being realistic,everyone knows itachi has sharingan and kakuzu is part of everyone so he is aware of the sharingan not mangekyou but itachi knows nothing bout kakuzu just that he has fought shodai and lived to tell the story. Who'd win?

I know many people are probably going to attack me, but I think Amaterasu would be roughly neutralized by Kakuzu's monstrous and continuous elemental jutsu... but, even if Kakuzu took a direct hit, that wouldn't kill him (can't see Amaterasu taking out five hearts, when Naruto's half-Rasenshuriken only took out two).

Itachi would have to use Susanoo, but from then on, it's a quick and decisive victory.

U people r forgetting that Kakuzu has all five elemental chakra nd he is just as old as madara or even older n using the same logic that pple use for madara, he has alot of time to get killa techniques. He must hav many more things hidden than wat he showed in battle with konoha nins.
But it'll be a draw to me. I dnt see Itachi killin kakuzu five times nd there is obviously experience difference between them.

One question before I answer. Would genjutsu work on Kakuzu's hearts if seperated from his body?

Itachi IC would probably lose. He would probably begin with Genjutsu or a clone and then Genjutsu. Kakuzu would break out with one of his masks overpowering the illusion, as Itachi closed in for a quick stab or explosion. If he stabbed (as with Kakashi), his weapon would bounce off Kakuzu, he'd be surprised and probably grabbed, as easily as Kakashi was. From there, Amaterasu in close range would kill him as well and he'd be tentacle-raped.

If Itachi leads off with an explosion, Kakuzu will ignore it with Iron Skin. Itachi might try to use Amaterasu as the masks are released, and Kakuzu could probably escape by blocking it with a Katon and diving into the water, as he's very fast (possibly matching Sasuke). The water could slow down the flame and Kakuzu could take cover, then blitz to the statue head and start firing elementals. Itachi doesn't have a good way to block attacks of that level without mutiple Amaterasu's, and he can't keep that up.

I don't think Susan'o would scratch Iron Skin, as it was never said to be remarkably sharp. I doubt he could hit Kakuzu with it anyway.

it doesnt take time for amatersu to be used.. when he used it the 1st time, there where no hand seal, and he used it in an instant while running.... the second time he used it took a minute bcuz 1. he was sick, 2. he was holding back to give sasake a chance to do something, 3. he was feeling the after effects of tsukuyomi being broken.

IMHO all of the MS abilities can happen as fast as the user can blink

With basic skill alone, Itachi could at least put up a fight against Kakuzu. An even fight. He might not have any real way of injuring him, but he would definitely avoid all his attacks with ease and lead him into traps and exploding clone feints and shit like that. Of course, he'll be forced to use Amaterasu to end the fight.

This is, of course, assuming that Kakuzu's multiple hearts grant him alternate chakra networks/alternate chakra (I think they do). Otherwise, simple Genjutsu rape does the trick, as always.

Kakuzu has shit against susanoo, yata mirror deflect all his attacks, sword of totsuka seals him into a heavenly genjutsu stronger than tsukiyomi. wtf can kakuzu do against that? Nothing. A healthy Itachi who's not holding back ends the fight the instant kakuzu looks into his eyes, he won't even have to resort to amaterasu or Susanoo. Also Amaterasu doesn't take a long time to charge up- look at Jiraiya vs Itachi and Kisame- he used it pretty quickly although not instantly.
