This has become a social problem and these people are frowned upon as a result. Rikuo, who has taken androids for granted for his entire life, one day he discovers that Sammy, his home android, has been acting strangely and finds a strange phrase recorded in her activity log. He, along with his friend Masaki, trace Sammy's footsteps and come upon an unusual cafe. This cafe's main rule is to not discriminate between humans and androids.

Time of Eve kinda resembles me of Makoto Shinkai's works (5 Centimeter, The Place We Promised in our Early Days), at least animation wise (maybe not as beautiful though.). At least the cast seems interesting and the plot.

I've just seen the first ep.
This is pretty good, and your right is does look like some Makoto Shinkai work.
I like the cafe where the rings aren't there, makes you wonder about what exactly you are seeing and if the differences between man and android are even that big.
Any idea when we will see the next episode?

This was pretty interesting. I was really impressed with how the story was presented. It was a right balance of surrealism and realism.

I would've liked it more if the video size wasn't so small. It really doesn't do the art any justice at all.

I'll check it out right away! Judging by the picture, the art and animation seems to be superb.

The first ep was definitely interesting. Great art style, but I bet that I'll be able to predict this entire series down to a T. Hopefully though, I'll be proved wrong.

I so want to see the second episode whenever it airs. It sure was an interesting take on dealing with the ethics involved when the boundary between humans and androids become blurred.

However, the first time I saw Akiko I automatically assumed she was an android without hesitation, while Rikou and Misaki didn't really assume that even though they had just earlier learned that the androids halos don't appear in that cafe thus you really can't tell whose who...

In any case, I'm looking forward to see in how this series develop.

Is this show depressing?

After watching the first episode it doesn't appear to be so...but you can never really tell how it develops after the first episode. It just brings to light some interesting questions that everyone has like "what it truly means to be human" but does so in a way that kinda pulls the audience in. I wouldn't say it's depressing at all and has it's light moments such as Akiko's introduction.

And I got all this from a 15 minute episode :awesome

I would think pointing out her performance as Chii in Chobits would have been more appropiate. You know, since it's dealing with a similiar premise.

This is clearly a gem I have been looking for. Its art work drew me in but its plot and writing sealed the deal. These shorter episodes and wonderful plot almost make me want to say the second coming of FLCL (in terms of quality). I will have to wait for more and hope it continues you suck me in.

Not to make any discrimination but...

Who, of the people mentioned in the Eve cafe, do you think are andriod's?
So far the following people have been mentioned.

Akiko. (the talkative girl)
Nagi. (the bartender of the eve cafe)
Setoru. (could be the guy on the couch reading)
Shimei. (the person on the second floor)
Chiya. (the little girl on the second floor)
Kou. (the first half of the couple)
Rina. (the second half of the couple)

post your suspicions.

Akiko was already confirmed to be an android in episode 1. Remember her at the end when Rikou was in class and saw the halo.

I did see but posting that would be a spoiler wouldn't it? smile-big
I'm trying to get some conversation started in this thread as I'm really liking this show.
So, I think Nagi may actually be human. se is being portrayed as a android with the weird stuff she has been doing like hiding behind the pole with a really weird face, but I think she's human.

Akiko smile-big was acting really lifelike and was actually a Android.

I'm still wondering when the episodes are gonna keep getting released, haven't seen anything for a time. I'm so eager to see how this is gonna be turning out, I guess it'll only be released every few weeks. Then in the end it combines into a movie, like 5 Centimeters.

If only the episodes weren't so short and so far apart :cry

Well, at least Rikou was able to see Sammi at that spot, but the rule of having the door locked for a specified amount of time is good thinking given that they want to protect the privacy of the customers. But at the end it certainly looked like something major was brewing and don't mean the coffee :pek

Oh, I like the style of this, and very vaguely reminded me of Chobits, so tried it out. The animation has a nice clean style to it and has interesting things with the movement of the shots. Ethics Committee and that snip of a commercial with the tomato sure was unnerving. Anyway, I assumed Akiko was one, but it still was nicely done. Wonder if the sister is going to be perpetually drunk. I'll watch the second episode after getting some food. :3

Really curious about Masaki's past now with that little shot of him as a kid. Definitely good idea with the door. Yay about liking the coffee, that was a sweet scene.

"[...]I would merely like to announce my intention to release the subtitles for Eve no Jikan Act 03, when it comes out in December. Hopefully, this will clear up some of the confusion as to what’s going down with this anime. That said, the release will ONLY be for the subtitles. That is, I will not be providing a torrent or an encoded video file for the episode. The reuse policy for the subtitles will remain the same, however, though I am not endorsing or collaborating with anyone else with this."

I WANT a Cinema Tide, I don't care that such things don't exist. D: It is awesome. Anyway, this episode was really well done, just like the other two. I liked watching the two guys figuring out what the truth was and wow, did Rina have some er...dangerous cleavage. I thought she was going to kick him when he saw her leg or something.

Anyone else want to slap the people the way they're treating their androids?

Maybe I've missed something, but I'm a little confused...

Now that Rikuo has found out about Sammy - why does she still act all 'android-y' around him - even when they're alone?

This is a great series so far - It's a shame it's only a ONA

Only time will tell..... dun dun dun :notrust

IMO, its because society frowns on dorikei, and since Rikuo and his sister and his mum are in the house, and his sister is hating on dorikei, Rikuo can't confess his true feelings for Sammy.:amazed

I've become a dorikei watching this...:nuts

I really wish that the episodes came with greater regularity, I keep barely remembering such a lovely series. The music that came on whenever the old robot did something was awesome. Reminded me of Terminator only as an old man. xD And yeah, the ending was sadly sweet.

That old model was incredibly creepy but it was sad to see it try so hard to assert it's humanity and attempt to reclaim it's lost memories. I have to admit I felt a bit sad towards the end of that episode. :(

There was a couple of humorous scenes, especially when Chie-chan arrived and started referring to herself as a cat thus confusing that robot even further :lmao

woot! *downloads and rewatches*

The robot was hilarious! and it may not be entertaining enough if they rushed through the episode by cutting through the animation. It's this ep's strongest point. Since the episodes were so spaced out I completely forgot about watching more of this until I saw the thread. D: But I finally watched the last two. The 6th one made me get all teary, I love the whole story behind Tex and Masaki. I wonder if his father will believe him though. I still don't get what his dad has against the android's desire to protect his son. Was it that he didn't want to share that affection? It wasn't like he was doing a particularly good job keeping his son company.

And ooo, a movie incoming? I would have liked to see a sequel as well. But I'll take the movie with added material. :3
