Avatar: War of the Elements signup/convo thread.

Story:

Before the Fire Nation and the Fire Lord were a threat, war was fought between the four nations: the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Air Nomads, and the Fire Nation.

As a warrior of the each nation, choose your role in this conflict. Will you engage in the war and lead your nation to victory? Will you live a peaceful life and go on adventures? Will you try to befriend your foes? Will you learn the noble art of bending or will you remain a normal warrior and get your power from another source? Will you become powerful enough to become The Avatar?

The choice is yours.

Rules:
You will have to start and create a character. Once you have done this, you will be free to do whatever you want. Just remember that the nations are in conflict and your friendly feelings may not be accepted by everyone.

You may start in any city of your nation.When the game reaches a more developed state, this cap will be lifted.

Just use your common sense and you'll do fine. I only ask that you write atleast a paragraph every post unless you can't. Basicly, if you're familiar with how I gm the OP RP, then you'll know what I mean. As always, I will keep a close eye on this place just incase and failure to comply will be met with mod action.

Character Template:

Name: Your name. Pick something bendery. :LOS

Age: How old you are.

Nation:

Starting Location: Where you start in said nation.

Appearance: How you look. Try to be indepth since that always helps the feel.

Personality: How your character thinks and responds. Also add what your alignment is. IE:
-Lawful Good/Neutral Good/Chaotic Good
-Lawful Neutral/Neutral/Chaotic Neutral
-Lawful Evil/Neutral Evil/Chaotic Evil

Bio/History: What has your character done and who is he currently. The more indepth the better. Explain also your reason for being a bender/not being a bender and engaging in the war.

Group: Should you choose to travel in a group, list the members and if you want, name it. People of the same group are allowed to start at the same place.

Try and form groups before we start in this thread and then edit your character template with the correct info. It'll be more fun that way.

Job/Occupation: Bender/soldier/whatever. Just pick whatever you like. You can be a freaking shopkeeper if you feel like it.

Weapons: Choose your weapon and fighting style. Try to be original.

Items: items your character currently has.

Moves: Your moves including name and effect

Element: if applicable, choose what kind of Bender you will be.

Color: What color dialog you will be using in the RP so its easy to distinguish the different RP'ers in there.

As always, characters will have to be approved before they are used.

Appearance: medium length black hair tied in a pony tail. scar on his left hand in the shape of a crescent moon. Torn sleeve red shirt, dark brown pants. (loose in the legs) sandals and his sword on his waist.

Personality: Lazy. He is determined when he needs to be and does whatever he feels is the right thing to do. He follows his own path and that got him in trouble with his Teachers and Superiors.

Bio/History: he always slacked off in school but was seen as very gifted. after primary fire nation schooling and training he was recruited into the army. He was supposed to be sent on a suicide mission into the earth kingdom, but he ran from the group and hid himself.

He is a decent Swordsman and does well enough with his fire bending, He is often broke and sneaks food whenever possible. He hides out in Fire fountain City, It has the least number of soldiers and many places to hide out.

Starting Location: Ba Sing Se

Appearance: Short untidy, dark brown hair and light brown eyes. Medium height and build. Wears a dark green headband with a golden yin and yang emblem on the front. Also wears a dark green tunic, a beige shirt underneath and beige pants.

Personality: Chaotic Neutral. Loves to fight but only for competition, he actually hates real warfare. Strives to be the greatest Earthbender in the world and prove that Earthbending is the most superior bending art. Can be very stubborn when he has an idea and will stick to a plan or course of action even if its obviously failing. He hates thieves and bandits the most and will not tolerate their presence.

Bio/History: Trained in the Earthbending arts from a young age, Gan showed great promise and he trained under the top masters at Ba Sing Se at the Earth Bending Academy.

However, his love for fighting got him expelled from the academy after he severely injured a fellow student in an unsanctioned match. Since then he has been on his own accepting odd jobs here and there to support himself, everything from bounty hunting, to painting houses. Briefly served a stint in the Army (for like a month) but disliked fighting because someone ordered him to, so he went AWOL and has just been floating around ever since.

Group: None

Occupation: Amateur fighter/Bounty Hunter/basically anything that gets him paid.

Weapon: A pair of stone gloves and stone boots which he uses in combination with his Earthbending.

Moves: A master of all the basic and intermediate Earthbending techniques and some advanced moves but since his training was incomplete he still has much to learn as a bender.

Element: Earth

Color: Sienna

Appearance: Brown spikey hair brown eyes .Traditional sleeveless earth nation shirt ,and pants. he wears a cloth headband brandished with the earth nation symbol(a circle with a square in the center) so everyone knows where he hails from

Personality: Neutral(he doesnt care what he has to do to find his parents)

Bio/History: Mik was born in a quite village some miles away from ba sing se. For many years there village had gone by undiscovered from the fire nation, and mik was able to practice earth bending freely, but when he was 12, miks village had been raided. The fire nation soldires captured all of the earth benders and hauled them off the the fire nation capitol for containment, among them were miks mother and father, and since mik didnt show his power he wasnt caught. soon after he made an oath that he would rescue his parent and see to it that the fire nation pays for it. and thus he went in search for information on where his parents have been held for 3 years.

