Ok, this is inspired by another thread, but instead of talking about why manga isn't colored, i'd simply like to know what you think about it?

Personaly i think the black and white, have it's own charm, and i like it most of the time. But i do watch the animes as well...

i like black and white manga. there are times where a picture will look far better when not in colour. plus you get used to it, if they started making manga in colour now, i think it would put me off a bit. colour should be saved for the anime.

they would never be made weekly if they were coloured anyway because it would take too long and it would make them more expensive. rock on black and white :whoo

I agree with both of you Raistlin-Sama and KnightstaR...Non-color anime is better. First as said above it saves time. Weekly jumps wouldnt exist if manga was colored:)

So black and white manga rulz

I think bw makes pictures more.... I can't say exactly what, but coloured pics lack something.

black and white.. b/c if manga were all colored, it'd sorta have too much of an american comic feel..

With black and white it's usually quite hard to tell exactly whats going on the frame, especially if it's during an action scene. Colour tends to make things a bit clearer.

yea it would.

i like the black and white also. i get a differenent feeling when i read a manga in black and white than when i read a comic book that is colored. usually a better feeling for some unknown reason.

plus it would take longer for manga to come out if it was colored. YAY for manga coming out once a week :whoo

Comparing black and white to color is like manga to aime or movies to the novels that inspired them. They each have thier own taste. For me i like black and white beacuse it lets me get into the flow of the anime, it helps me think about whats going on and understanding things that the anime would have to show me. Black and white allows your concious to flow freely and understand the laws of the world and trhe complex things while you read. Thing dont have to be shown to you beacuse even though your cought up in the moment you still think and strive to understand whats going on. Color makes me personally dull and like a zombie where as i only udnerstand what is being shown i dont strive to think outside what is being shown to me and understand the big picture.

black and white. Fan coloring always looks terrible and when the actual mangaka colors maybe a few pages or a whole chapter it looks too glossy. The Americans back when American comics used cheaper newspaper type paper and it was colored that looked great! if japanese manga were like that it would be cool, but it think that id rather stick with black and white. if it was all colored too, it would sort of take the fun out of getting to see ur favorite mangas turned into animes.

B&W is better. But I completely love some mangaka colouring skills. For example I think that coloured Bleach would be awesome.

Black and white all the way! It's another thing that makes manga unique! Also, if it were colored, it'd be more expensive in color.

I'd rather have colored, as mentioned before it makes some scenes make more sense, especially high action/destructive fighting scenes with a lot going on... It wouldn't take much longer if any I don't think, the Anime is weekly, and it's fully colored, and animated.

black & white is definitely the manga experience. a few pages at the front of colour is good, but i prefer to have the whole thing in black and white. don't know why, just prefer it. if it's all coloured then it becomes mangarized-anime.

I prefer Black & White. If they could make like Bleach and One Piece in coloured that would be really good to see.

The emphasis in black and white is nice to see and I like it as it is, but like some people have mentioned, I would prefer it colored if the scene got really complicated (my main reason) or if it were continuously colored by a pro i.e. the author himself. Like that one chapter of Bleach, that was really sweet to look at. Not necessary but nevertheless pretty to drool over.

Black and White is good, the colors are not many, only black and white and some greys.. which makes manga really easy and pleasant to read, one is not bothered by the constant colourful images, a textbook with colourful words is no more easier to read than a black and white ones

b&w also enables one to 'feel' the story, i don't know what this really is, but when i read coloured mangas, i feel more like reading the words only, not really enjoying the drawings, but it's different for the b&w one, i am more prone to realize the details of a b&w drawing than with coloured ones

coloured mangas make you stop and enjoy the colours and shades, well, one can't stop at every page to enjoy the colours, that'll disturb the concentration

in addition to cheaper and less time consuming production, b&w manga is good, however, colours for the first few pages is good too, as long as not all is coloured...

that's just my opinion :)

It depends what kind of coloring we're talking about. If its the basic fan colorings you see then I'll stick with black and white, but if we're talking coloring like American comics (like Martegod colors) then I would jump on that in a second. If the mangas were colored like that they would be simply amazing.

okay...umm colored, definetly :amuse it's just that i usually don't know what color the character's hair or outfit or anything is unless it's black!!! (or it's also an anime)

if the managa was colored like an anime? 0.0 the ni would like it, might ceven be worth paying extra for the ink and the time to color it. But otehr then that then no

I prefer black & white actually. I blame it all on Naruto hehe, but that's a good thing. I just like the simple colors than the extensive colors that colored offers...

nah, I've gotten too used to black and white, they set a completely different mood than colored comics... of course, an occasional colored page would be amazing, just to see how all the characters look

Black and white. I hate coloring comics, it takes hours! Black and white is faster.

But anyway, there's a lot of things that can be depicted in black and white that can't be depicted in color... Especially action scenes and such.

Black and white so the manga-ka can bring it out every week. Stupid.

Wow!

I made this topic... 4 months ago, was it?

And now it is being attacked by the vile necromancers... I can't believe, that it was to be degraded such!

On a serious note, I like black and white manga. B&W have it's own particular flavour and style. Colored can look awesome as well, but as I said two completely different styles, and I enjoy both.

Therefore I prefer manga to be B&W, for the following reasons:

1. It is much faster to make... Obviously.
2. The manga industry is one of the only places, where you can get nice, stylish black and white comics (mind you, they are also almost the only comics that I read), no reason to change this unique attribute.

*Shakes his head* I hate to be negitive but i hate the color in some mangas...I mean even with Naruto...i still would rather the traditional black and white, it makes it more... *Sigh* Understandable..... :blink

I really don't think colour is really necessary, black and white makes things clear and clean, and obviously has its own charm.

To be quite honest when mangaka's do 'all-colour' chapters I don't really like them that much, I'm perfectly content with colour pages being a special kind of thing, or just the first two-pages of a chapter- something along those lines.

Color is better but at least it's cheaper & faster in BW

It doesn't...bother me whether it's black or white or it's color. It just has to plain look good....

Like the guy who makes Prince of Tennis...He cannot color (and one of the worst manga artists I've ever seen...)...And then for other manga, it's better...I am not picky about the art or whatever, but if they just cannot draw...X_x;; they're so miserable...I mean, coloring with Copic markers...The guy who makes Naruto colors really good...

Sometimes, I think the color would be distracting from the story, and besides, it's fun to guess at the colors, and that's what makes the artbooks so much fun to look at. I think the black and white style adds so much character to it. I like the black and white because it helps you notice the artwork and the story more, when it's in color, it's just… well, as I said before, extremely distracting. It wouldn't be the same if it were in color.

i would never read a colored manga. i can't stand american comics because they're colored. it's just too much going on. shaded black and white gets everything across without a hitch, since no one is caught up looking at every color the artist used to make the trees in the background. black and white is the way to go.

I like the black and white. If it was colored it would look to american and gives off what it might look like if it was made into an anime. The plain simple colors are much better in my opinion. That and too many colors hurt my eyes.

The black and white pages are simply because the Japanese are cheap and it's released weekly.

I don't care THAT much...Color is way down on the list on things I value in anime/manga.

I prefer weekly releases over colored monthly releases like in the U.S..

When manga are coloured it usually looks really weird O_O. And when it is black and white the shades come out so much better. I'm too used to black and white manga to really care anyway x.X
