care about want to be brought back in that way?

QFT. Reminds me a lot of the resurrection stone in HP, could drive people to suicide because they want to truly be with them again.

It's a forbidden sacrifice, right? How many people actually know how to perform the technique? That's probably the major limiting factor, and those that do know it are probably high-ranking and have taken an oath or something like that not to use something as immoral as that.

Nobody saves the dead ones, because it'd be a hole in the plot >:(
If every dead person could simply be brought back, the whole plot would fall apart O__O

Well, to answer your question, Kabuto knows that Oro would be under his control, and he prefers Oro being in command.

^ That's the main reason, really. The person you bring back, no matter how great they are, is still under someone else's command. There's no point reviving someone great if all their greatness is under someone not-as-great's control.