Group: By himself but will most likely join others along the way


Job/Occupation: Bender but he doesnt really profit from it

Weapons: Choose your weapon and fighting style. Try to be original.

Items: His fists of earthy might...literally his left hand and lower left arm are surrounded by stone which mik can form into any weapon at all times.

Moves: bends earth into a fist on his left arm which is almost always on. He can shoot earthy projectiles from this fist.

Starting Location: Ba Sing Se

Appearance: Messy brown hair. Black gloves with a ripped and torn red jacket and black under shirt. Long black pants and old black boots.

Personality: Tries to think things out carefully but usually ends up going with his gut instinct. Will attempt to be helpful depending on the person in need.

Bio/History: Was left by his parents in the care of a family in the Earth Kingdom. The family also had a son Saito's age, but him and his father
were both earth benders. When they discovered that he was a fire bender they had to hide it from the other members in the Earth Kingdom. Saito would still go to secluded areas to practice his bending without anyone knowing.

He would be picked on constantly by other kids because he was adopted and had no real parents. Not allowed to use his bending, Saito would defend himself with his fists. He got a reputation as a trouble maker and this simply caused him to be even lonlier. Even his "brother" did not like him. This caused him to train by himself more and more improving his skills.

Group: None.

Job/Occupation: Bender.

Weapons: A pair of gloves that extend a single blade out of each of them, a long chain that he keeps hidden in his jacket, Fire Bending.

Items: His Blade Gloves and a long chain.

Moves: The usual fire bending, he also usually uses his blades and chain in combination with his bending. No named moves as of now.

Element: Fire.

Color: Dark Red

Starting Location: Outskirts of the Fire Nation

Appearance: Long Red hiar, and white mask covering the right side of his face. Wears Fire Nation soldier attire.

Personality: Externally he appears to be somewhat crazy in his methods of getting goals accomplished. Quite lecherous, and bit of a womanizer. And can sometimes be considered unmoral, rude, and extremely self serving. However internally he is a true intellectual, often many steps ahead of his opponents. One of the best phrases that define his way of life would be "Everyone has to wipe there own ass"

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Bio/History: Sun Jian, was once a Vice-Admiral on one of the Fire Nation's most powerful Navy Fleets. He quickly became a world reknown warrior and feared soldier, gaining the title of "Sun Jian of the Dying Flame" for his ability to turn the tides in battle through radical methods, and come out victorious.

One day, on an attack against one of the Earth Kingdom's villages, Sun Jian found a group of children helplessly trapped within a burning hut, and just barely managed to save them.

However, the Admiral of the Fleet was present that day(who had feared that Sun Jian's rise in fame would cost him his rank), and deemed Sun Jian's acts as treacherous to the Fire Nation. He was immediatly ordered to kill the children he had just saved. After refusing he was intensly tortured. Before being released, Sun Jian was forced to watch as the children he saved were burned at the stake.

After that event, Sun Jian resigned from the Fire Nation army, instead seeking to put his skills to define his own Justice, and show no allegiance to any side but his.

Group: Sun Jian currently travels the world on his own personal vessel, along with a few soldiers that remained loyal to him when he was still a Vice-Admiral


Job/Occupation: Fire Bender/Pirate/Mercenary

Weapons: Uses a mixture of Taichi Martial arts and Ninjutsu. Typically carries around two swords, a Rapier and a Katana

Items: Plenty of cash and his own ship

Moves: Your moves including name and effect

Element: Fire Bender

Moves: Being a master swordsman and firebender, he uses normal flames to super heat the edge of his katana for a swifter slicing attack, and he puts lightning in the tip of his rapier, for an aftershock effect once penetrating the body.

She has a double sided scimitar like weapon(like Blade:handle:bladE) straped to her back.

Personality: Kya is a very nice young lady that absolutely detests bad people, such as the fire nation which her upbringing told her to hate.

Bio/History: Kya was born into the northern water tribes best water bending families, but alas Kya herself was not born with the water bending ability. Noticing her agility and flexibility at a young age, kya's parents enrolled her in the Northern Water Tribes Army Training School for Young Children(NWTATSYC) to become a top soldier and assassin for the water tribes army. Kya graduated the top of her class and aced all of the "final tests" at the age of 14 when most other students graduated at 17. Her graduation present was the two sided scimitar ,as explainbed above, given to her by the special forces. For a short time Kya participated in the Water tribes traditional warfare, and she is currently running special ops missions for the northern water tribes. She resents the fact that she is a killer. And sometimes questions her job in life...

Weapons: A trusty sword given to her by the water tribes army and various stealth weapons like retractable wrist knives and hidden ankle knives and such.

Bio/History: Has been raised in the Western Air Temple his entire life. He is a relatively adept Airbender, but his lazyiness and short attention span hinders his development. He is also quite naive. However, he is also a bit of a pervert and many of the Elder Nomads do not even know how this came about. At the age of 7, he met up with his sky bison companion. It was the litter and look very sickly, causing other young airbenders to stay away from him. However, Vient was drawn to him. He named the bison Bubba, for no reason in particular.

When the time came for him to join the great Earth Kindom’s army, His father passed away. Fang was made the head of the Ji-Shou family and had to quit his training, in the public eye at least. He’s secretly been training himself for many years, Getting stronger and working on his Earthbending. He hopes soon he can join his nation and fight for the Earth king.

As well as: Rock Pillar, Rock Block, Rock Rock Rock(Just three rocks he kicks into the air and punches at the enemy.) And other moves that you can easily tell what they do based on their names :zaru

Appearance: long let down brown hair, and normal everyday middle class earth kingdom clothing.

Personality: Loving person who believes that her parents arent alive and that her brother mik is wasting his childhood.

Bio/History: Up until the attack on her village Lyn Miaki was a normal 19 year old girl who thought herself lucky to have a boyfriend who was an earth bender for she wasnt one. When the attacked happened she could do nothing but watch as the fire nation soldires took every single bender in her village. As the attack commenced Lyn went looking for her brother mik to hide him from the soldires, and her attempts were proved successful. With everyone in her life gone lyn thought it best that she look after her younger brother Mik, and she did this well. One day she announced to Mik that they would move to Ba Sing Se to start a new life, they had a big fight over this with mik saying that their parents could still be alive, and Lyn stated that there is no way and to just move on. The next day Lyn was horrified to see a note in her brothers bed which said "I cant go with you to Ba Sing Se, but you should go anyways. I know in my heart that Mom and dad are still alive, and i will do anything to find them. Go to Ba Sing Se by yourself, for i may see you again." At first Lyn was torn and she told herself that it was her fault, but eventually she took her brothers advice and moved to Ba Sing Se, and eventually put her talents to good use and joined the Ba Sing Se theatre troup. Every four months or so Mik will come by Lyns house in the second level of Ba Sing Se and every 4 months or so Lyn will advise him to give it all up for the good of him, and mik obviously doesnt listen.

Hey it's an RP. As long as it seems plausible, you know I'll allow it. I mean season 3 had metal bending, why shouldn't this be possible. :LOS

Yeah but metal bending is a subskill of earth bending that only Toph can do because she's blind. It's not multi bending technically.

Hell, if you can explain it in a way that the show would consider plausible, go for it.

Oh and mastering all the crap will be slightly harder than what Aang had to do. It this setting, the 4 nations are about equally powerful. (Yeah,even the water tribe... just go with it :LOS) and at war. Even getting to another nation and getting someone to teach you one element will be a challenge.

Also, the idea of someone being an Avatar is unheard of at the moment so don't expect help from people who want to make you Avatar. :LOS

Appearance: Tanned skin, short white hair, light build, 5 foot 8, wears a gray tunic in cold regions, but in warmer area removes tunic for an open vest with ancient inscriptions covered all over it, lose, indian style pants, sandals, a gray shirt underneath his vest, and a necklace with a black pearl at the center.
Personality: Lawful Evil. Sulayman believes in an ancient water tribe dogma that dictates that since water is the source of all life, then all must serve under the water tribe, for they control the source of all life.Acts similarly like Azula, but less proud and sneakier.
Bio: Born in the maginificent floating water tribe city of Edun, Sulayman was taken from his family when he was5 to be trained under the fiercest waterbenders of his time. Trained to believe that water is the greatest element, Sulayman fights solely for the glory of the water tribes, who, during this time were more numerous than they were in present avatar timeline(there are only 3 in official avatar, but during this time there were over a hundred tribes). With the water tribe falling in a stalemaate with the other tribes, Sulayman was given a special mission; to asassinate the leaders of every other nation; the fire lord, the earth king, and the air high priest. He must also rally the other water tribes under Edun and the Northpole, as the water tribes are disunited and often make war with each other.
Group: Sulayman travels alone, as not even the leaders of the North Pole tribe know of his mission.
Weapons: A set of daggers and an indian style saber.
Job: Water bender.
Items: A map of the world, with the locations of all water tribes on it, and a black pearl which amplifies his waterbending.
Moves: Skilled in every form of waterbending, Sulayman distinguishes himself by being proficient in a forbidden waterbending art: Bloodbending, s well as being able to create "black water" a deadly kind of water able to kill its targets with lethal poison. He can also create water from the vapor around him.

He wears black gloves the go to his forearms that have many blue straps and include pockets of water to use for attacks. He wears high leather boots the same as his gloves which also conceil water. He wears a blck mask to protect his face from the weather.

Personality:
Maru is neutral and of a calm manner. He is very patient even in battle which causes some of his opponents to become aggravated and lose there heads. He is taught by the master water benders from the tribe so he is very arrogant and cofident.
